  1. Hi.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you have been having with ourselves. Whilst we have a wide panel of insurers unfortunately not all of them would cover your new vehicle either because the grouping is too high or the value is to high. Obviously i couldn't confirm the exact reason without looking at your policy details which I am more than happy to do if you wish.

We try to be as competitive as we can for all risks but again unfortunately it's not always possible I'm afraid.

    Regards,

    Dan.

Before Covid, I was insured for for 7 years with RH specialist insurance. They then hit me with a significant price hike and I took the car off the road thinking, rightly, that during Covid, the car would almost never get used, particularly since I was spending all my time renovating my house to sell. I also read some poor feedback about RH involving someone who was having to fight hard with a claim. I decided this morning to shop around, to insure it ready for its trip to the (Porsche) specialist tomorrow to have a new alternator fitted and the power steering pump rebuilt. I did an online quote with Footman James and got an email back to say they couldn't provide an online quote and that I should call the sales team. I duly went through the menu system and several transfers to be told that they did not insure the LS 400 as they don't consider it a classic, (no doubt they would have probably insured a poxy mk 3 Escort). I would have thought it would be better customer service to let me know that in their response, rather than having me wasting my time  on the phone.

The purpose of this post is to advise others firstly not to waste their time with Footman James and secondly, that I had better luck with Adrian Flux, who didn't mess me about, tailored the quote to my circumstances, and provided me with a reasonable quote.

    Hi.

I'm glad we could help out with a competitive quotation.

    Regards,

    Dan.

Oh that's a really good thought - thanks! Hadn't thought of the "classic" route at all. Will definitely check out Adrian Flux and Classicline, cheers!

Totally agree about the mileage limit. I think at the very least 2-3k miles/year would be the bottom range, as you're right; it's such a lovely car to drive so would definitely be tempted to do more, even with the 20-25mpg that it gets!

    Hi.

Hopefully we could help out with a competitive insurance quotation.

    Regards,

    Dan.

Mainly Decided to Import due to the age, knowing that they are in better condition from japan than Here Most of the time,

The colour was an added bonus as its personally my favourite! ,

As for the car itself it is completely stock other than the wheels, comes with a sunroof which I'm not sure was a option over here? its a 2008 model with 45k miles which if very good for its ages.

insurance I haven't sorted out yet as it is just a the japan port but hopefully will not be too bad with a specialist

This must be a software driven response to key words as after reading what has been recorded above no organisation in its right mind would offer its services !

    Hi.

To be fair ever insurer or broker will have a certain percentage of negative comments. We take customer service extremely seriously and I'm sorry to hear that you've had issues with ourselves.

    Regards,

    Dan.

Cheers mate! Honestly insurance was one of my major concerns, I was planning on waiting til my 2nd year of driving but with the corsa dying I checked with my current insurance provider.

To change vehicles mid policy my quote jumped up from £80 to £140 a month which isn’t bad as I was paying that pre Covid for the corsa. Thankfully I’m working from home so I dropped my annual miles from 10k to 2k and just social driving!  Generally my insurance is quite high compared to most most but should slowly come down over time.

Haha I’ll hopefully keep an eye out for you mate! At some point I may get a private plate, just bought a GROM VLINE for now so the bank balance has taken a hit  😂

    Hi.

When your insurance is due for renewal please feel free to give us a try if you wish.

    Regards,

    Dan.
