  1. Hi Rayaan, That's not true. You only pay interest on the length of time you are paying finance, in my case 1 month. If I paid over the full term, then the interest would have been more than the £1000 contribution from Lexus. Trust me, the maths is correct otherwise I would not have done it. Thanks, Lee.
  2. Hey Rich, welcome. Regarding payment options, I was ready to pay cash and my dealer offered me a finance contribution figure. The day after my first payment was made, I called the finance company and settled the outstanding balance. In effect, I had an extra £850 saving on the car. Colin, if you have not settled your finance already and can afford to do so, I recommend doing it for a saving. Lee.
  3. Yes you can pay off early. I did after 1 months payment. I recall a small admin fee, but this is miniscule in comparison to the interest over the full term.
  4. I installed after market media headrests last week and needed to get to a power source. The power socket inside the centre console was the best location. I couldn't find any resources online so set about guessing. Here is a guide and some pics to help if anyone is trying to do the same. Proceed at your own risk, I am not liable for any damage to parts of your car. Remove the knee pads either side of the console. This can hurt your fingers. Squeeze your fingers in and pull them towards you, gently pulling out. There are two clips holding it in. Once these are out, it will pull towards you. Put to one side. There are 3 screws (Philips head). Remove these and pull the trim away from the console, and work towards you. There are 4 clips holding them in place. Don't worry if the white parts get stuck in the holes, you can pull them out and fit them back. Grip the cup holder section and gently pull upwards. This is held in with push in clips. Lift it upwards from the back. There is a lip under the joy pad. Slide the whole unit back. When you lift it up, unplug the cable and put the unit to one side. The rest of the console can be lifted up from the back working forwads, again it is held in with push in clips. There is one screw to the right underneath the gear lever. Once this screw has been removed, you need to put the lever in neutral to allow movement. Lift up and look for 2 screws underneath holding the gear position indicator. Remove this. There are now 4 screws holding the gear leaver gaiter. Once this is removed, the console can be put to one side. I have not removed anything else, but I could see screws for the DVD player. I'll try to answer any questions if I can. Lee
  5. Hi Mark. I'll post something shortly. Lee.
  6. Fantastic news Ian. Hope you have enjoyed your first day in the car. Lee.
  7. Hey Mark, I did not get to remove the CD/DVD unit, although I could see the fixing screws. I'll put something together and link you to the post. Lee.
  8. Thanks Steve, I'll check the portal later. I have installed the headrests. Was slow going. The wires go through the seats and then to the centre console. I managed to splice into the power feed of the centre console. Also connected into the Aux feed. All working well. Kids will be pleased now. :-) Will try and put info in a new post.
  9. Hey Ian, you must be so frustrated. Can't believe they lost a car. :( Hope you get some good news soon. Here's an update on a week of ownership. :) 380 miles in and averaged 44mpg at the moment (expecting tank range of around 600 miles, not had that in a petrol car before :) )considering it's been very mixed driving - motorways, town driving and slow stop-start in heavy traffic. It's such a buzz when you are coasting along in slow traffic in EV mode. One thing I have noticed is I'm braking sooner and therefore not as hard. The reason for this is when you brake as you are probably aware, the batteries are charged using regeneration. As there is a limit to the power that can be reclaimed, anything over this is lost. Keep your eye on the power meter and you'll see what I mean. It is a challenge trying to reclaim as much power as possible. My wife thinks I'm getting old! ;) I'm sorting out music on a USB stick at the moment. Trying to figure out album art. Do I store jpeg's in the folders? I know Gracenote is in the audio system and I'm finding out how the database is updated. There is an option in the system and it mentions updating from a USB stick. If I succeed, I'll post the process. In my IS250 SE-L '09 I had aftermarket media headrests. They were hard wired in for power and had the audio out from the screens into the AUX input so the car speakers could be used. It worked great. I spent a couple of hours in the car last night looking to see how to install. I couldn't find any info to remove the central console, so I set about removing it in the blind. I got so far, but ran out of time. Once I complete this, then I will post the process too. Hope the rain stops soon, I need to fit the new roof bars for the roof box. I went for the official Lexus ones, and got a discount being a gold member. ;) I'll update more when I've covered more miles. Lee.
  10. Thanks Steve. I pulled up at the dealer, and saw my baby outside the front door glistening in the sunshine. Parked my IS 250 SE-L, one last check inside and a final look around. I really just hope she goes to a good home. Said my final farewell, then headed over to the new one. Had a look round, beautifully prepared as I expected from Lexus. There were a few new cars being handed over alongside mine and I knew I had chosen the right colour for me. Chris, the salesman, greeted me and went to complete the paperwork. Keys exchanged, tax disc removed and vehicle registration document signed over. How simple things are! Time to get in the new car for Chris to run through things. Everything covered, seat adjusted and memory set, Chris wished me many happy motoring miles and left me to it. First thing I did was to take a pic of the dash at 3 miles! All set, off I went. It's only about 5 miles home, 3 on the A1 in slow traffic. How smug I felt moving along slowly not using fuel. Made it home as I needed to fit the kids seats back in the car so I can get them from nursery. Took the following pics on the driveway. Kids picked up and home, car then packed to head to the in-laws as I was booked on a Nissan GTR experience at Donington. Nice gentle drive up the M1. Upon arrival, averaged 45mpg. So, what do I think so far? It's a firmer (which I don't mind) ride than the SE-L. Definitely more lower end torque due to the motor. Still a lot of things to figure out on the car. Bluetooth to my Sony Z2 works great. Contacts transferred ok. Music plays from it. Controls from the steering wheel work with it. Just getting the hang of the satnav, much slower input than the previous touch screen. Oh, and it certainly draws attention! My first project will be to install my aftermarket media headrests for the kids. Will post more feedback when I get more miles done. Lee.
  11. Hmm, daft question. How do I upload pics?
  12. Yeah, I'll be there at 4pm. Beautiful weekend for it too!
  13. Just received an email from my local dealer saying the car will be ready for me to drive away tomorrow afternoon! I've not stopped smiling, and I expect the smile to be on my face for a long time to come. White F Sport with Premium Nav and black leather. It's gonna be a seriously long day in the office tomorrow. Will post pics.....
  14. Hi all, I've been a long time lurker on the forums, it's amazing how much information is available here. Sad news, my beautiful 2009 IS 250 SE-L Silver is going. :( Good news, I am awaiting my brand new IS300h F-Sport White to arrive, hopefully next week. I have a couple of extras I will be selling shortly: Official Lexus roof bars for the IS250. (Dealer has informed me these do not fit on the new IS) Vaistech VML HDD Audio Interface adapter http://www.vaistech.com/site/discontinued/vml.php I will put them on the For Sale forum in the next few days. Counting down the days, It's going to be a long week. Lee.
  15. Hi All. I have a couple of questions, hoping some of you have had experience in. I have a 2009 IS250 SE/L with media. I'm driving through Spain in September. Do Lexus do any kits for driving abroad? I know I need the following for Spain: 2 warning triangles High viz jackets (one for each occupant, can't wait to see my 12 month old in the 'One size, fits all') Replacement bulb kits Anyone have any website recommendations for purchasing from? I'm also going to update my Nav DVD befoew I travel. Has anyone had any experiences from www.SatNavi.com Lots of good reviews, but not sure if they are original disks or not. Any advice or recommendations appreciated. Thanks, Lee.
