  1. The Luxury spec run on 17" rims, there is a big difference in ride and handling. (you might be thinking of the Premier) You will also find the fuel consumption is greater on the 18" rims of the F-Sport.
  2. This is the dash cam. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B012CMUYXQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It has a USB micro port for power on the GPS base and one on the camera to allow you to connect it to a PC to download the video files. I remove the SD cards to copy any files. You are wrong about dash cameras being 12v. Yes, they connect to a 12v supply as that is what the car provides, but you will most likely find that your accessory plug adapter that came with the camera reduces the voltage down to 5v. There is probably a sticker on it showing the power. For anyone piggybacking off a fuse, I do hope you have not just cut the cable from the cigarette plug and wired it straight in. You will eventually kill your dash cam.
  3. Yes, but I don't think the USB sockets give out enough power for devices. The camera I have came with standard USB cables (allow pc connection) so the converter I used was the best option.
  4. I hard-wired a USB power converter like this so the accessory socket is still free.
  5. When you are stopped, press and hold the button for about 10 seconds. It will stay off. Although, annoyingly, the display permanently tells you it is off.
  6. Hey Richard, Can you confirm whether or not you have electric folding mirrors? Do you have a button on the driver door allowing you to fold them in? If so, is there a button next to it labelled 'Auto'? Press this and an little LED will light up. Get out of the car and lock it to see if this works.
  7. 60+mpg is doable, even in the F-Sport. I have a 20 mile commute, back country roads and towns which allows me to use EV quite a bit due to 30mph and 40mph limits. I have reached 63mpg a couple of times, and often average around 55mpg. Longer journeys, cruising on motorways will return 45-55 quite easily. Keep challenging yourself, the mpg will increase.
  8. Richard, if your car does have this function it is activated when you press the 'Auto' button opposite your mirror fold button. This has to be lit. It's a little annoying as every time you manually fold the mirror, you have to remember to set it back to 'Auto'. Hope this helps. Lee.
  9. 24 years of Japanese cars. Nissan 200sx Honda S2000 Nissan 200sx Nissan 200sx Nissan 350 IS250 sel IS300h F sport Never have and never will own a German car.
  10. Hi Mark, I've been a Gold member for a few years now. I think it is worth it for me as I get discounts at my Lexus dealer for parts and services. I have also used the Halfords discount quite a bit. The cost for membership has probably been paid for in savings. I can't say if anyone else has found the same.
  11. My experience of DAB in the IS is OK. I was under the impression that reception is pretty patchy throughout the UK, so I fully expected drop outs (especially in rural areas). The radio is clever enough to sync the DAB and FM signal, so that if DAB signal drops, the FM kicks in. You do notice the difference in audio, but I can live with it until the DAB network is improved.
  12. My 20 mile commute to work is along back country roads and through small villages, ideal for the Hybrid. Some fairly long stretches of 30-40 mph that allows me to coast along in EV. Currently my record high is 62mpg and I constantly get between 50-55mpg (bear in mind I drive the F-Sport). However, on one drive home late at night, I managed my lowest at 24mpg. That took some doing, as if you get stuck behind a slower driver, the economy rockets up! :) On long motorway journeys at 70-75mph I get around 50 - 55mpg. I have found that when driving along roads at 40-45mph you can coast along in EV mode. When you hit 46, it will bring the engine in. That's when the mpg drops rapidly. Economy starts to increase again, up to 70mph. This would explain why you are getting lower mpg than you were expecting. It takes a little while to learn how to drive the Hybrid efficiently. Patience and a very gentle right foot (this also includes the brake pedal) all help.
  13. I missed the rear blind from my '09 SE-L, so I ended up buying tailored blinds for the rear window and rear door windows. On one or two occasions, I miss the ski hatch in the rear seat. Another thing I happily miss from the old IS is the fuel economy! I challenge myself daily with my 20 mile commute. So far, my record is 62mpg (I average 55mpg). Smiles all round!
  14. If you are confident with getting into the center console and wiring, then I recommend using something like this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pro-Dual-Double-2-USB-DC-DC-Car-Converter-Module-12V-To-5V-3A-15W-Power-Adapter-/381218561195?hash=item58c2659cab I used one to hard wire my dash cam and active phone mount. Wires completely hidden away and still have USB and power sockets free. I created a post a while ago of how to remove the center console as I fitted after market headrests for the kids.
  15. Thanks Steve, that answers the question for me as I'm going to Spain next week.
  16. Hi James, Quick one to check... If you press the 'Start' button and immediately put the car in 'Drive', the steering wheel does not go into position. I have to turn off and on again. I cannot be certain if the seat does the same as I have disabled the easy access as my youngest child seat is behind me and I won't get him in the car otherwise. :) Lee.
  17. As I understand it, batteries are affected by cold weather too. The power they give out reduces, therefore the petrol engine is used more. I have certainly noticed this. During the summer I could easily coast around 40-45 mph on flat roads staying in EV mode. In the colder weather, it would be around 35-40 mph. Still, I'm happy as consumption is better than my previous IS250 SEL.
  18. Hey, I too have the Xperia Z2. You may need to check what version of software is installed in the car. I have version 'F' and texts are available on screen, where you can select to play. Emails do not seem to work, not sure why. There is a thread somewhere reporting issues with the software, and where it can be obtained from. A very nice chap called Pieter (pieterj) from the Netherlands provided me with the 'F' version of the software. Installing via USB was straight forward. Hope this helps, Lee.
  19. That's normal. I do exactly the same as you, 3 miles to the station. By the last quarter mile or so, the engine is warm enough and I can run in EV. In the summer, 70% of the journey can be in EV. Winter, I'm getting around 30-35, in the summer more like 50+. I drove to a client site yesterday, A1/M - M25 - A3, around 50 miles each way and averaged 52mpg for the return journey.
  20. BB and DJP, I noticed that sometimes the Nav re-routes me off motorways through towns as well. I put this down to the Nav looking for the Economical route (if you selected the eco route initially), which for a hybrid would be along slower roads. I'm only guessing though. :) Lee.
  21. Hi Guys, It sounds similar to an issue I had on my 2009 250SE/L 18 months ago. When driving in a straight line. minor corrections to keep within a lane were no problem, but a little more to change a lane it felt like resistance in the steering. A little more force to overcome the resistance and like you say it over does it. I spoke to the local dealer service manager and he said "As the steering is all 'by wire', there are motors and magnets inside. Does it feel like magnetic resistance? Try to imagine turning a small electric motor by hand." The service manager said he would clear the steering programming and reset everything. I had it for another week and still had the issue. The steering system was then replaced under warranty. It was perfect after this. I have not noticed anything like this on my current car. Lee.
  22. Hi Danny, If your lights are set to Auto, then they are designed to turn off when the engine is off. Can you not turn them on manually before you get out? I also think there is a feature when you pull the light stalk and the lights stay on for a period of time. I cannot check, maybe someone can confirm. So, other than lack of lights, how are you finding the car? :) Lee.
