And I meant plastic as tongue in cheek but the body of the car is flexible and made up of carbon fire components and plastic. All I meant is it's not metal like most cars.

I don't for one second believe that car is capable of 28mpg in real world driving.
-
Yeah you'll meet my mate Gordon, he's one if them going. You lucky sods!! 👍
-
I know someone going to this in December.
You going with Gord then?
-
Yes.
IS200 S and SE model came with one tyoe of springs.
IS200 Sport and IS300 had slightly lower suspension. That would account for the two part numbers.

Get your alternator tested as the symptoms suggest a possible alternator fault.
Seconded 👍

They're also made of plastic 😂why dont you knock your self out with America's best sports cars. these things sound amazing
And 7.0L???? Crazy!
Extra urban mpg... 28! I call bullsh*t! Haha

If you pay that you're crazy!!!
Ok bushes can be replaced. They're probably quoting you somewhere in the region of £5/600 for the arms with bushes as Lexus won't replace just bushes. You should be able to buy some bushes from eBay for around £40 and a local garage will charge half an hour to an hours labour to change them.
Shock absorber leaking, buy a recon one or a second hand one from a breakers for not a lot of money. Again about an hours labour at a garage.
With the siezed calliper, I bet they're quoting £200+ for a new one.
if it's sticking cos of corroded slide pins a local garage again can clean the sliders up for minimal price or you could buy the slide pin set from eBay for about £25.
If it's the piston inside the calliper seizing then you'll need a Refurbed calliper £50 from Bigred or a new calliper £200ish or a second hand calliper from a breakers.
Basically if that was my car I'd be getting all that done for around £200.
£1437 is absolute daylight robbery. Disgusting!!

IS200, IS300 share the exact same suspension components, If it fits the 200 it'll fit the 300

Yeah they won't fit without rubbing as you've found. May scrape the rear arches too when going over big bumps, speed bumps etc
-
It is a shame they don't do a petrol IS250 manual ,then we could fit short shifters etc,why can bmw make a good manual gearbox and Lexus can't ,the discovery of perfection but can't get a good gearbox to work hmm ,imagine the isf with a manual ,it would be unreal .
IS250 does come in petrol manual

Any induction kit you fit will sound great but will lose you power

I didn't know that only Lexus can do it. This is where the running costs start to pick up in comparison to the value of the car, which for me is what 19k to 20k. Six years old, 50,000 miles. Still I say sod it, with a tank of petrol 60+ then its not much really is it?
The IS-F is no different to any other car when it comes to alignment. Anyone with an alignment measurement machine and a spanner can do it.
Not all Lexus dealers have the facilities to do the alignment themselves, as a good quality alignment tool is very expensive. Getting alignment right is also complicated, and the staff training is also very expensive. Many just take the car to a local garage that does wheel alignment.
The only thing where it can get a bit difficult is that if the steering wheel is off and adjusted, the VSC system may need to be recalibrated. The garage doing the alignment needs a computer to delete the calibration from the VSC system, so that it can re-learn. Obviously, the lexus diagnostic system can do this. But, lots of high-end alignment machines come with software that can trigger a VSC recalibration on pretty much any car (even lexus). The alignment industry typically calls this process a "steering angle sensor reset" or "SAS reset" - so ask your garage if they can do this before taking the car down. Most should be able to do this, as it is an essential part of wheel alignment on any car with VSC/ESP (and all cars from 2013 MUST have VSC/ESP by law).
I'm not normally a fan of manufacturer sponsored "good garage guides", but you might want to check http://www.alignmycar.co.uk. This is sponsored by a manufacturer of high-end alignment machines, so it's not independent. However, I've taken several cars (inc my IS250) to random garages and to a couple of AMC sponsored garages. Both the AMC garages got it absolutely spot on, and it was obvious when talking to the tech that they knew exactly what they were doing. By contrast, a big tyre chain and a backstreet garage completely b*******d it up.
If you want to go it alone, then the best places to go for alignment, are either garages specialising in performance cars and tuning, or insurance-approved accident repair garages (these places do a *ton* of alignment checks as the damage assessment even on minor prangs)
Chumpusrex knows, couldn't agree more with this 👍
-
Not completely true that only Lexus can do it.
To get a proper alignment does require a very expensive laser alignment machine yes. But there are a few very good alignment places that can set the ISF up to the correct perfect settings.
Wheels in motion being the prime candidate (obviously 500 odd miles from Edinburgh so of no use to OP) but they are used by companies such as Ferrari, MB, Porsche and they are famous for re writing the first generation IS's geometry which Lexus accepted was flawed and now use WIM's settings.

Just for the record, Lexus Edgware Rd(persuaded seller to have them look at it) have confirmed it is a leaky water pump and definitely not a HG issue....interesting how Halfords autocentres were adamant it was a radiator leak.
That's great news!
Oh and in regards to Halfords... This is why I wouldn't let them anywhere near my car. 👍

Hahaha prolex! They're a bit of a joke amongst long term owners mate. Turned out the company that is prolex is just a bloke trying to sell parts that he doesn't have in stock from his spare bedroom.
I promise you unless boosting the best intake for an IS200 is the stock one!!! I don't know what else to say to convince you!
-
Sounds like the sensor/thermometer that gauges the outside temperature. It's behind the front bumper somewhere, not sure exactly where
-
You are likely to lose power with any other intake other than stock. All you will gain is noise.
-
Yeah I fitted 4 maragoni to my old IS200. They wore very very well, that's all that was good about them. Loud road noise and not very good in the wet.
Saying that I'd prob buy them again as they are cheap, mine were 225/40/18. They seemed to last forever! Lol
-
What was the fault code?
But yeah, sounds like CAT is blocked.
-
If you couldn't spin the wheel easily by hand it has to be a seized calliper doesn't it?
That would also explain intermittent noise as it sticks and unsticks itself.
Just a guess.
-
Make it yourself to route around the front of the engine. Seen a few like that. But as Matt says it's pointless. Stock intake is as good as it gets power wise unless your boosted.

Okay so I've just disconnected the black for about an hour or so now. May leave it another half hour or so just to be on the safe side before I connect it up again. Different sites were saying to leave it to reset for different times so gone for the maximum just in case!
Thanks for advice guys, much appreciated.
I've never had to wait for anything to reset when changing a Battery. Straight swap over no problems. Car starts and works fine as soon as the new Battery is fitted.
