  1. I guess thats true but its also like having 3 girlfriends in Miss World. Only one will win but the others are still better than the rest :)
  2. As above, also think about the price of the car at the minute, the car I bought was the best value one for sale in the country at the time and still managed 10%+. The dealer still made ££££'s i'm sure. Is the car you're looking at a sensible price or a wishful price to start with?
  3. Yep, go for it. I got about 10% off a used car and a few other bits.
  4. How many out of the thousands that have been made have gone? What we seem to forget is that if everyone moans when then have an issue, not many forums have people go on just to say how good the car is. Lexus seem to look after the issue and have any of the modified ones had the issue re -appear?
  5. Its an SE, hope I am pleased with it. I've a 42 year old japanese car that costs me enough already!
  6. As above, I driven most things recently as the Lexus was the best for refinement.
  7. Decide to go for it then, well done, looks a nice buy. enjoy it. Have a look at my threads, one in particular called 'Problems headed off at the pass' this will give you some useful info on the EGR Valve. There are other useful threads too. Yes, at that price/spec/milage with the 2 years warranty there wasn't anything trade or private that would compare really, well thats what I think, I'm waiting for someone to put a link up to a car that was better value! :)
  8. Got this one... http://www.vehicleimagezoom.r66.co.uk/?Theme=Lexus&DefaultImage=lexus&Id=602591672 It was the best one i've driven, in a nice slate grey and like new inside, i'll clean out the EGR when I pick it up just to be sure. This is the deal: £9200 with a few smart repairs on minor marks so it'll be 100%, 2 year lexus warranty(yep 2 years!), Taxed/mot'd/just had the 60k service done. How does that sound? Pants pulled down!?
  9. Car looks really nice jason61c, love the colour, shame about the black leather, I mentioned before that I do prefer the lighter colours. I think that you will have yourself a good buy there. Are you close to a decision yet? Don't forget, if you really do want an 07 car, my 57 plate jobby is still up for grabs. it's possibly the only 220d around that has closing/opening mirrors when doors are locked/unlocked, so it could be unique. I'm sure that you will be pleased if you go for the blue one. I've 2 childeren under 3 so light colours won't stay like that for long±
  10. Oh, This is the car...... http://www.vehicleimagezoom.r66.co.uk/?Theme=Lexus&DefaultImage=lexus&Id=602591672
  11. Well went for a look...... It looks looked after, wearing good quality boots all the way round which is a good thing for a privately owned car IMO, interior is like new, its even got a sunroof! Test drive went well, it drove much better than the other's I've driven, a trip out of the centre of Sheffield to the M1, 8 minutes each way on there then back into the centre of Sheffield, so traffic and up hill. MPG wise it showed 39.9 for the trip which was good I think!!?? Before the motorway it was showing 35 and then crept up when sat at 70mph to 42mpg before I pulled off. So I guess thats a good sign? Just pondering over the deal that I was offered/negotiated(2 year warranty), Ideally I wanted a 2007 car but a 2006 with 56k etc etc seems ok....... Time to ponder over it! Thanks all for answering my questions :)
  12. one in a local lexus main dealer. 06 reg Slate grey black leather Full MM pack 1 previous 56k, just serviced (big 60k one done). its going up at 9k as an approved used. They've got to have atleast 3k profit in it, nearer 4. I'm going to have a look and haggle tomorrow all being well. Hoping to get it for an extended test drive too, a good couple of hours really as I need 40mpg on the motorway. I know they have their issues but its not like every car has issues...
  13. The car in the dealers has heated and cooled seats too. I'm going to have a look at that and see if they'd let it go for £8300 ish which would be a decent price for a nice spec from a main dealer. Failing that I'll be looking for a private one.
  14. Thanks for the offer but i'm not after a sport, or a car with 18" wheels as it ruins the ride a little for me. Regards
  15. Thank you normski2, just wish I could get a bite. Yes I spotted that one but, it is only an SE as opposed to the SE-L which I think is much better equipped, plus of course, it must have SatNav for me. That would be a good price. I'll have a good think about it, ideally I was looking for a dark car inside and out.
  16. Yes I have, this should get you there.....hopefully! http://www.autotrade...20010?logcode=p That does look nice but also makes the one in the lexus dealers look like sensible value...... Mmmmmmm
  17. I've seen a 2006 06 is220d se, slate grey, black leather, navigation etc etc, one owner, 56k(60,000 service done), approved used so with the years warranty, £9k. I think its about £700 over what it should be. I'm going to have a look and see what room for moving they've got. I did go to a BCA auction, a 2009 is220d se-L with 27k went for £10300+£530 buyers premium.
  18. Struggling to get a grip on what values should be for these. Dealer(main) are all over the shop. I want leather/satnav as a minimum. Any ideas on what's a sensible price? I do want a warranty, has anyone managed to buy approved used and pushed the warranty from one year to two?
  19. Goes to 140k, £1340 for a 2 year one. The cars just sold anyway :( However lexus sheffield have a 2006 one that's just come in, right colour and spec but its a bit pricey at £9k(55,000miles), Going to have a look and drive of it though and see what they'd haggle to, at 8k I might go for it :) Especially with the warranty as a 5+car.
  20. I've found a nice 57 plate car with 110k and full history, i'd prefer that over a 50k car I think. I know about the negative points, had a test drive of a couple. i'll be doing 20k a year so no issues about it sooting up!
  21. Howdy all. I've more or less decided that i'm going to get a is220d and have a few questions.... Are the 2009 onwards cars actually much better on fuel than the pre 2009 ones? Is a lexus warranty worth buying? Any standout things to look for on the 220d apart from the normal used car stuff? Cheers all.
