  1. I bought this item number 393691189056 from Ebay I was a bit dubious with an aftermarket part, but it fitted and worked a treat. I dread to think what the OEM price is. Takes about 30 mins to fit. Remove the back panel, there a 4 x 10mm nuts holding the lock assembly/number plate light unit, you can get to them quite easily through the gaps in the rear door
  2. Does Lexus also fit window decals to show that protection plates are fitted, might save you from potential wing damage.
  3. Is it worth re-running the quote stating you have a Ghost 2 Immobiliser to see if it brings it at all?
  4. Talking to a friend over the weekend. He has a 2020 Range Rover, lives in Chorley, Lancs. He can only find one insurer for £8900 and his insurance runs out in 6 weeks. He recons that if he had been paying his insurance monthly, they would have cancelled it. I was seriously considering trading in my 2007 RX400h for a RX450h, but as it's just sailed through the MOT, I'll hang on in the hope that insurance rates will stabilise, but can't see it happening somehow. If the insurance situation doesn't improve by next year, I'll reluctantly have to look at another make.
  5. Same problem on mine with the power door manual switch. Bought mine (aftermarket) from Ebay. I was a bit sceptical, but it worked a treat and only cost £20.00 inc postage, arrived in 4 days https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393691189056
  6. Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll check it out in the morning, and see if this is the issue. Best regards
  7. The tailgate works fine on the remote, but won't manually open using the latch button. When opening and closing on the remote, I can't hear the tailgate lock operating. Before I start removing the tailgate panel to check, is there anything others have come across that may be the problem. Thanks in advance
  8. HI Malc, I did a search beforehand on "RX400h AFS" but nothing came up. Tried again now and still nothing. Best regards Jim
  9. Just started yesterday, comes on after a few seconds of driving off. I did some checking and watched a few online videos, but I can't find any reference in the owner handbook. One video shows removing the AFS fuse, but the owner handbook does not have a fuse layout page. Another video showed the location of the AFS sensor, but I think that was for a GS350, so it may be in a different location on the RX400h. I would appreciate any guidance/cost from members who have had a similar problem. Thanks in advance.
  10. Have any members used LRA recently. I noticed pink fluid on and running down the centre of the front bumper of my 2007 RX400h I lifted the bonnet and found more fluid had pooled on top of the lower radiator. It had a slightly oily feel, but it didn't smell like ATP. Unsure of exactly what this was and where it was leaking from, I called LRA at 18.00 I was informed that the earliest an engineer could get to me was 20.10 Not great, but bearable. 20 minutes later I got a text message that it was now going to be 22.10. I rang LRA and asked why the big jump in 20 minutes, she replied that they were very busy with other breakdowns. The engineer finally arrived around 22.20. He was great, identified the fluid as lubricating oil added to aircon, not ATF as I first thought. At least now it was drivable, the aircon can get fixed at a later date. I was very surprised when I received a feedback text the next day. I doubt very much if they will follow up on my scathing comments and low score, but I gave the engineer a glowing review. I remember not that long ago when most breakdown services could get to you within the hour. It was always my understanding that Lexus LRA was a premium service, but appears to be just another AA breakdown in the queue. Any other members had a similar experience.. Needless to say, I won't be renewing LRA later this year when it expires
  11. Has anyone had similar experiences? As long as the engine is running (not idling), the heater works, but if stationary or deaccelerating the heater blows cold as the auxiliary water pump is not doing its job Thanks in advance
  12. I had thought of that, but I was running late for a Xmas concert where there was limited parking. It was only when I was leaving that I noticed the mirrors weren't opening, and didn't have the time to go back into the house and get a ziplock bag of warm water. Holts de-icer was total useless on the windows, did nothing to thaw the ice, ended up using a scraper
  13. I've tried every combination know to man, in the slim hope that one of them is causing it to the problem. It seems once it's up to temperature it switches off, even with the temp controls on max, I've even tried left on min and right on max, AC on/off, then vice-versa. Maybe there's a cabin sensor, with an intermittent fault that thinks the internal temp is too high and shuts off the hot water, grasping at straws now.
  14. It was -5C at 9.00PM yesterday and stayed around -3C for most of the day, and then started to sleet around 4PM The sleet must have froze on contact and built up layers, never seen this before in the 10 years I've owned it
  15. This has been an ongoing problem for the past couple of years, but brought to a head with the recent cold snap. I was chiselling off the frozen crust of yesterdays frozen sleet, with the engine running and vents on the front screen. After a few minutes the heat started to come through the screen vents and thaw the ice. After a few more minutes the heat from the vents was getting quite hot. I changed the airflow to the forward facing vents and it was getting quite toasty. Now comes the problem, when I drive off it blows cold, irrespective of the temperature setting. The only time it will blow hot again is when I get on to a road where I can floor it, but shortly after taking my foot off the pedal, it goes back to cold. Does this have an electrical or mechanical water pump? If it's mechanical, how does the heater work if the engine switches off during a long downhill decent or on battery mode in slow moving traffic. As a side, I noticed that the folding mirrors were not opening. The freezing sleet had built up a 20mm block of ice on the mirror bracket, preventing the mirrors from opening. It's quite a confined gap, so I had to use a small screwdriver and carefully chisel away the ice.
  16. I've left a few messages with local companies over the weekend, see who comes back now. Many thanks
  17. Driver side heated elements have gone. Tried to buy new element pads from Lexus and replace myself, but not available as "too complex to change" when looked up by the spares dept. I've been looking for a couple of weeks someone breaking one, but nothing, so does anyone know which other model uses exactly the same seat. Failing that can anyone recommend an aftermarket heated over-seat, there's plenty for sale, but not many good buyer reviews. Many thanks
  18. Damian pointed out the large stain at the bottom of the condenser, where the lubricant had leaked out due to corrosion.
  19. I had a new condenser fitted yesterday by Damian from Car AirCon Services. It included regas/lubricant and a 2 year warranty, and done at my house. Total cost was £350.00 I rarely recommend anyone, but Damian was spot on. I had rung around a number of aircon companies, but as soon as you mentioned hybrid, they backed off. He's on 077 8602 8602 or service@carairconservices.co.uk
  20. Can anyone recommend a specialist in the NW ideally near Warrington I know it isn't going to be cheap, as it's a major with a plug change. Many thanks
  21. Hi Duncan, I've got a spare alloy/no tyre you can have, but like yours its in need of a re-furb, and I'm in Warrington I bought a pair of good condition alloys and swapped them out for the worst 2 alloys. I sold one alloy and still have this one kicking round the garage.
  22. Rather than faff around programming a new chip, I cloned the existing black (master) key transponder chip, and copied the info to a special chip, so it was immediately ready to start the engine. There are a couple of makes of remote keys (KEYDIY and XHORSE) that can be configured to 100's of different remotes, via a cable and phone app. I configured one as a RX400h and programmed it to my 2007 RX400h with an Advanced Diagnostics AD100Pro. This has to be diagnostically programmed, unlike the RX300 and most other Toyota/Lexus that are manually programmed by a series of opening/closing doors and ignition on/off. I used one of the latest XHORSE remotes that is very similar to the Toyota Aygo/Corolla, so in addition to the 3 original remotes, I have a modern flip remote. The cloned transponder chip fits inside the top of the XHORSE case. I couldn't guarantee it would work with a 2 button, but most 2 button remotes are simply a 3 button circuit-board minus the boot button. Most mobile auto-locksmiths will carry XHORSE remotes as part of their armoury, so these needn't cost a fortune. Rather than trying acquire a remote from Ebay that may be incorrect/faulty, ring around a few local auto-locksmiths and ask if they supply KEYDIY or XHORSE remotes, and how much it will be for yours. Avoid the google search ads with freephone numbers that display first, these will invariably be the franchised chains that will take their fee and just pass on the job.
  23. Thanks for the advice guys, but the coolant level is spot on. Rgds
