  1. His name on lexusworld is Lexusman. If you email him or start a new thread on the forum he'll reply. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. If your interested there's a guy on lexusworld who deals in Lexus and in particular SC430's. He has had some great cars for good money and will probably give you a deal on your gs300 as well. Food for thought at least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yeah I'm 6'2 and I fit in better than I fitted in my IS. Have you seen anything you like so far? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Hi, other members here have more knowledge on what to look out for on the 430 than me but I can chip in my 5cents.. I have 2002 with 102000 on the clock and it came with problems due to not been looked after that well. Major service missed with the timing belt etc, cheap parts, a little neglected overall. However I did get it cheaper than most and I don't mind spending the money and time to get it back to running right. What I'm saying I guess is that for a 2001 it's got to be looked after, fully serviced, timing belt should've been done and potentially water pump, regardless of mileage. Check for water in the boot and holes in the exhaust, other than that like any car press all the buttons make sure the roof operates smoothly, mirrors seats etc... Have you taken one for a spin yet? I've had a few Lexus now and for me I've never felt the fear of breaking down, smooth comfortable confident drive but like any car it needs to be looked after properly. I think there's a detailed write up on clublexus about sc430 purchases if you do a search. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Neil, I'll start up a new build thread. I'm holding back on the visual mods as I'd like to see it once I've fitted some coilovers and new wheels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Absolutely, everything fitted so far has been genuine Lexus/Toyota. Thanks for getting in touch. I am interested in a spare wheel and cover. What's the price and where are you located? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Soooo.... I've been quiet for a while now due to starting a new job and it's been pretty time intensive finding my feet and getting married!! This has meant that the SC has been under wraps for nearly 9months!! Now I'm ready to tackle it head on. First up thanks to the guys at Albin B Motors for sorting my timing belt, water pump and running a diagnostics for me all the way back in January 2015. codes are: P0430 catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2. I had numerous holes in the exhaust so had a new custom stainless fitted. Before father analysis can be done. P1651 VSV for ACIS Circuit. I picked us a new Vacuum suction valve and had to strip off the inlet manifold to swap it out and fit new gaskets whilst I was there.. Oh and vacuum out all the leaves and dirt that had collected underneath!! B1421,B1423,B1424 all air con. Not sure where to start with these. I looked up the codes and now I'm even more confused!! Ive also started a full restoration of the braking, steering and suspension systems. Picked up some LS400 front brakes and some RCA blocks from FIGS engineering, thanks to Matt for help with this, stripped off the rears today and got them ready to go away for refurb and paint. Got some pretty simple modifications to carry out so if there's interest I can start a new build thread?? Cheers Si
  8. John, that's what made me suspicious as I received two quotes separately from Lexus for the cam belt and water pump. When I asked for the quote to include all the work to be completed at the same time Lexus simply added it together. As Neil has pointed out this could very well be justified but I thought I'd get a second opinion just in case. Cheers Paul I'll give them a call tomorrow and get a price. ABM Ltd are recommended by a few of the guys in the IS forum which is handy as it's just down the road. Neil, thanks for the summary I'll use this list when I'm getting prices. Lexus Croydon seem quite wooly when it comes to the details just that its a "cam belt kit".. Looking forward to getting this done so I can move on to the fun stuff Thanks again for all the info guys, really really helpful. Cheers Si
  9. Hi guys, The cars out of Lexus Bristol and I'm off to pick it up at the weekend. So far Lexus Croydon quoted me £740 for cam belt and water pump change. I've asked for a breakdown of the price as I feel it may be inclusive of to much labour. Any views would be helpful. So far Lexus have gone very quiet.. Is there anyone based in Croydon or south London that can recommend a decent garage/specialist that uses OEM parts? Cheers Si
  10. To test open the sunroof, at the front underneath/behind the deflector you will see two pea sized holes in the corners, pour some water in and watch to make sure it drains. It should drain out under the front wings. If not clean the muck out of the holes and use a compressor to clear the line. Cheers Si
  11. Hi Guys, Thanks for the great responses, I've got a clear idea of what I need to get done with the cam belt now so thank you. I'm still waiting to pick up the SC from the dealer, I think Lexus Bristol has taken it hostage!! Cheers Si
  12. Guys, Just had a call from my mate at Lexus. He's asked me to make sure that the drain holes at the front of the sunroof are not blocked. He's had two in recently with hybrid battery failures which have been caused by water flowing down the back of the sunroof and collecting in the hybrid battery compartment, one of which they couldn't isolate and has been written off. I'm checking mine when the wife gets home, the water should flow down the holes and out under the front wings. Sorry if this has been covered but I thought I'd share it just in case. Cheers Si
  13. Looks pretty sweet, I'll have to ask my local dealer if they still sell it.. Less room for shopping = less time in the shops!! That was my plan all along Cheers Si
  14. Spot on Paul, that's what I'm after is that an official Lexus cover? Cheers Si
  15. Hi, Just sent a price over, I can look into sending them to Plymouth and let you know. Cheers Si
  16. Hi, I can't seem to pm pics so I'll put them here.. They come with two keys, all four locks are the same. Fitting kit, rubber feet and Allen key. (Not in the pics). One of the end caps came off just after I bought them, I ended up using a grub screw to put it back on (pictured) it's very secure and I've had no problem with it. The surface is a little pitted which I've also pictured but it's not got worse or affected fitting racks in the slots. Cheers Si
  17. No worries, I'll pm you a price and some pics, I used Thule bike racks on them which slotted in. I'm in Croydon. Cheers Si
  18. Hi, I have a set of Whispbar from my 2006 220d that I no longer need I'll dig them out of the garage and take some photos if your interested? Cheers Si
  19. Thanks for the replies guys. I'll get it all done in one go for peace of mind. Paul, which "get me home" spare do you have in yours? Cheers Si
  20. Hi, Just waiting for my SC430 to be mot'd and serviced before picking it up, unless things go south of course. It's a 2002 in blue with black interior with 100,000 on the clock, I have to say it did not feel like it. I have a few questions so sorry if I double up on previously covered topics. It's got an ok service history but the previous owner seems to have neglected certain items. First up cam belt change, it hasn't been done and i'd rather get the guy I trust to do it. While the belts off is there anything else I should change? Water pump? Any other belts etc? Run flat tires, I've not had them before and I'm keen to hear people's opinions on them and any gremlins that pop up? Not sure if they'll change the plugs for me so is this worth doing to keep everything sweet? I'll almost certainly have more questions so you'll get fed up with me pretty quick!! Cheers Simon Cheers Si
  21. Great thanks for the info. I'll see what I can pick up and let you know how I get on. Merry Christmas Cheers Si
  22. My thoughts exactly! Cheers buddy Cheers Si
  23. Hi to everyone in the club. I've just sold my IS220d and will be travelling the country next week hunting down an SC430. Any tips on what to look out for things to test etc would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Si
