  1. It's pretty pants compared to most diesels. You get alot more from BMW or audi
  2. I know the sport has a different rear diff but shorely it shouldn't make that much a difference
  3. It's had its head gasket done and a new Egr valve fitted. I would say on average I get 33mpg. It does got up to 35-36mpg when I pick my daughter up which is 45 mins away but that's still pants for a modern diesel
  4. What do people generally get? I'm looking to hear especially from sport owners as I generally get between 30-35 mpg which for a diesel is dire. I do 45 miles a day and 35 of them are dual carriageway cruising at 75mpg. It's had a full service in the last 3 miles including the fuel filter and I do use red ex about once a month
  5. What is220d do people have as I have the sport version and when I see people saying they 45+ mpg I honestly believe you're talking pony. I get on average 32-35 mpg sometimes 30mpg . The fuel consumption on these cars is terrible
  6. Anyone heard from lexus yet over the recall for a fuel pipe. All is220d and is 250 from 05-10
  7. What material are the seats in the 220d as I want to clean my seats. These are not the leather ones
  8. What cleaning products are out there to clean the seats. I don't have leather but can't work out what the material is
  9. After the way lexus treated me they can take a running jump.
  10. You are best off getting a warranty cover from one of the major companies. Lexus reliability does not apply to this model
  11. So I know you can't remap the ecu but has anyone fitted a plug in a play chip, if so was it worth the money. I have the sport version and my mpg is appalling anyway. Average around 32-34 mpg
  12. Lexus will use and say anything not to do it. I badgered Cambridge non stop but they didn't give a f*ck as I had 1 stamp missing. Even though it was from previous owners and I only had the car 6 weeks. 07 plate. Luckily I had rac warranty and was done by them. I met all their criteria but they don't want to pay out. I wished I never got my lexus. Egr valve went 6 weeks later. Sorted again by rac.
  13. I have a 220d sport and had a full service 2 weeks ago and even though the book says it's had regular services I think they're talking crap but anyway. A friend did it and snapped 1 of the inlets off the lexus fuel filter so put on a Peugeot one just to get me going until the original got fixed. Well I was seeing 35-36 mpg with the new filter and that was including short drives which I've never had before in the year I've owned it, put the original back on last and same driving, distances etc it's dropped back down to 32-33 mpg. Any reasons why as im tempted to go back to the other filter
  14. fitting a filter on a n/a engine is worthless and if anything will mess with your sensors as the car is setup to run on the normal filter and will bring down the mpg
  15. lexus don't always honour the head gasket failure, Cambridge just didn't want to know, apparently have 1 missed service out of 9 means it wasn't maintained, ( all servicing done before I owned it) lexus hq were just as bad passing the buck
  16. no manufacturer is perfect but when you read head gasket failiures on the 220d after 25-30k miles then you know its crap, the cars look nice and are different from the usual german brands and I always heard lexus are 2nd to none on reliability but the 220d seems plagued with faults, I was toying with the Volvo s40 and I wish now I got that car instead as the drive in them is instant not the massive turbo lag on the lexus
  17. I have a sport version and I would avoid this car as the main problems are the head gasket failing, (incredibly common) and lots of people get the vsc warning which could be a host of faults, mine needed a new egr valve im doing very well to average 34mpg and I only get this on longer journeys over half hour the petrol version seems the way ahead and the mpg is basically the same as the diesel I would avoid getting this car at all costs
  18. brace yourself for the head gasket failure, get extended warranty as soon as possible
  19. shipz - Cambridge were a bunch of turds when my head gasket went and wouldn't valid the extended warranty that so many other owners on here got. sendz - is that because you have the is250 that it was so quick, I refuse to pay what Ipswich quoted and now doubt Cambridge will be the same
  20. I did clean my previous egr valve but didn't do much. I will disconnect the battery again tomorrow for an hour and then drive it straight after to see if that makes it better
  21. I had the vsc warning light and it came back egr fault on there fault code reader I disconnected the battery again tonight and pumped the brake a few times, left it off for 15 mins and this time when I started it it went back to normal idle speed 700rpm, so hopefully I will get better (fingers crossed )
  22. ive had a new egr valve fitted in the last 3 weeks and my fuel consumption has dropped to 30-31mpg from a pretty poor 35-36mpg, my car now idles at 1200 rpm instead of 700rpm, ive disconnected the battery (negative terminal reomoved) for 5 mins and all the clocks were reset and windows needed resetting but it hasn't helped with anything else I spoke to lexus Ipswich about the problem and they reckon the ecu needs reprogramming which takes 2hrs and costs £136 p/h inc vat, how the f*ck can it take this long and cost this much as when I had my Scooby an ecu remap with the added mods took 30 mins does anyone know a lexus/toyata or Japanese specialist in the Cambridge - bury st Edmunds area that can do this job for a realistic price and not fantasy world prices anything else I can try?
