  1. I remember there was (a pinned?) "official" IS200 wheel topic around, but I couldn't find it.

I'm planning to put on 20" * 8,5" wheels with an offset of 35 and 245/35 rubber. Will they fit? :whistling:

    Cheers,

    Sami

  2. Hi all,

Before when I still had the std back box, with full tank of gas I could do only about 400km before the fuel warning light went on. That's when I "stepped on it". If I restraint myself and drove nicely, I could do maybe 500km at most.

Now after fitting my new Apex'i Hayabusa back box, my fuel consumption went down drastically!!! I'd already driven 1/4 of a tank when I fitted the new 'box, but now I've done almost 600km with that same tankful and there's still stuff left to burn! :hehe: I can get a proper comparison only after driving one whole tankful with the new 'box, but the direction of the change is already clearly noticeable.

What do you reckon, was there something seriously wrong with my std box, or is just that so darn restrictive by default? Anyone else noticed anything similar?

    Cheers,

    Sami

  3. Ball  joints, shocks can be a surprise at MOT time they can produce  a steering failure if not in good shape, cheers, gds

My brand new IS started knocking when going over humps after 3 mths. Send in to the dealer here in Singapore and after toying around for 2 days  , they gave up and changed the suspension anyway. Got the knock back after 1 day. Can anyone enlighten what could be the other causes?

I had more or less similar problem, and in my case the cause was loose bolt of the front sway bar. They tightened it when the car was in 60,000km service and now it's back to normal again. :)

  4. sounds good, except i think i'd like a colour screen.  where did you get yours and at what cost?

The screen is colour, but the camera's b/w just for the fact that b/w cameras can usually cope with much less lux than color cameras. So revesing lights are more than enough to see fine in total darkness. I live in Finland and I got the camera from a local "Maplins" counterpart for just about 45€ (~ 25GBP).

  5. my dvd will take a reverse camera ,plugs right in.anyone got one if so what are they like. :)

Just installed mine... I've got 5.6" wide screen placed where the rear view mirror usually is, and a tiny B/W CCD-camera (with IR-leds for night view) in the middle top end of the rear window. Works like a charm! :D

The camera and display come on when I turn the ignition key, and shut off respectively. Works better than a rear view mirror, 'cause there's nothing on the line of sight of the camera (head rest, C-pillars, passenger's head, etc). Plus as a bonus, I can see into a lorry's or buss' cabin at the traffic lights even if they stopped bumper to bumper. Their drivers think I can't see them, so it's nice to watch them doing some silly stuff while sitting at the lights (picking nose, etc) :whistling:

A mod I can recommend for everybody! :winky:

  6. I know this is a bit :offtopic: but as Colin said VVT-i doesn't kick in , what you feel 4200 is the ACIS valve in the inlet plenum opening , which isn't controlled by the cams.

OK, and ACIS valve controls the length of the inlet manifold, right? And the length of the manifold is altered to achieve good torque on lower rpm with one manifold length, and the other with high rpm?

But someone has to know the cams lift and other values? :crying:

I need this info to calculate the best possible exhaust manifold in quest for more power... :whistling:

  7. Hi all!

I just recently registered - again - as I'm one of those whose accounts got deleted because of the recent mishap... :whistling:

Now my question is as simple as this: does anyone know the specs for the 1G-FE cams? Inlet/outlet cam lift and timing, and when the VVT-i kicks in (around 4200rpm, right)?

    Cheers,

    SpOcK

p.s. to whom it may concern, thank's for the recent GB on dash trays. Got mine quickly and hassle free... :hehe: :D
