Would any of you guys know if these side steps stick out enough to stop the arseholes banging their doors against my RX400h is supermarkets ?

Hi Guys after being quoted all but £500 for a replacement sensor by Lexus Norwich have any of you corrected the flashing " AFS Light " on the dash, I have seen posts about adjusting the linkage ? have anybody attempted this and did it work ? Its on a RX400h 2005 Thanks

I have eventually found the time to remove them little cover things within the rear light cluster................................and....................................................a massive improvement and its a very confusing thing as to what these little bulb cover things are actually doing ? well apart from directing the light up away from the actual direction you need it BEHIND YOU !!!

I see what you are saying fella but if I were to adjust them like that I fear it will do something else to the way they work ? when you turn them on the beam starts off dim then quickly gets brighter then they go left to right and up and down then settle in what would be the normal level position, but now and again they seem to sag and the beam is only a few metres infront of the car it needs to be twice that reach to be any good. It is very noticeable but this dont happen every time ?

Hi guys can anybody tell me if they have had an issue like mine ? sometimes not always the dip beam only reaches about 8 to 10m in front of the car ? its almost like they are pointing down ? any ideas and any cures ? (im not talking about the side to side movement thats fine) Thanks JD

Come on fella ! You shouldn't have to be turning fog lights on to reverse ? The " Reversing lights " should do what they are designed for.................help you see to reverse ?

I think you guys are still missing the point here? A car of this caliber should have better reversing lights , my eye sight is perfect yet I cant see bugger all when reversing in my dark drive way ?

Colin I think the point of this post was of confusion, its a very strange thing for such a fantastic car in so many ways could be let down by such poor lighting when reversing ? It would be like buying a Maserati that slows down when you put it in top gear ? Its not what you expect.And as for people saying they are not there to let you see where you are going ? Well in my book that's just daft you cant reverse if you cant see can you.

Just been out to my car and had a bit of a measure up, right with a Graco kids seat that goes up to the age of 11 and on the other side a Silvercross Baby seat there is a gap of exactly 12" between the two, this is with them in place with the seat belts all fitted so this is where they will naturally sit. I hope this helps you decide, after all there are not many cars that have this amount of rear space ? unless you start going all 7 seat on us ?

Hi Fella I have just put a second baby seat in the back of my RX400h as our son arrived on saturday and with our two and a half year olds seat on the other side of the car there still is plenty of room, if you consider the seats take up more room than a child alone im pretty sure if yours are on boosters the actual arm room for fighting should be sufficient. As for tank range we recently went down to Cornwall from Norwich and I was happy with the fuel range, I cant remember the exact numbers but in comparison to our other car an Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 JTS Sportwagon that did about 35/40 on a run im sure the Lexus did better as in how far say £70 went, you need to take into account that if you drive the Lexus in a wise way and each time you dont need to keep the power on you remove your foot from the pedal and the little computer screen shows that you are using no fuel, plus it had cruise control which helps maintain a steady speed on motorways, so summing up I would say yes you can get ya kids in and yes its pretty good if not very good on fuel for a car of this size and class. Plus if you get the SE~L you get the DVD system in the back thats awesome for keeping kids happy.

Well Duncan there must be something a bit odd n strange going on in darkest deepest Norfolk as last night I couldnt see jack **** going up my drive lol Maybe your lights are some how different to mine ? maybe then little " light cover " things or something ? All im saying is there are people who are dismissing this as not being a problem, and last night I did actually have a problem as in I couldnt see bugger all. So apart from this how do you find yours ? its the same model as mine.

Oh and after a little bit of research I found that the next generation of this car the RX450h has COMPLETELY different reversing lights ?

I looked up this very subject due to the fact I got in my RX400h last night and wanted to reverse up my drive, and to be honest the view I had was ***** poor to say the least ! I am having a real problem understanding how some of you guys as saying that reversing lights have no connection with actually letting the driver see where he is going when reversing ? what planet are you on ? The post saying that the reversing lights are to let others know you are going backwards is in my mind almost comical, yes to a degree this is part of its function but 90% of these lights job is to aid reversing. Do any of you guys actually own a RX400h ? have you actually ever driven one backwards in the pitch dark ? going on my experience last night with this car having black glass in the rear plus the fact the rear window is small and obscured by the rear head restraints and the rear of the car is quite high and the door mirrors will not give you a good enough angle when they tilt down when you engage reverse and the reversing camera is all but useless in the dark, I fail to see that you think this is not an issue ? the very reason for my being on this forum today is to find out if others have the same problem ? I have been driving for 26 years and have driven and owned many cars and without doubt there IS an issue with the lights on this car. I can see how people who live in street light lit areas would not notice this issue but my drive is quite long and has trees and a long wall and I found it to be a problem. As for Lexus and the way they will react to this issue, well what can they actually do about it ? unless they redesign the whole rear light cluster and then replace them all on every car they cant really do anything ? and I dont expect they would as this is called the evolution of the motor car, think how crap the first say Vauxhall Astra was, they were shocking and over time cars have evolved, But for people to turn round and say there is no problem with these reversing lights is a bit daft. As a driver of a large heavy car I want to be in 100% control at all times and going backwards when I cant actually see much is not on my list of fun activities.

Hi Guys my tyres are looking like they are due for a change soon ish, what tyres are you all using and what are they like, you know road noise, wet grip considering winter is on its way and above all price, im not tight I just dont like paying more than is actually needed. We live out on the coast with some poor roads and dont do a lot of mileage, very little on motorways. Thanks JD

Hi guys just a quick one, can anybody tell me the place to get a spare key for my car, it only came with one and a spare would be very handy. Also cost involved of anybody knows? the key fob had the lock, unlock, remote tail gate opening. Thanks in advance you Lexus genius`iz`iz`iz John D

Thanks mate that makes sense my car has the DVD with wireless Bluetooth headphones, I didnt think of that being a possibility. And I will give the " B " selection a go later Thanks. John

No fella these are like four LED lights that are about 18" from the floor on the centre pillar between the front and back doors ? they are on both sides of the car ? they dont light up bright like LED lights do but are lit slightly in red ? Also while im here how do I use the " B " feature/mode on the auto gear box ?

Hi guys im new here and new to Lexus, I have just bought a RX400H SE~L and while I was sat in the back I noticed four small LED like things on the middle door posts, between the drivers door and the read door ? they are both sides of the car and are visable when the doors are closed,anybody tell me what these are for ? thanks, oh and what a car this thing is !!!
