Yes absolutely. On most cars it can go undetected however on some of the new ones you can find out
For example
BMW - on the new ones you must clock the key too
As strange as it sounds when you switch off the mileage is stored in the key so the two must match up when you start up again otherwise it will throw up a fault. Obviously with 2 keys for the same car it is a little bit out it is ok but as long as the mileage doesn't go backwards.
Volvo - They throw up a dash error and engine management light comes on.
Figured that out when cam to plug into one for a friend years ago !!!
Personally I am not fussed what mileage is on a car. If it has been well looked after and serviced when it needs to be and it drives straight enough and sounds good enough (no rattles) then what is to hide.
If you lie about the mileage what else are you lying about
I know in a few years time that my Lexus will have probably close to 400000 on the clock and it will still be fine. I will never lose money on the car because the mileage has got past the point of anyone caring so I don't care either
If it drives sweet enough then that'll do for me

Here is that advert
And here is a LS460 trying and failing at the same thing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - It's not an LS400 hahaha

And that is on an engine with 253000 on the clock.
If I was to tape up the odometer so you couldn't see it you would think it was brand new out of the factory !!!
-
I personally would not go near it.
I have bought my car with 253000 on the clock and we all saw the rev test the other day with the cup of water
I am not saying that this MK2 won't do that either however I am saying to do such little mileage like that it will have needed to be laid up for ages.
Being laid up means added rust and seized things
I like to buy a car knowing its been used - not wrapped in cotton wool
I would bet that it will need some major work done soon ie calipers, handbrake cables, ball joints all because it hasn't been used
Just my opinion though but it is really tidy

Back on the job again. Tank is delyed. Going to go for the same size as you have Mark 680x300 94L.
Just debating on were to put the filler now.
I really don't mind having a proper one on the rear quarter. It's just easier to fill.
Also now it's out in the open about where I came from thought I should make an apollogy.
After uploading the photos of my car last night I sent the link to my dad to ask him what he thinks and he was a bit upset by my previous comments about another member and his gas car.
I read back though it with him and it was quite harsh so sorry about that. I should have been a bit more reserved
Dad only found out about it last night as I don't work for him anymore. As I said I sit in a nice warm office now.
Anyways more pictures to follow later ...........

Water is more fun !!!!
The person questioning me and saying a Jag is better was in his Mondeo at the time and his words were "my car can do that"
So up went his bonnet.
I had to catch the cup as it fell over !!!!!
-
Absolutely. Like your car, it's all on show however it is very neat
I just don't like messy cars.
Profess work is pretty good. Can't fault their recent work.
I remember years ago when I was working at my dads a customer come to pick up his car and looked under the bonnet and their reaction was "what have you done ?" As in "I can't see what I have paid for !!!!"
But that was the way I have been taught to do it so when I see cars with it just thrown in it is quite shocking
As I say I like your conversion it's really neat, it's all there but very easy on the eyes

Yes there is plenty of room there its just the angle of the photo
But its just on its way now to being finished
One thing I diddn't get was a photo of where I put the ECU
It's in the inner wing behind the headlamp (under a heatsink)
It's tight but it fits just perfectly
-
I had someone in the garage today saying how they prefer the Jag to the Lexus as its just an over all better car
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I wouldnt give up without a fight !!!!!
Just to prove a point I filled a mug up with water (put some dye in it for the purposes of the video) put it ontop of the manifold and took the car up to the rev limiter.
It was that full that I spilt some walking from the tap to the car !!!
Here is the results

Here we go
Basically my dad (Andy Evans Autogas) was a bit busy so this is the earliest I could get the car in to do
I was trained by him to do this work years ago. I now sit behind a desk !!!
But I don't mind turning my hand to it again just to get this done
This is the work so far
Before
Covers offInjector nozzles drilled in manifoldInjector wiring going into coverWhere the vaporiser is going (Before) Behind the passenger side foglightWhere the vaporiser is (After)Under bonnet with all the water pipes thereFinishedThose injectors fit lovely under the cover !!!(If you look carefully you can just see the water pipes near the transmission dipstick) -
In getting gassed now. Looking good so far. Put some photos up later on !!!

I was lucky with mine. When I bought it it had brand new pirellis all round and 17inch DHP alloys
They are not perfect and there is one centre cap missing but I am sure I will stumble across one soon
But nice wheels really do finish off the car

What was the price of that Martin ??

My car seems to have developed a misfire
Got a feeling its a coil
Part number for LS400 coil is 90919-02228
Part number for LS430 coil is 90919-02230
The only difference I can see is that the plug is angled upwards on the 430 coil
Are they both the same coil as they are available aftermarket from motorfactors not just Lexus like the LS400 coilpacks are
Has anyone had this before and had the same thought ??

I didn't know which ones to get as there were long ones and short ones.
I should have got a mixture of them to be sure.
Oh well. I am sure I will get it sorted out
The keys I need are 37mm blade. The ones I have bought are 42mm
It was only £10 so it wasn't an expensive mistake !!
-
Also according to Toyodiy.com the spark plug number for a UK spec LS400 95 is Denso PK20R8
http://www.sparkplug-crossreference.com/convert/DENSO_PN/PK20R8
Be very careful about putting the wrong plugs in your car as it can cause serious damage to electrical items
The correct NGK plugs for 95 LS400 are BKR6EP-8
-
To be honest I ordered them up on 17th Oct and they got here 2 days ago
I wasn't expecting them for another month either !!
They are the wrong ones though as the key blade is a bit too long
I don't know if they can be cut down. But I am gonna find out !!

I am now the proud owner of a brand new key
Well i suppose its actually 10 !!!!
I bought a bulk load of these
And being an eejit I have bought the key that is a tad too long (about 6mm)
I will have to get it cut down and then re-cut
However I am impressed with the quality of them for the price and they actually have a Lexus badge on it too
Better than the £MILLION that lexus want for one !!!!
-
-
Does anyone have a link for the kit to re-con it as I am planning a Eurotrip at Christmas and I can't get stranded for longer than a few days without my car
I was just going to buy the kit to keep in the boot as a just-incase.
Just to save on the time it will be laid up if and when this happens.

Absolutely
It's misrepresentation
It is actually a criminal offence.
However people do need this service because lets say next week your dash clocks on your 100k go faulty and you go out and get a second hand set of clocks and the new mileage on the new clocks is 200k you will clearly want it to be changed back.
That is the genuine reason- there are a few genuine reasons- not many though !!!!
Anyway we don't know if it has been given a haircut - we are just speculating from past experiences hey !!!
