  1. In case you want to fit LED bulbs, make sure you get the canbus ones - regular LEDs will give a bulb error

I used Canbus LED's on my old Ls400, the error message still flagged up, the bulbs worked and showed no error in a lesser car, just shows the Ls will pick up even the smallest of change.

I stuck a normal replacement bulb in after that and they worked as good as new.

In this case what you would do is measure the resistance on the LED bulb and measure the resistance on the normal bulb and put a resistor inline to take up the difference.

Just a little way to cheat the computer (basically what the canbus lights do)

  2. Ahhh but all of that is aftermarket stuff. I like to keep mine looking totally standard with just a little plug here or there difference. So it doesn't look out of place at all

Does anyone have the service manuals for the nav unit

I have also noticed tha there is a load of pins on the back of the nav unit with no plug going to it. I wonder if the actual screen has the capabilities for the tv and it's just the tape deck that controls what it shows

  3. After sucessfully completing an AUX hack I now want to do a video hack

After looking into this a little bit I would need the service manuals for the Nav unit

Also whilst looking into it I stumbled across this part number 86111-50040 as opposed to 86111-50060

The 86111-50040 was built specifically for the Celsior and if you look closely here it has analogue TV

With this TV button it would be so easy to manipulate the signals coming from there the same way I managed to do the AUX hack with FM radio

Was anyone aware of this and are they readily available to install into the UK spec LS400 ?

  4. I don't know much about Prins

I tend to stick to what I know or what I feel will be suitable

As we can see here this is the vaporiser that I have chosen

    http://www.lpgshop.co.uk/lpg-autogas-kme-gold-reducer/

It is rated upto 320bhp unlike the more common OMVL DREAM only rated to 280bhp if the correct one is fitted as the other one is ony 140bhp

I understand that NO-ONE will be driving with their foot to the floor all the time but at least it is nice to know that I won't run out of steam if I do !

Anyway this time in 2 weeks and it should be done

    Can't wait at all !!!!

  5. Well it's expensive. You go out and try and buy an LPG kit. It can be quite difficult unless you know where to go.

You can not just go straight to Prins and ask to buy one.

If you want a customised one like me you need to either know a company and persuade them to sell it or pay through your nose for it

eBay is just not the sort of place to be buying this

This isn't a cheap standard Stag system with Valtek injectors. It's totally customised to what I want

Not that there is anything wrong with Stag it's just not my choice not to use it as I find the ECU too bulky the injectors less reliable and the reducer not as powerful as it needs to be. However the software for Stag is very adaptable and is very good. You can put almost any injectors with that system and they will work.

In the market Polish is, in my opinion, the leaders. This is because the software in any of their systems is so adaptable to suit the car that you are converting. I like KME because I have used it before and I find it a bit more compact and build quality is a bit better

But each to theIr own that's why there is a free market out there

  6. A few pics of my LPG Kit before I fit it

    DSCF0346

ECU- Nice and small sure I can hide that out of sight

    DSCF0347

Injectors- IMO these are the best on the market- they have no rubber seals inside, only brass flaps therefore there is nothing to break down. Again, Nice and compact with definately fit under that cover.

    DSCF0348

Heated plates for the injectors. These are not needed at all however I thought that I would just buy a set to try out to see if it helps with efficiency
Directional nozzles- Again not needed however I feel it will help with efficiency

    DSCF0349

Reducer- More than enough to power a 4ltr engine

    DSCF0351

Last but not least the switch- I don't like the blue light when it is on gas it can be a bit off-putting. It's a good job that it can be changed to a green LED in the software for the ECU

    DSCF0352

Can't wait to get it all in and working !!!!

    To Be Continued .....................................

  7. I see your point about adding a power socket but I have put the aux right next to the vsc and headlamp washer. This means I can put my iPod into the ashtray and plug it straight into the socket in the ashtray

As for phono being better quality I can't argue with you as it is. But if you are converting 3.5mm out the top of an iPod to phono then surely the quality will be the same

I understand what I have done is quite invasive and not for the faint hearted but it removes the need for a blank CD on repeat

  8. I will upload instructions when I get time to sit down and do it.

A little bid fiddly and the only hairy bit that I know people may not like is the point where you have to use a blade to cut the tracks on the PCB

Apart from that it is all straight forward.

Bit of solder and a bit of hot melt glue and you're sorted !!!

All in all it cost me a days messing around (I had to figure it all out)

And £1.79 for the AUX plug

This could be done probably within 2 hours from start to finish

Cheaper than the CD changer hack, neater and better sound quality.

To explain it very simply, I bypass the signal almost just after it has come out of the sky !!!

This is how factoryradioservices do it in USA

  9. I now have AUX in my car

I have interupted the FM signal coming from the tuner and replaced it with my own AUX signal

    It works a treat

Simple 5 pin AUX jack and a short length of wire

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/pcb-mounted-3.5mm-stereo-socket-1196

No need for relays, no need for CD changer just put your radio onto FM you will hear your radio station and then plug in your AUX cable and it will turn off and onto your IPOD or MP3 player

    Sound quality perfect, No hiss

  10. I think I have sussed it

    Firstly

Here is the FULL service manual

    http://elektrotanya.com/pioneer_lexus_ls400_kex-m9376_m9276-crt2064-.pdf/download.html

    free to download

    Next:

I know very little about this sort of electronics but from reading
numerous posts what you have to do is to interupt the L and R signal
from the tuner. As the signal is still in its raw form it has not been through the volume controll or the EQ or anywhere else yet

It is purely just a signal in a copper wire

It took me a good hour of looking at the board to finally find it

Simply just intercept the signal from the tuner and hey presto

No need for blank CD or anything just leave the radio how it is and then just plug in with your AUX and it will automatically switch off and divert the signal to your external music device as I have bought a switchable aux plug from maplin http://www.maplin.co.uk/pcb-mounted-3.5mm-stereo-socket-1196

No relays needed just 5 short lengths of wire and that plug

    HOPEFULLY !!!!

I will be attempting this in the morning so I will update as the day goes on but I am fairly confident that this will work
