  1. I have used the cleaner fluid infrequently depending on how dirty the car is and how smooth the paint feels, otherwise I just wash and wax it. Kevin
  2. Tell your mate to go test drive the IS, also I suggest the Mazda RX-8 and Audi A4 for comparison, then let him decide what is right for him. That is what I did. I'm happy with my IS. Kevin
  3. Whatever jets I have they work very well, better than any other cars I have driven. Kevin
  4. My 2004 model (Dec 2003 purchase) 200 Sport sprays as one large jet rather than 3 distinct jets so am I correct that I don't have the triple? Kevin
  5. Getting a new work phone. Have choice of Sony Ericsson T610 or Motorola V500, would like to choose the one that will be easiest to install in the car, anybody have car kit for either of these? Thanks Kevin
  6. Wheels are fine so far but I'll keep a close eye on them. Gold membership pack was waiting when I got home tonight :D Kevin
  7. Forgot about the indicator/wiper thing. Why aren't all Jap cars the same? Mazda aren't even consistent across their own range, most have indicator on right but the new RX-8 has it on the left.
  8. Perhaps I didn't explain well enough. Some other car's gearboxes have reverse where the Lexus has 6th, so if I forget I am not in the Lexus and try for 6th I'll get a major shock. Kevin
  9. I have now done over 2,000 miles in my IS200 Sport so time to give some feedback on the car. Driving - The car has loosened up considerably since new and feels a lot quicker. The gearbox is much smoother and reverse, in particular, is easier to engage. It is useful to have the audible notification of reverse as a couple of times I have engaged it by mistake. I very quickly got used to 6th gear but waiting for the moment I try to find 6th in a 5 speed car and get reverse . The car is so easy to drive :) , little grunt and not going to win a straight line sprint but nevertheless happy to be driven quickly on twisty roads. Dealer - When I originally got the car, Lexus Croydon were out of Lexus key fobs but promised to post some on to me, after a reminder at the end of January I have now received these. The first time I washed the car I noticed some marks on the paintwork, looked like something sticky on the paint surface on the drivers door, whilst I probably could have removed myself I believed this had been there from new so had Lexus Croydon take the car back. The diagnosis was that it was remnants of a protective coating that had not been removed properly, it took two attempts before they resolved the problem to my satisfaction. I was also having problems with the remote boot release but felt a bit of a fool when I was told to hold the button down longer and that resolved the problem, I suppose I should have read the manual but it is the size of an average paperback. Fuel - My average fuel consumption is 27mpg, varying from 24->30 mpg, depending on the type of driving. I knew that fuel consumption would not be great but am a little disappointed with this. Running on BP unleaded but may try Shell Optimax for a few tanks and see if that improves things. I love all the items on the car that can be extras on other brands, my other half is particularly fond of the heated seats on a cold morning and I am surprised how useful the remote boot release is, now I know how to use it. The washer jets are the best I have come across. The best compliment I can pay is that my RX-7 has been driven so little that the battery was flat last weekend, the first time in 4 years! Overrall very pleased with the car, Kevin PS I signed up for Gold membership on 28th Jan but yet to received a membership pack.
  10. I use Swissol Samurai Wax on my RX-7 and need to give my new IS200 a good clean and waxing as soon as I can find the time and decent weather. Anyone used this wax on Lexus paint? Thanks Kevin
  11. Whifbitz is run by Paul Whiffin, he seems well respected by the Supra boys. Kevin
  12. Great to see a dealer participating in this forum, acknowledging that things can go wrong and saying what they are doing to correct it. It would have been so easy to keep quiet - well done Ian. Kevin
  13. Yes it is Lexus Croydon - they had the car I wanted available immediately. Love to go to some meets, have to admit the RX-7 is my passion though and the IS is supposed to be my sensible daily drive so trying to avoid thoughts of mods for the IS, although that TTE supercharger looks interesting ........ Looking forward to my 240 mile drive to Leeds early tomorrow. Kevin
  14. Here she is: http://www.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/alb...lbum01/PC240067 The light was fading so doesn't really do the colour justice :D :D :D Kevin
  15. I was planning to get the IS200 in March next year but money needed spending on my old car (Escort) and figured I was better off putting that money towards the new car now. Kevin
  16. Worked out how to upload the Avatatar, will have to be the RX-7 until I get a decent photo of the IS200. Kevin
  17. First post here. Pick up my new car this afternoon, few things like the excitement of picking up a new car, can't wait :) :) :) It's Montrose Blue Kevin
