    Chances of finding an RCF with no chips will get less and less. What’s the average RCF mileage these days - 20.000? 

    I am expecting some paint chips. I am expecting to buy one with around 15k miles. Taking the car to the place you had it done is another advantage in terms of being able to have any paint chips rectified pre protection being applied. The only questions for me are around its protective properties, price and for me it being a 4 hour round trip for drop off and collection. Ultimately they cant guarantee against chips because a boulder could hit my car! It will be interesting when more comparisons are done between the two in terms of resistance to stone chips. Also, PPF has self healing properties so when it does pick up scratches it does self heal under warm conditions and I don't believe the spray on stuff does.

  2. I certainly won’t have one with no protection. I would use a chap who did my Evora and he uses subtec and expel so that’s all sorted. It’s mkrw the lifting on corners after 18 months or so and the lack of being able to fit to wing mirrors and tight curves cleanly that I don’t like. 

    Will be interesting to see what the quote comes out at when the time comes as I’d be after full front protection as well as roof and spoiler. 

    Also, the closest applicator is the place near you which is 2 hours from me. 

  3. Yup they list one but it’s a loooong way from me. Lichfield do it but charge a lot. From the digging I have done the product is still on its infancy and is more expensive than ppf with unproven protective priorities and durability over time and many washes etc 

     

    At the moment ppf wins out I think until this has been more thoroughly tested over a year or two on a car. I will get a quote from the folk who did yours for comparison though and who knows, if it’s a good price I may take a punt.

    I was thinking it may be too similar but the change from my 2008 isf is night and day. Far superior interior and totally different looks. 

     

    I guess the reason to get the m4 is to get something different but different isn’t always better. Not in my situation anyway. 

     

    I think this thread has simply confirmed my thought process which is no bad thing. Just want next year to be here so I can ‘f’ing buy one.... see what I did there?

    Agree with all of that and the rcf is too for me just wondering why other like minded folk went for the m4 instead.

    Understand, I was just keen to know peoples thought process when choosing one over the other. Given my points in my first post I see no point driving one and was hoping people’s reasoning may sway me to drive one to see if I was missing something.

  7. This is a genuine question and I ammgeen to get ex isf and rcf owner views. Not looking for an argument at all with this post. 

     

    Pros of the m4 from what I have read:

    - Quicker than f cars around a track and to 60 but marginally!

    - More tunable so easy to get extra power for not a lot of money. 

    - More affordable aftermarket options for parts. 

    - More entertaining and characterful drive. 

     

    Cons of the m4 from what I have read. 

    - Struggles to lay down the power in damp/wet conditions. I use the car all year so may get annoying on winter blats and wet track days.

    - Heavier depreciation than f cars bought used.

    - Less special as more common on the roads. (Lack of exclusivity)

    - Subjective but interior and exterior styling not as striking. 

    - I’d be very surprised if it was as reliable as the f cars. 

    - Extended warranty is a lot more expensive than f cars. 

    - More options from factory so harder to find had examples with spec a person would want whereas the f cars are pretty much fully loaded. 

    - The m4 engine exhaust bite doesn’t feel special. Even with aftermarket systems installed.
