That's probably just over an hour away, not far! Yeah it's nice, terrible weather at the moment though, constant rain and wind although probably not on the UK scale
-
May have been set by previous owner? If there was a previous that is!! Don't think its set as standard. The window feature isn't standard in the UK? My car does that - french
France eh...nice place to be. We're off the Loire in July.
What part of France are you in?
Yes it's possible. I'm hoping to link up my techstream once I find a version which covers the is220d.
I'm down south, not too far from Toulouse. Enjoy your hols!

Is your recirculate button switched on? Mine seems to steam up when it's been left on a while

Hi, I tried to use Techstream on my is220d but the version I received (V8.10.021) does not list the is220d. Does anyone know of a different version to use on this car and where to get it?
-
I connected the cable to my car earlier this week but the software version I have does not have the is220d in the menu. Does anyone know if other versions have the is220d included?
-
It's normal - well for this car anyway. Do you notice that the idle drops to around 800rpm when the engine gets up to temperature?
-
I'd be pretty unhappy with under 30 mpg to be honest, my mpg doesn't bother me at all though. Yeah for a ecu reset your better disconnecting the Battery overnight
-
I guess it will go into limp mode and throw up a fault code. The receipt that came with the car was around 300euro I think
-
Yes I did it when I bought the car. The EGR was also replaced last June - before I bought it
-
Have many people have had there is220d reprogrammed by lexus? Mine been in for an ecu reprogrammed in the past and I don't drop below 35mpg really, always short runs and town driving. I use premium diesel with an additive
-
Can this be switched on with techstream? I tried to connect my car to techstream yesterday but the is220d wasn't listed on it. I need to see if it's listed on any other software versions
-
Wow the mpg range for all these engines is massive. I do a lot of short journeys and town driving and I always average around 36mpg. I use premium diesel with an additive. 36mpg for a diesel isn't good but seems to be good compared to most others

.........And pay twice the price, the ones on eBay.de are legit. Your not going to get any problems inserting a DVD, unless you are seriously dim
-
Handling is fine for me too. it's my first RWD car and it feels a lot different to anything else I've ever driven and in a good way. It doesn't feel it's weight, it's nice to drive a car that doesn't under steer massively. It's no go kart but if I wanted that I'd by a "hot hatch". It is a very comfortable car which is what I wanted
-
I asked the same question with no reply. I didn't buy of them in the end, I found an original 2014 disc on eBay.de for around 70e. There seem to be a fair few on there. I'd rather pay the extra and have full confidence in it

Did you take it back to the dealer? Got your money back? I'm sorry you didn't like it, all I would say is that if you do enough research about any car you will will be scared off, people will always write about there problems and very rarely spend time to praise their car on the internet. That's not to say that I don't worry about certain aspects of my car. I do worry about the HG going but all the other things you mention can happen to any modern diesel, egr valves are a pain, dpf's are a pain and the 5th injector should have been sorted on recall.
If i lived in the UK there is no way I would own a 220d, the mpg does not make any sense to own a diesel when diesel is more expensive than petrol. The is220d is pointless in the UK when the is250 is available. You can't even use 6th gear legally over there.
-
If I had dpf problems I think I'd go for an emulator and dpf removal, new dpf's are far too expensive. The car would probably drive much better without it too! Yeah I'll let you know how it goes, it could be some time before I finish the tank though as I'm not doing many miles at the moment
-
Good news then! Hopefully it will continue to improve though as 29mpg is still pretty low - even for this car! I'm averaging 36mpg with a mostly town driving.
I haven't driven much with the tuning box, maybe 100 miles, the computer shows a big increase in mpg but these boxes always throw them out so i wont know until i refuel and work it out. Driving wise it's made the car much nicer and normal to drive, there is still some turbo lag but much less now. Pulling away from junctions is a lot less scary and it now pulls really well through the gears.
I'm still using Diesel Rhino fuel additive and it seems to be doing a good job, last tank i still averaged 36mpg when the car only did short journeys, The tank before was 36mpg and mostly motorway miles. I'm looking forward to seeing the EGR to see if the additive helps this! This is my forth tank and the effects are suppose to show more after the third! We'll see!

Very nice car Si, welcome to the forum!

There was one fitted to the car when I bought it so I couldn't comment on how good they are, I just gave it a clean last week. Installation is really basic, all you need to know is that the box can be stowed behind the headlight. There are conduits you can cable tie to for the routing.
I'll let you know how it goes over time

So with a little help from a fellow member on here (cheers Tom!) I have managed to get the tuning box fitted. Tom told me he has fitted his box in a spot behind the left hand side headlight. The box wedges in here very nicely!
I've only had chance to have a quick 5/6 mile drive so far but early impressions are good! Pick up and low down revs are much better, there is still turbo lag below 2k revs but not as bad, pulling away from junctions is not as scary anymore! The car pulls much better through the gears and I'm sure the need to drop a gear will reduce. The car is much quicker overall, but the change is not as much as I have seen on other cars. Overall i'm very happy with it, the main reason I bought it was to help below 2k revs and it has done this, whether mpg will change or the characteristics will continue to change remains to be seen! Oh and no smoke too, I suppose the dpf sorts this out
-
I get this problem too but just after the air con is switched off, I also get it if the re-circulation is constantly on but this is to be expected as no fresh air is entering the car so moisture can build up

Did you buy it private or from a garage? If from a garage take it back. I doubt Lexus would cover it but it's worth a try. You would need full Lexus service history to stand any chance. The car will need a scan to find out the real reason
