  1. Thanks for the diagrams and pictures, that makes it a lot clearer. I had seen a drawing that showed a square filter similar, but smaller than the air-con filter. I did feel someting similar to the circular filter in the photograph when I was rooting around, so I will look again when/if this rain stops! Pat
  2. Since I picked up my 2008 LS600hL a few weeks ago, I've noticed that the air flow from the ventilated seats is very much less than what I was used to on my GS450h. I can hear the fans running on the seats when I turn them on, but the air flow isn't enough to lift a tissue off the seat. A few other threads have mentioned blocked air filters under the seats, but there are definitely no filters fitted to mine. The filters in the glove box and the boot are clean. My local Lexus dealer couldn't find anything wrong and speculated that whatever had been used to clean the seats had left a residue that blocked the perforations in the leather. Can anyone come up with a better idea, or even a solution?? Thanks.
  3. Wow, that could explain it! I have done several hundred miles since I collected the car and this problem has not recurred, and like you say I was getting three beeps but no warning display. Thanks Graham!
  4. The car doesn't have LKA, or at least there is no switch for it on the steering wheel. As it only happened on the drive to Holyhead last Wednesday and not since, I'm just going to ignore it unless it happens again! Thanks for all the help.
  5. No, I had that problem on my old GS450H if one of the parking sensors got dirt on it, the beeping was similar but you would get a warning on the display also. From reading through the owners manual, I'm wondering if it was the driver monitoring system? I was driving west into a very strong setting sun, which the manual mentions might confuse it. However, apart from the beeping, there was no other indication as to what was causing it.
  6. Thanks for the information, those batteries are pretty small so I'm not surpried they don't last! I collected the car on Wednesday, and I am really delighted with it. Everything was exactly as described, but it also came with an iPod interface, along with a tracker and trafficmaster. Hopefully the iPod interface won't interfere with the iVic installation. Where did you mount the iVic module? One problem that arose on the drive home was an intermittent beeping noise, that seemed to start and stop at random. There was no alert displayed, so I'm at a loss to explain it. I've booked it into my local Lexus dealer for a checkup next week. More later...
  7. I finally managed to find a replacement for my '06 GS450h - http://www.martinatkinsoncars.co.uk/used/lexus/ls/600h-l-50-4dr-cvt-auto-rear-relaxation-pack/scunthorpe/lincolnshire/16153480 As I live in the West of Ireland, I haven't been able to inspect it but it looks good and the HPI checks out OK. I'm taking the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead on Wednesday, so if anyone can think of specific issues to look out for, I'd be most grateful. The VRT (import duty) at this end will cost about £5,800 but it's still a good deal as this model is extremely rare over here. The only items that I know are missing are the card key and the second set of cordless headphones. Anyone know what sort of cost is involved in replacing these? One accessory I would like to add is the Vaistech iVic, has anyone tried fitting one to an LS600, and how does it work with the rear seat entertainment package? Should I go for the iPhone or Android version? I'll update this post once I collect the car.
  8. I had this on my 450H, I think it was caused by a couple of redundant alignment pins at the top of the rear windscreen. You can carefully fold down the headlining while someone is driving the car to locate the exact source of the squeak. I can't remember how Lexus fixed it, but I believe there was a technical service bulletin that showed you what to do. Pat
  9. Very nice! I used to go hill walking up those peaks in the background. Fantastic view of Galway bay from up there.
  10. Thanks scythe, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I believe there were only 2 or 3 Presedential model cars sold in Ireland. I just missed one about a year ago, which was snapped up by someone with quicker reflexes than me. I had it for a test drive, and the specification seems the same. Because the VRT rebate on hybrid cars in Ireland included factory-fitted options (see above), Lexus hybrid models came fully loaded. Glad you like Galway, I live in Salthill right on the coast but just outside the city. Beautiful when the sun is shining, which usually happens on on the first Sunday in June each year!
  11. January 2005, so it's ten years now. Basicaly they spent a few months putting up new signs and then did a big unveil overnight if I remember correctly. I spent the first few months mentally converting distances back into miles, but I soon adjusted. Fuel consumption is a different matter, litres per hundred kilometers still means nothing to me!
  12. Mick, thanks for that which pretty much confirms what I thought. The writing table is part of the rear entertainment package that includes the reclining/massage rear seats, which takes up the centre rear seat. Chris, the VRT is about €10k which is £7,200 in your currency. Then there is the €1,800 annual road tax on top of that! The VRT is applied to all cars in Ireland, but up until about 2008 you could get the VRT refunded for an "environmentally friendly" car like my GS450h! This saved me about €20,000 off the price when I bought it from new. As a result, there was only one model of 450h sold in Ireland up to 2008 which included every option available for the car except a sunroof.
  13. So I am trying to do the reverse of jonthetourist and restore balance and equilibrium to the Lexus universe! I live in Ireland and drive a '06 GS450h, and I'm looking for a '09 / '10 LS600h L to import as they are as scarce as hen's teeth over here. It's going to be expensive, as I expect import duty (VRT) to be about €10,000 and the euro is not doing very well against Sterling at the moment, so I'm looking for the answers to a couple of questions to avoid expensive mistakes on my part: 1. We use kilometers for distance here, and the UK car will have MPH on the speedo - is it also marked in KM/H? 2. I doubt that the speedo can be changed to KM/H without considerable cost, but does the sat nav, odometer and cruise control allow the option using kilometers? 3. Did all LWB models come with the reclining rear seats and rear DVD player options as standard? I think this was called the Presidential Pack. 4. Was the sun roof standard? Basically, I want a fully loaded model, so I don't want to take delivery of a car and find that something I assumed was standard, is not included. 5. Is there anything else I should be aware of regarding common problems on this model, or differences on the UK version of the car. For example, i still have some random creaks and squeaks from the dash on my GS450h despite the dealers best efforts. Thanks! Pat
  14. I think this was the error that came up on my GS450h recently. The Lexus dealer knew about the problem and installed a software update for the ECU that fixed the problem.
  15. I hada similar problem on a '06 GS450h, that started off like yours. However it turned out to be one of the rear door lock mechanisms that was jamming. Initially, it was intermittent and you could hear the lock cycling as it tried to lock/unlock the door but eventually it jammed permanently. Lexus charged about €320 to replace the lock after "persuading" the rear door to open so that they could get the door card off and access the mechanism. **Edit** Just noticed that you could open the door with the key - that did NOT work for me, so I suspect that your problem lies with one of the controllers rather than with the lock mechanism itself.
  16. I agree, it's a 2006 car with only 49,000 miles on the clock. What I was told was that there were stripped teeth on one of the gears in the mechanism. Lexus have been good about replacing other bits such as rear brake calipers and an oil seal which were out of warranty, but they were not willing to do anything this time for me.
  17. Just to update you, Lexus were able to remove the door card and replace the lock. Total cost was €380 or about £320, so not as bad as I had expected. Pat
  18. Thanks, I was afraid that it would be something like that. I was hoping that there was some hidden lever that would manually unlock it, but I am booked into the local Lexus dealer for a quote. However, I suspect that I will just have to live with it.
  19. Hi, I have a 2006 GS450h which I have owned from new. Recenlty I have been having problems with unlocking the car as I could hear the door mechanism cycling several times when I tried to unlock it. Eventually I tracked it down to the right rear passenger door which refuses all attempts to unlock it. I assume it's a mechanical problem as I can hear the door motor trying to unlock, but how do I open the door to get at it?? Is it possible to gain access to the lock and manually open the door? Help! Pat
