  1. The CVT is fine and response feels great, just trying to master getting the best out of the system in terms of MPG. The huge difference for me is how much more planted it is on the road compared to my previous 250 SE-L, it feels so secure!
  2. I'm 22 and pick up my 300h on Wednesday.. Who says they're for old men?!
  3. I have to agree with Normski. I've just been and tested my IS250 also. Stood by the boot, or even the rear doors, the front doors will not unlock. I have to be within a good 2-3' in line with them, if not closer, for them to open. And the car won't start unless the key is somewhere in the cabin. She hates it when I step out of the car with the key in my pocket to help someone out or to get stuff from the boot. The internal bleep has a field day! Of course I imagine some keys may be more liberal than others but anything over 5' seems really excessive?!
  4. Looks sensational. Wondering what prices they're going to go for and what they're aiming it at as direct competition? M4 perhaps?
  5. ^ This. I don't see anywhere they could put it without it ruining the back end. Genuinely the advice of RainX is good though - used that on my 2nd gen IS250. :D Brill.
  6. I've seen the Ultra Blue, F Sport White, Celestial Black and Sonic Titanium in the metal so to speak and I must say the Sonic looks so good with the darkened F Sport alloys. I've gone with black and I'm a little worried about keeping it clean and chip free! I think I've got to accept that's not going to happen for very long..! The Ultra Blue seems like it would be a relatively easy colour to look after though - deep enough to swallow small imperfections and shine through dirt. Seen one on the M25 that was clearly a few weeks without a wash, but still stood out.
  7. I posted back in Feb looking at a new IS and wasn't getting a particularly great deal and decided to wait until late this year/early next year... Until my dealer emailed me out of the blue with the below offer! I've taken the plunge and just placed my deposit on an IS300h F Sport in Celestial Black with the upgraded Black Leather, Premium Nav and ML. It's a registered demo (from 31st July 2014..) and only done 24 miles, 14 of which were me! Got a whopping trade in on my 59 IS250 SE-L so I'm absolutely chuffed with it. Pick her up on the 22nd... Any tips for the first few weeks of learning nav/hybrid driving?!
  8. Hi all! I currently own a 59 plate Lexus IS250 SE-L and I love it. The only downsides are the fairly dismal fuel economy (my commute to work is a 2 mile, 5-15 minute drive depending on shift) and the design and interior does feel a little aged at times. When the IS300h was announced my interest was extremely high but I wasn't in a financial position to make a move. Fast forwarding to now, a few days ago I traveled to my not so local Lexus dealer where I bought my current IS from and took out the IS300h F Sport for what was meant to be an hour or so test drive. I signed the paperwork, they gave me the keys and I was free to enjoy. As you can probably guess, I returned not one hour later, but three! First impressions were extremely good. The looks translated from brochure into metal fantastically and the interior was every bit as classy as I expected. Driving wise I've driven a CVT car (although not a great one) before in the form of a Dodge so I knew what to expect there but hybrid tech is totally new to me. I was impressed. The power didn't feel particularly sluggish at all and the handling and ride was every bit what I wanted it to be. I took it on the motorway, country lanes and even to Tesco to get a full feel and found it engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. I returned with a smile on my face and sat down to discuss options. I've been offered a very good trade in for my car, almost what I'd be selling it for privately (I imagine this would be difficult anyway - not many want a thirsty saloon now!) which is great and I've been offered the car of my spec for £37,300. I make the options I have/want to be list at £39,700 (ML sound, Premium Nav, upgraded Leather seats, Ultra Blue paint and Superguard protection). This is on a PCP deal at 5.9% APR. Question is, £37,300 (well, £39,700) is a lot to be looking at on a car and there's a whole heap of motors - including cheaper ones - out there. Is it worthwhile? (I'm asking on a Lexus forum and as a Lexus owner you can probably tell where most of my feeling are already..!) Also, as a side note, does anyone have any tips of things to ask for to sweeten the deal if I was going to proceed? I do like those chronograph watches... :winky: This was their blanket first offer and I was surprised by the knock off of list and have confirmed it does include the above options! A final option is to wait for the new CT F Sport to hit showrooms and check that out..?! Thanks in advance!
