  1. It is extra safety. Your trunk lock has two positions. 1-open when lever is lifted 2-never open This is done to prevent a thief from smashing your window and simply being able to open your trunk
  2. yes everything original on both cars. I always think: Why try to improve the highly educated engineers and sofisticated simulation programs that made the car. If you modify stufff there is always a down side. And if you really improve the quality of some parts used then maybe a different more expensive car suits even better.
  3. My car besides petrol runs on liquid propane. gas (lpg) You can switch. On lpg it has its own set of injectors. (That makes twelve) Since It only starts on petrol the petrol fuel injectors are not used very often. On lpg the engine runs smoothly, without movement or controlling the air valve. The fuel injector suggestion might be useful. I took apart the array of petrol fuel injectors. They seemed clean. Since I don't have proper equipment I'll go to the dealer on monday.
  4. Anyone has a step by step instruction for changing the oil of a manual transmission gearbox?
  5. Hi, I have an is200 as well as a xedos6. I consider the 6 as the high quality /luxury car. It is more silent and has more luxury (seat heating, atm) where the luxury can be available in more expensive is200's and is default in the is300. Advantage of xedos: No problems at all for already 10 years. My is200 had a stuck cd changer, jutter in clutch, unstable idle speed. Engine of the xedos6 sounds more smooth than the is200. Advantage of is200: On the road like a train on rails. The xedos can absolutely not tip the cornering capabilities of the is200.
  6. My is200 has hickups when idling with a warm engine. I cleaned the air intake valve/chamber wich improved the problem a bit: If you look at the lever that controlls the engine running speed under the hood it used to automatically move with short bursts. That caused the engine to shake at traffic lights. With the cleaned valve that was immediately gone. The lever does no longer move; but you still feel the car move. Ít's less now so if I.m tired it looks like i'm imagining, but I'm sure it's still there. What else can I clean? There is no diagnostics code set. I read at http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h26.pdf that for a set of conditions there is a target idle speed. If the actual speed is off with more than 20 rpm then the state of the iscv (idle speed control valve) is adjusted. I noticed by taking of the intake of the iscv that no air passes it if the engine is warm. Apparently the leak air from main valve is enough. The iscv circuit does work because if i put my hand on the main intake than the iscv starts to pass air (not enough; the engine stops), Question: What if the programmed target idle speed is too low? How can I increase that programmed parameter?
  7. It is not needed to take the undercover away. Lie down at the left side of the car with your head a bit behind the left front weel. The first time it is tightend very hard in the factory. There is not much space to use tools.
  8. Hi, I replaced them a month ago. You remove the air filter (three bolts) and then see the top of the engine with per cylinder a bobine that is fed by an electrical connector. Disconnect them take away the 6 bolts of the six bobines and pull them out. The sparkplugs can be removed and replaced. Only needed after 90000 km though. It's an easy job where the hardest part is to find the spark plugs. Your user manual specifies the type Bought them at the dealer for far the lowest price compared to internet prices.
