  1. Does anyone know yhe exact location of the speed sensor wire on a 2001 is200 se manual, prefereably not behind the clocks. I have searched the net and there are a lot of conflicting results. How can you test it with a multimetre, do you put it on AC or DC. Thanks
  2. Anyone have any idea what the colour of the wires will be for the cigarette lighter switched live and also the permant live from the radios amp. Many thanks
  3. Where is the best palce to tap in to get a live and a switched live on a 2001 is200 se. I need to run a navigation system and monitor from it. Thanks All.
  4. Are those top dash trays same as the 04 is200 ones, any idea how much. I want to fit a screen in there.
  5. :tsktsk: there just no stoping you is there mate now you say the Finash is not as good as the B*W's and Audi IMO i think the IS Finash is 10 times better than the B*W as the IS is STD and for what you get in an IS, you would have to pay out about 8K more to get the same in a B*W as you get in an IS . reliability not that good in B*W but you still had 4 of them you dont have a B*W bage on your IS do you BMW wheels dont rust after 6 months. Enough said really. IF you dont like the :tsktsk: ing IS mate and you love the B*W so much why the **** did you buy a LEXUS for PLEASE tell, ;) Deep Down you know the IS is better than B*W thats why you have IS NOW :P reliability as I have previously stated

  7. Go test drive a BMW then you will know what I mean. For the Class it is competing in it should be a lot better. As I said I have owned 4 BMWs in the past so I am not talking :tsktsk: as you put it. I now drive an IS200 mainly for reliability and no sorry I cant be biased just stating what I think from my experience. I know people on this club like to look down on the BMW drivers but until you tried one you wont know why so many people buy them now. Acoording to Which magazine the latest 3 series is much improved in reliability so I may change to that. The fit and finish of the interior is well below german rivals such as Audi and BMW aswell, also much more noise inside aswell.
  8. I dont think those prices would have met the reserve. I went there once and bid on an X reg is200 SE Silver. I was the highest bidder at ££8700. I was told reserve was not me and their client was looking for £9600. The car was very scruffy so I did not bother. I later brought a mint Y reg for £10,400 with 60K on it. I think all this cost business is getting out of hand. The best way to service a lexus is to buy a prepaid service plan. That way you pay in advance so you get no nasty surprises. A three year plan will probably cost the same as one serice, you may as well buy the plan and then enjoy 3 years without worrying about paying for services, you can also pay for the plan by direct debit. My last 60K service cost £570.90. I gave the service plan voucher which cost me about £125. It cleared the whole bill. i just paid £40 for the mot. I was well chuffed. This way it cost me less for servicing than my Citroen Saxo VTR. You just have to do a little homework and a bit of shopping around. Dont let cost put you off. For driving experience it is nowhere near as good as BMW, no matter what anyone says I have owned a few and they are a lot better to drive than the is200. The downside was reliability, those BMs go wrong all the time, hence the reason to change to Lexus. Reliablity has been great so far but not as fun or smooth to drive as BMW. Dont let me put you off weigh it all up and come to a decision of your own. I hope I have been of some help
  9. Not sure what UK dealer you went to for your info, I only paid around £160 for mine. Where did you get it for £160?
  10. Any one know the part no. for the top dash trays as fitted to the 2004 is200 and also how much thaey cost?
  11. The vehicle has been serviced by lexus, and no it was not purchased from Croyden Lexus, I am just saying the warranty expired while I was waiting for the service plan to come through. Given Lexus reputation I did not think they would be so strict with the 60K so I wauted for the plan to come through so I would get the service done and get the wheels looked at at the same time. Croyden is a long way from me so I didnt want to go there just for the wheels and then go again for the service.
  12. Here is the story, I purchased a Lexus 2 Year service plan from Lexus Croyden, My car had done 59250 miles at the time. I was told the service plan would be with me within 5 days, I thought great I will get the car serviced and get those corroded wheels replaced under warranty while I was at it. Well the service plan arrived 5 weeks later after several phone calls. by this time my car was on 61,000 miles and still under 3 years old. I did not think anything of it that it had passed 60,000 miles as I assumed it was Lexus`s fault that I got to them late and they would still replace the wheels. How wrong was I!!!! Croyden refused to do anything about, so I complained to Lexus UK and here is their reply: Further to our conversation yesterday I have now had the opportunity to discuss your concerns with Lexus Croydon and regret to inform that we will be unable to contribute towards the cost of replacing your alloy wheels. As you have mentioned your vehicle is now outside of the warranty period. Under certain circumstances Lexus (GB) have been in a position to contribute towards the replacement of problematic alloy wheels with a refurbished wheel, which has proved successful in preventing any further pitting. However, Lexus (GB) are unable to contribute towards vehicles that do not have a full service history with Lexus or which have been purchased from outside of the Lexus Centre network. It is worthy of note that any vehicles purchased from within the Centre network are provided with twelve months warranty and we would expect any selling Lexus Centre to have attended to any alloy wheel issues prior to sale. In closing, thank you again for taking the time to contact us and I am sorry that we are unable to assist on this occasion Yours sincerely Aaron Simmons Lexus (GB) Ltd I must add that my car does have a full Lexus service history and according to the warranty book the 3 year manufacturer warranty passes on to the new owner regardless of where it was purchased from. Anyone any ideas what I can do, I expected better from Lexus than this.
  13. You could fit a seperate navi box with a screen
  14. I have been told you can also find it by the footwell, a blue/white wire, I have found this wire but is it the right one? Steveaudio when are your monitors going up fo sale, I need one!!
  15. I dont suppose you know of a more accesible place where the speed pulse can be found. Also I contacted alpine and they said a remote eye is available seprately which plugs into to the navigation unit so that will solve one problem. Thanks
  16. Any one know where the speed pulse signal is located for the is200 se 2001, I need it to fit a navigation system, also question for steve audio, I want to use your motorized monitor with an Alpine DVD navigation system, the problem is the Alpine unit uses a remote control, I am assuming it takes the infrared signal from the Alpine screen, If I use you screen which is not Alpine how can I use the remote? Thanks in advance
  17. Any prices yet, I have an Alpine ina N333R sat nav unit which I was going to put in as i took it out of my other car, however I didnt want to get rid of the standard head unit. Your solution looks like what i am looking for, any ideas on the prices? Also if I brought the monitor on its own will i be able to hook up an Alpine Navigation system or do I need to stick with VDO? Thanks
