  1. Good to know about this way thanks a lot. I took the headliner out and there are two clips on both sides which needs to be cut out and then the metal piece where clips goes through must be bended away a bit. Since I have done that also have not noticed any creaking again
  2. Hi mate I wouldn't recommend younto replace just one shock absorber. Especially for KYB 551107 if you have an old OEM part on right side. The difference in performance on both sides might be noticeable an ij the worst situation car can be unstable and ride quality drop down. Anyway this part should fit UK model as Andyb63 has written above. All the best
  3. Yeaah i had to cut one seized bolt as well, nightmare
  4. let me know when you do the job how these KYB are working. I did the job myself it isnt so difficult but takes a long time using jack and stands. But as I can see I saved 200-400 thats great. Anyway I dont trust any garage, nobody really care about doing the job properly and now I know its done perfectly. Regards
  5. On lexuspartsdirect you can get all 4 shocks fo 567£ and thats what I did.
  6. I would try amayama first on your place. If shocks are in stock you will pay less and get original parts. I read some reviews on US forums abouy Kayaba monotubes and wasnt really sure about their work They might be a bit more tough and ride quality can go down thats why I didnt decide to buy them. If you buy them let me know how it works on your car their price is also very good. Lexus dealeships prices are ridiculous.
  7. I love my car sound now it sounds like a real V6 and gives more fun. When driving under a load and gently depress the gas pedal it is very noticeable in range of 1500 - 2500 rpm. Over that the sound is brilliant. Quiet but nice roar in background. One thing more the pipes size is also very important so the smaller pipe the quieter is system but it cant be too small because it would make gasses to flow slower and have bad influence on your engine. My pipes if I well remember are 2inch/2.25 or 2.25/2.5 inch.
  8. Hi I had exactly the same problem. If you want to keep your exhaust as stock sounding as possible do not got into whole cat back replace. Just do a middle piece which is damaged and leave rear end as it is. It will be louder anyway if they fit a free flow muffler. It is good to ask for a chambered muffler this is the best option if you want to keep your car quiet. If you want to experiance a wild beast go for a cat back system without middle muffler. With middle muffler it will be quieter but still loud. My exhaust now is made from chambered middle muffler (the biggest they could fit), and free flow both rear end silencers. To sum up: - stock OEM exhaust - silence - chambered middle muffler and two free flow on the end - silence on highway, a bit of nice roar in range of 1500-2500 rpm - whole cat back free flow - loud system especially when driving under a load - without middle muffler - sound like a race car and you cant hear your own thinking. I hope it help you.
  9. Yes you are right but straight from dealer Ive been quoted for 720 minus 10% discount for LOC but they gave a price of 567 so there is a difference
  10. Hello, The problem is that my source don't have it in stock at the moment unfortunately, but anyway it is amayama.com , they have everything OEM for japan cars, searching is by OEM part numbers and they have great prices even including all taxes and import duties. I had to finally buy shocks from lexuspartsdirect they also have very good prices comparing to these which you can get from a dealer.
  11. I can see that nobody knows anything about it, so I want to share my research with you, maybe it will help someone in future. I asked same question to lots of Lexus Dealers' parts departments and that's the conclusion. Half of them did not respond to this question, 4 said that shock absorbers are mono tube, 2 said they are twin tube and one technician did not know what I meant. Lexus dealers wants over 700£ for all 4 shock absorbers. I know the genuine parts are made by KYB. KYB in their catalogue shows Gas A Just (mono tube) shocks as an Recommended OE replacement. Unfortunately they are not on sale in UK and has to be imported from US. Their price is 360$ for all 4 so even with import taxes are much cheaper (Around 430£). Finally I am going to import shocks from Japan for same money but they are definiately genuine OE. I am not really sure if these KYB Gas A Just are made to OE specification so I decided to get OE shocks from Japan for around 400£. I just do not know how can Lexus dealers have so high prices if these parts can be bought for 3 times less. I hope it will help to anyone interested :)
  12. Hi All, Do anybody know what shock absorbers we have on our GS's? Is it mono tube or twin tube? I mean for cars without adaptive suspension. Did anyone of you ever tried to replace shock absorbers with Kayaba Monotube ones? Regards Mateusz
  13. Sadly I have.. Does it happens on your car on warm days only or all the time? I haven't found a solution for that yet, but it happens on my car only on warm days so I need to wait for spring/summer to find and kill this rattle.
  14. It's on 55 plate and it happens all the time. I think I found a solution. I took out the panel and there it is built from 2 plastic covers and it was moving. I taped with anti squeak tape the connection between them and it stopped.. but only for a month, now it's back but quieter. Before the job it was so loud I coould hear it while listening to music LOUDLY. Did you try to resolve this problem at all? I already took the panel out around 5 times and I do not fancy doing it another 5 times..
  15. Yeaah it might be very thick. Yes mate you have to push it in quite firmly but you will feel whether it is too thick or not while you do it. I used a plastic trim remover for door panels etc, but you can use a screwdriver buy you have to tape it to do not scratch dashboard and windshield. It has not mis shaped or bend anything, the only thing I saw it was the dashboard going slightly down when I was pushing it in but it had to happen to stiffen the clips' connections and now is not moving anymore. I made a longer bundles and pushed them in along the whole dashboard not only where clips are, just in case :) This black stuff is Anti Squeak Tape you can easily get it on ebay and it does a great job on silencing any rattles, I done a lot of issues using it around my Lex
  16. Hi I did not take pictures of inside the car because you would not see anything but I took photos of felt I used and a way I did it. Thickness as I said before depends on your car's dashboard free play in specified areas. Generally it should be applied there where are clips fitted. Here is a drawing of that I applied along the whole dashboard anyway. Here you can see a felt folded and prepared to application On the passenger side was the biggest gap and I had to apply even thicker piece than this one: It needs to be thicker than the gap between dashboard and windscreen to expand and stiffen it. When you push it in you will see how dashboard stops to move. It is a bit annoying job because when you have a prepared piece of felt than you see it is too thin or to thick and you have to rework it etc.. but when you finally do it properly you will HEAR a difference and driving become more enjoyable.
  17. The piece of felt they put for you is probably as thin as piece of paper so it will not help with this problem. The way I told you before I did on my GS300 and it made a huge difference. I am fighting with all rattles on my car because it is the only annoying thing about this car. Anyway, I folded the felt to thicknes of around 0,5 - 1,5 inch depending on the side of dashboard. The biggest gap between windscreen and dashboard on my Lex was on the passenger side and it was getting lower towards me (driver side). I will try to take some pictures tomorrow (if I dont forget). It is very hard to see in the car and you can't see it while you drive. I have some felt remaining so I will take a picture and show you how I did this.
  18. Hello ! It is a commom problem on GS. The easiest way to fix that is to buy a piece of fabric felt on ebay, fold it a few times and push between dashboard and windscreen. I have resolved my rattle in this way. The reason why it happens is that the dashboard fitting clips gets loose with time and the dashboard is moving a bit in the area where it meets a windscreen. By pushing a felt in this gap between you will stiffen the connection between dashboard and windscreen. There is a lot in this subject in USA forums

  20. Hi ! I experience an annoying rattle/squeak from a control panel (this one on the right from the steering wheel) do anyone have a similar problem and any solution for that? I already took it out and covered some areas with anti squeak tape but it didn't help at all..
  21. Hi ! This car as every other needs to work at all range of rpms, obviously the fuel consumption raises a lot but you should give your car some 'heavy foot' from time to time, it is good not only for a transmission but for cleaning engine deposits and catalytic converter as well. If you want your car to be reliable and running smoothly for a long time let him 'go crazy' from time to time :)
  22. I have read some bad opinions about MIJ thats why I did not gave them a job on my Lex. Which part of your exhaust did you replace? Whole cat back? Because Birmingham Lexus quoted me for silly 1200 quid for middle part of exhaust ( two cats and middle muffler) OEM exhaust is great for the silence it gives but could be slightly more aggresive as it should be for V6 :)
