  1. Zoran, just wanted to say that I had solved the issue of the throaty sound. I changed the air filter today and it was pretty nasty, all black and thick with muck. Anyway long story short, took it for a drive and it is quiet and smooth now. Just waiting for the bg244 to turn up and I will be doing that next.
  2. Hi, I am a complete noob when it comes to this sort of stuff. However when I took the egr off the was no fluid in it so I will say that there is no chance of coolant leakage. As for the inlet manifold I don't know, there is a manifold under the egr but I don't think that is the inlet.
  3. Zoran, have you ever experienced a throaty sound around the 1750 Rev region when driving? I plan on getting some bg244 on Friday and hope that this will clean the engine up from any deposits that may be making the noise but just wondered if you had, or anyone else had experienced it
  4. After I cleaned the valve I took it for a quick drive to see whether the was a difference and I noticed that great changing was smoother, mpg seemed a lot better although I need to take it for a longer run and it also pulled off a lot smoother too
  5. Cool, I'll give it a go next I think. Do you notice a big difference in performance as you get close to clean period?
  6. Which oven cleaner do you use? I went at it with a small screwdriver and a cab of carb cleaner.
  7. I use vpower too, and probably going to use bg244 as suggested by others on here. When you clean it out do you clean the metal pipe too? I tried as best I could although it wasn't that bad
  8. Yeah it was pretty bad, gutted I didn't take photos but the appeture in the manifold was around 3-4mm in diameter! The egr itself was pretty bad too, probably 5mm thick at its worst parts
  9. Don't worry about it now. Cleaned the egr, hoovered of the manifold and rebuilt. Reconnected the battery and the only thing was the windows that needed resetting
  10. Hi all, first time posting. I am about to embark on cleaning up the egr valve but wanted to ask a couple of questions first. When disconnecting the battery, apart from the auto function of the windows is there anything else I need to be aware of when reconnecting it? And when cleaning the manifold out of carbon, is it best to hoover it out, or does it matter if a little fall's inside? Thanks in advance
