  1. Update: Looks like the issue is resolved. Advised 4 hours in workshop to hunt it down, several test drives as well. Couldn't get much more info but he mentioned trim removal and refit and padding. I took it over roads that typically set it off, nothing. Got a motorway run this weekend that would also cause it to go off, hoping its an "all clear'! Warning: advised that Lexus has recently changed trim warranty investigations down from the 3 year full warranty period to 18 months or 20k miles. I just slipped in underneath this. Chris
  2. Update: I mailed Lexus Liverpool today to tell them the noise was still there. Shared the advice from on here and they are keen to talk monday and have allocated workshop/investigation time next thursday, very willingly infact. Lexus service shining through. just hope they can resolve this time (3rd times a charm 🙂 ). @jumbojake, I purchased some of the tape for an intermittent creak in the center console (when leaning on it). Hopefully works!
  3. Hey, yes agree, exactly like two sticky surfaces taking on and off each other! Annoyingly it comes and goes. Sometimes its just over the biggest of jolts, other times its near continuous and even the engine starting up will set the noise off with vibration. It isn't the top piece around the grill, its the lower flat piece with the vent in. I've tried jamming credit cards and folder paper up between the two parts thinking it was an interface noise, but it still persists. The only way of stopping it (and Lexus garage saw this as well) was to place hand on top of the area towards the back. I'm starting to suspect that its also temperature related. Didn't have the issue in winter, suggesting that its something very slightly moving in a gap. Chris
  4. Was it a clicking noise like this (turn up volume). When i place my hand on the flat panel (not the speaker panel), it goes. https://1drv.ms/v/s!Ahowv1VKiW-Hmsp5wPWhA7OIW3vjDA
  5. I have just upset myself. Looks like the part is a single piece of most of the dash. The closest things i could see was removing the defrost nozzle and maybe pushing something into the void. Looks like a weekend Job. Will keep you posted. The tech guide is fascinating!
  6. I know exactly where it is, this post is help to understand how to remove the trim piece in the area.
  7. Hi All, I recently changed from a 2017 - 2020 RX (lack of car play was driving me insane, but i loved the rest of the car). Both the old and the new have a terribly annoying trim noise that comes from the location in image attached. Its resolved by merely placing hand (without any pressure) on the top towards the back. My question to my fellow enthusiasts - anyone know how to resolve (or remove the trim piece for me to). It's been to Lexus and they heard it but were unable to resolve twice now. They took the pillar trim off and re-attached and made no difference (as that wasn't the location). I will be asking to go back, dont want to push my luck with them though as been un-charged each time. Thanks!
  8. I have a 2020 and tried to emulate your fault. It did not behave as you stated. Does this happen when connected with cable on carplay. it routes the audio through cable there. If it still happens when cabled would suggest a phone reset before heading to dealer to check on infotainment software.
  9. Yeah a little hard. But I can always find a way round in my head. It’s 2.5 months of the lease on my GTI 😂
  10. Yes I felt that also. I told them between 5-5.5, but they were not willing to shift.
  11. It appears to have had break issues a couple of years back but passed. Theyve said they resolve both before sale. What are thoughts on price?
  12. Ok update. Found a 350 SE relatively nearby and took it for a drive. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201908231458062 There were 2 immediate on test drive issues that they said they’d resolve should I go for the car: 1. Breaks were weak and crunchy. Worn disks and pads? 2. Knocking at low speed going over touch surfaces (like pothole/manholes). Worn suspension bushing? everything else was good, no damp carpets, clean and strong engine, good gbox and underside was immaculate and no noticeable rust spots. The only issue I have is the price. Practically 6k seems high...thoughts?
  13. Unfortunately I was in the US and only just got back today. Oh well 🙂
  14. Well that’s done. Went to view and it’s been sold. Hope it wasnt one of you lot 😉 joking aside, going to keep an eye out for similar ones now 🙂
  15. Thanks PCM. When you say check it it comes on when driving, how would you know? I’ve had a Range Rover and a VW with air suspension and you couldn’t hear the compressors when they ran unless you had hood open.
  16. Yes it seems like a steal. Tbh I may buy this and use it occasionally, if it breaks then make a call at that time. I’ll check the underside but I’m expecting some minor-moderate surface rust on a car this age that hasn’t been treated. When im done with the current work assignment i’ll probably switch to a nearly new NX or RX. Going to view the car Sunday, will keep you posted!
  17. After owning a Ct200h and then a GS250 I left and had a few other cars which were good but left me wishing I’d not left the Lexus family. I’d go off and get a newish GS again in a shot but im going to get hardly any use out of the car for the next couple of years due to travel with work. As such I’m looking at using the 5-6k I have available that is normally put on a pcp or hop deposit and just buy out right. Ive done some forum trawling and it looks like people advise to steer clear of RX’s with air suspension. This one looks to be a decent price and very low mileage, thoughts? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201909122139219 Any advice from the wise forum members?
  18. So my worries were unfounded - it is just the noise of direct injection! Whilst in though there were two other things they picked up on: - Noisy seat cooling fan, being replaced under warranty! - Potential need to replace from bumper! Someone left a scuff on the passenger side front bumber (and a light one at that). I asked for a replacement clip but it seems that multiple "internal" clips are broken. Bracing for the worst! Thanks for all the words of assurance guys :)
  19. I've done all testing with the aircon off up to this point. Surprisingly it makes little or no discernible difference. Garage visit tomorrow - wholly expecting being told that its normal now after the feedback from all of you guys.
  20. The more if listen and investigate myself the more i can see it being the injectors - maybe its not developed and im just becoming more sensitive the noises it makes!
  21. Thanks for the information all. The more i look into it the more it seems that other owners notice the noise. Apparently its to do with the direct injection system?
  22. Thanks for the info. My concern is that this has developed and in my opinion makes the car sound rough/old. I've got a session booked next week with Lexus Edinburgh to review so will report back then.
  23. Had mine a month and i agree with all your points. coming from a CT200h it is a HUGE step up on quality. Having engine issues at the moment - hopefully its just a small timing thing that the garage can sort easily!
  24. I've had the car a month now. In town i am getting 22-25MPG . On the motorway this climbs to 33-36MPG.
