  1. They never came on the MK3 the DHP was a option on the MK4. So your car would have originally come with 16" wheels. I have the DHP wheels on my MK3 and I think they make quite a difference to the look and also a bit more grip being 245's instead of 225's.

Biggest problem with the DHP wheels is finding the correct size tyres. They run Pirelli assemetricos which are £250 new! Ouch. They are the same size as base spec XK8 wheels/tyres though so sometimes you can pick up tyres searching under that.

The detailer guy suggested it was up around 320bhp.  Just about 100 less than the ISF we giggled.  All the same.......All that in the front of a MK2 Escort !!! WoW and double WOW.

I had the LS1 in my old 1999 Camaro. It put down 315 rwhp & 325 rwtq, t56 6 speed manual car. 320bhp sounds right.

The LS1 is very similar in size to the Rover V8 so quite small in dimensions as far as V8's go and its all alloy.

Some ones gonna have to have big balls to open that up to full throttle with those little wheels!!!

  3. Thats a good price. I had a shock replaced under warranty last year but this years MOT was a disaster. 3 new tyres and the all the brake lines replaced!! Days labour to change the break lines. Cost something like £1500 in total with the tyres. You got off lightly! This was at the dealers which in hindsight I should have taken the car elsewhere but I have the service package with them.

  4. Whereabouts did you advertise your ISF's? I've been keeping a eye on them and not much coming up at the moment. To be fair I won't be properly looking to buy until next month or later in the year.

Tim did you sell your car to someone who lives in Stranraer? Bit of a trek, and a majorly potholed road last time I drove it (from the M6).

  5. Well fitted the new unit over the hols. Very easy to change. The second hand light cluster had the wiring attached. All I had to do was remove the Battery cover and a few more plastic tabs to get the lining back far enough to reach in and undo 3 fixing bolts which are very lightly torqued. Plugged in the new unit and bolted up, all working 😊

Probably a 10 minute job if you've done it before. Took me half an hour being cautious.

  6. Kal, if you get sensor errors it will throw a light on the dash and display check hybrid system. However this doesn't mean the Battery pack is at fault it just means theres a fault in the system. You most likely don't have any Battery related issues, just a cam sensor thats maybe getting slightly intermittent. Out of interest did it happen when the engine started or when it was already running?

Do yourself a favour and buy a OBD2 reader so you can read and clear codes.

As Lee and Roy have suggest the hybrid health check at Lexus is worth doing as if all clear its covers you for 12 months if the Battery pack does fail. Plus you usually have your car valeted for free.

Let us know how you get on with it.

  7. Brill, thanks for the advice Lee.

Yes its the outer unit in the image above that is broken. I've managed to get one for £50 off eBay. Looks identical with the wiring and backing plate attached so hopefully just plug and play once I manage to remove the old unit.

It looks to me like the unit is only held on with one fixing in the image above and also the pics of the one I've bought look the same. We will see!

Hopefully have the unit on Friday and fit over the weekend.
