  1. Not wishing to become embroiled in any disagreement, no matter how amicable, these are my thoughts for what they are worth. Like all walks of life, there are good motorcyclists and there is the loony types too. We live not too far from the M3 at a point where there are several roads favoured by motorcyclists and on bright clear peaceful Sunday mornings it is like living close to a F1 racetrack. These Jap bikes reach screaming high RPM and we can hear motorcyclists wind the revs up and change gear to wind it up again. I wonder what speed is achieved when the engine is screaming in 4th or 5th gear. I wonder what the RPM is too. Scary! I have a friend who rides a large BMW, seems like a sensible rider. The effect on the family and others involved when a motorcycke crashes is obviously grave (pardon the pun) and I extend my sympathies to those involved. The only upside, callous as it may be, is the opportunity to donate organs. Sorry, was that too much ?
  2. Thanks Paul, I have just tried to add my car to my profile, hmmm! Will try again later. It's a CT200 Premier 2011 and I love it ! Anyway, the camera. There are a number of guide lines and different modes that can be used and It must be easier to use than we (wifey and me) are making of it so I have been looking for some instruction in the manual but that is pretty poor. Perhaps I'm too thick and will have to sit down and read/play with some effort. I agree re the "don't need it" but waiting for the "gosh, makes life easier" bit. Thanks anyway for coming back to me.
  3. Hi all, The manual has poor instructions about using the reversing camera on the CT200. Despite searching I have been unable to find an online video explaning how to use it. Does anyone have any links to such a beast?
  4. Hi Stompe, As Wass has said, "no" but there are mitigating options. I have a 2011 CT Premier and ot a spacesaver from Fleabay for £60. It fits under the underfloor boot storage but leaves the storage tray elevated by about 50mm at the rear end. I intend to cut the tray on each sode and rear leaving the front uncut. Then bend the rear top and bottom to overlap by the 50mm and then fix (pop-rivet ?) together again. That will make the bottom of the tray at an angle matching the spare wheel. In my case, the goo and compressor, jack etc still fits in/around the spare with room to spare. I haven't tried the spare on the vehicle yet, thats the next job. Good luck. Edited on 04/11/15 to add :- Hmmm! Just tried the wheel on the car and it doesn't fit. Might have something to do with the amount it interferes with the boot floor.
  5. Hi all, Just recently bought a CT200h and the ML audio was faulty. To be fair, the guy did point out that the volume control on the centre console wasn't working but it did other things instead. (the volume on the steering wheel is working). I discovered that the volume issue was small compared to the issues of changing discs etc. so I decided to have a dig around because the price of a head unit is hideous. Thinking that there seemed to be a logic problem I disconnected the battery (reset?) but that didn't do anything. Then decided that it was a pain in the ***** playing around so I pulled the head out to take it apart and see if there was any way to do a logic reset. Turns out that it was a poor connection on a ribbon cable. Here is how I fixed it. Remove the head unit from the car (there are instructions elsewhere online about that). With the head unit on the bench remove the half a dozen or so small screws that hold the black plastic front panel on. Pull off the two knobs and release the few plastic clips that hold the front panel on. BE VERY CAREFUL RIBBON CABLES ARE FRAGILE ! There is a ribbon cable that connects the front panel to the unit. Stiff areas at each end of that ribbon cable allow it to be pulled CAREFULLY out of each socket, Start with the one on the panel itself and then remove the ribbon from the unit NOTING THE ORIENTATION. Clean the ribbon cable and then re-install it. Reassembly is simply a reversal of taking it out. Damn site cheaper than a head unit and I am well chuffed.
  6. Hi all, Well, went to drive it today. Wifey was quite happy (PHEW !) and we got it for 9.4k Definately has all the toys and well pleased are we. I am quite impressed with the accelleration because it is better than the turbo 1.6 diesel ****roen Picasso, which was faster than the 2.0 turbo diesel Picasso we had before that. Cornering can be done at higher speeds and feels faultless and much more comfortable. Thanks for all the info, I am one happy bunny
  7. Thanks for the input everybody. Looks like I have found a 2011 premium (or whatever is the correct title) which will cost me around £9,5k with 60K miles. Looks like the whole deal with Mark Levinson etc. All I have to do now is persuade the missus! Don't think that will bw an issue. Keep fingers crossed.
  8. Hi Mikey, Well, under £10,000 would be nice, being on a fixed limited income more than that would be a struggle. I do limited miles now (about 7k to 8k per annum) so a higher mileage car would not be a really major problem so I am scanning all the ads now. As I said in my original post, I am currently driving a Cit Picasso and I feel that it is time to give up the "covered wagon" for maybe a "surrey with a fringe on top". :o Don't get me wrong, I have had Citroens for about 30 years and they have all served me well (BX19 was quick, could do 80MPH in second gear before the rev counter red-lined, look out boy racers ) The current Pic doing an easy 48 MPG. Hi again Colin, thanks for that. I have to say that the standard of fittings and all the bells and whistles is pretty damn good. Appreciate any comments on this but it is off topic :- Does anyone know how the second hand motor trade views Lexus, I mean, are they scared of the hybrid's, do they sell well or generally seen as stones to sell etc ?
  9. Many thanks for your time guys, it is much appreciated. I spent a week, ok, not a week solid but still a lot of time, reading everything I could find on the web about the CT200. I saw lots of bits and pieces but never any form of chart. This morning reading your replies I spotted, Colin's reply, "active brake lights" and thought "What the ..."? So I did a search and I stumbled into an online brochure for the CT200 which also contains a chart of specs. The brochure is dated December 2012 and as luck would have it, I will only be able to afford a 2012. Doesn't mention "one touch lock" or "puddle lights" but still ... Here is a link should others be interested - https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CDEQFjAAahUKEwj1lfrx89fIAhVIExoKHe-WBBc&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.teesside.lexus.co.uk%2Fmedia%2F286325%2Fct%2520brochure%2520and%2520specification.pdf&usg=AFQjCNGArbfx9zVbQZkyGFlZ7hUEtxbx3A The link is a Google link which goes directly to the PDF which is on the website of Teeside Lexus (thanks Teeside) which I can only find by going via Google. As far as "what do I want", well, I guess I am a bit like a kid in a candy store, I want it all. Probaly won't ever use it but ... Though I only mentioned Colin above each of you has provided a little bit more to educate me, so thanks to you all.
  10. Hi everyone, Firstly, many thanks for sharing so much information on here, simply invaluable ! I won't be buying a new one 'cos too many pennies required but I am getting very close to deciding that a CT200 will be my next car (currently a citroen Picasso, stop laughing!) and I want to find out what models have what features. As an example, I know some have electric seats, usually specified in the adverts but seat memory is not mentioned. Which models have puddle lights or one touch locking and such like I can't find any grid or comparison chart anywhere on the web. Can anyone point me in the right direction please ? Thanks for reading.
