  1. Just got the car back and i could not be happier with the work done :D :D They did not want to spend too much time investigating the problem so they just changed every part to do with the timing belt, (tensioners etc) so i can not tell you what the outcome was sorry. Lexus attitude and service towards me is five star :D :D
  2. I am only 22 and a rude boy i am previously owning a saphire cosworth I thought it was time to get something classy. The Is200 is very popular in south wales thats why you have to spend the money to make it stand out from the rest
  3. The car has only just gone in today mate so they are still looking into it. one mechanic thinks it could be that the material of the belt was changed in 2001 so it could be brittle and moving forward to take up the slack. i will keep you posted on the outcome
  4. I have just bought 2 new 18's for mine at £100 a pop. the olds had only done 6000k but had gone balder faster in the middle. i was told later that anything over a 17" when driving hard actually flares in the middle, so my problem was my right foot was too heavy its was an exspensive learning curve
  5. To keep you all in the picture, i booked my car in to my mechanic to fix the timing belt but he could not get the belt from his supplier, so being a gold member i went to get my 5% off from lexus parts department. i told the person who served me the situation and asked to speak to a lexus mechanic for any suggestions of what might of caused it. the mechanic saw the photos of the belt and was so shocked it had gone that bad at such low miles, they picked the car up and are doing all the work for free :D :D :D it is a five year old car but he said that the belt is no where near the 100k change. Lexus customer service scores 10/10 with me :D
  6. Its easy to check. first you take off the air inlet which is 3 bolts, then you take the top cam cover off which is 4 bolts. it takes no longer than 15 mins I would check just for peace of mind. i am glad i did :D :D
  7. On the first pic the teeth on the round pully you can see should be totally covered by the belt and all the rest has been hacked away by something If the belt had snapped or i had not found it, it would of been game over for my engine.
  8. The car has only done 55k, but i want to know why the belt has moved forward.
  9. I put a message on the board earlier in the week about a slight rattle at low revs, i had a couple of replies and it was not what they had thought. This morning i thought i would take the timing belt cover off to see if it was the tensioner bearing or to try and get closer to the problem. What i found i think that you will all agree that i am the luckiest B*****d to find it
  10. I have checked the heat shields around the exhaust and there dosnt seem to be a problem, i have my money on it being the tensioner bearing, is this a comon problem on the IS200 at around 55k or am i looking for something else. Any suggestions welcome Thanks
  11. Is there anyway of getting hold of a diagram of the engine to see what is beneath all the covers???? I first thought it was either the timing belt tensioner or the water pump but without a diagram i am unsure.
  12. I have had a slight rattle at low revs for some time now so today i went down to my local mechanic and he said that it sounds like a slightly loose timing chain or a worn runner for the chain. does the IS200 have a timing chain or if not is there anyway of getting hold of a haynes like manual for the car to try and pin point what the problem is.
  13. I removed my back speakers because of the sub's in the boot, there was too much bass and the port's were directly above the rear speakers which caused interferance. ;)
  14. And these in the back thank's to steveaudiox :D :D :D :D
  15. I have just put my kenwood in last week and i think it is brill.
  16. Just to let you all know that the reason the middle was going so much faster than the outside was because of my right foot. The PSI i was tiold should be somewhere between 28 - 30 but the way i drive forces the middle of the tyre out Thanks for all the replies anyway
  17. I will check the side of the tyre today I have always known that if you are under inflated the outside's go faster and over inflated the middle I thought it was because the car was lowered because of the camber but that makes the insides go faster. I do have a lot of I.C.E in the boot which might be part of the problem i don't know
  18. Hi all, just wondering those of you who have 18's what psi you have in your tyres. The reason i ask, is that the middle of mine has gone a lot lot quicker than the outside's but i am only putting 26 psi in them. Its just the backs that have done this. The tyres have only done 6,000 miles and at £120 each its not very kind to my wallet Any remarks welcome Cheers
  19. They are easy to wire mate. the cables fit throug the bars on the headrests and using a rod i pulled the cables through to the bottom of the seat, then getting them to the front under the carpet :D
  20. Just got my headrest's back this morning from steve and i could not be happier :D :D I recomend him to anyone
  21. Hi mate your best bet is to go to a custom fit exhaust specialist. I have just had a double exhaust put on mine for £350 from the cat back and it has a life time guarantee with it. They can make it as big, small loud or quiet as you want.
  22. Yes i bought the car 6 months ago and spent just over £2,200 on the boot alone. When i bought the car the sat nav was not working because the cd in the boot was not installed so i am now trying to sell the screen if anyone is interested because i do not need it anymore.
