Yes mate I'm setting off from Pontefract were abouts you coming from?
I'm coming down from Teesside - looks like we're the only two coming down from the north. We could meet up at Ferrybridge Services if you want - around 7:15?

I'd agree that cabin noise is one of the few negative aspects of ownership. For a 'premium' car, there are far too many rattles and squeaks. I've used the foam between the dash and window and I've had the clips replaced but I do still get some noise. The annoying fact is that some days it's almost silent while on another day there's loads of noise. To me it seems to be very temperature dependent and my thinking is that it's possibly to do with different grades of plastic reacting at different rates to changes in temperature?
Having said that, in all other respects, I'm really happy with my car so it's really a minor grumble.

The IS250 doesn't really suffer from any major problems. There is an extensive post on the forum regarding things to look out for -
The short version is - not a lot. As far as ownership is concerned, have a read here
Generic service parts (brakes, filters, etc) are generally available through general motor factors at reasonable prices as is the water pump). However, shock absorbers are Lexus only and not cheap, but do seem to last pretty well. Also, exhaust parts are expensive from a main dealer and there is limited availability from 3rd party suppliers but the exhaust is not a common issue. The spark plugs can be expensive to replace (lots of disassembly to get to them - hence high labour charges) and are due at around 60K miles.
The Mark Levinson audio is excellent but the standard audio system is not too bad either. The SATNAV is just about adequate but I think from 2009 on, the system was updated via a flash drive and I think this is dealer only and not cheap. Rear leg room is also very limited

that's very bad luck, I hope you manage to get sorted without too much drama and expense

all sorted now, stripped out and reassembled and SatNav now displays the correct location, must have not plugged something in properly the first time.

Having become quite fed-up with lousy FM reception, I decided to remove the SATNAV console to check all was OK with the wiring, particularly the fm antennae.
Upon reassembly, the fm reception is still lousy and everthing seemed to be working OK but now I've noticed that my GPS location is wrong. It's about 10 miles away from where I actually am.
I'm assuming I've bollox'd the wiring when re installing the SATNAV console but to save guesswork, does anyone have a list of the rear connectors and their purpose - specifically which are the GPS connectors.
thanks .

Car does not have warranty since it has crossed 100k mileage, I bought from local car sales place in Chessington. Car drives and looks fabulous.
Unless you have bought the car with full knowledge of the fault, the supplying dealer is legally responsible for fixing any faults which may have been present or developing for six months from the date of sale.
If you haven't done so already, you should go back to the dealer and ask them to fix it.
Have a read here, https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
Hope you get sorted soon

Great updates as always Rob. Winced when reading about the grinder incident - talk about suffering for your art lol
Any plans for a national tour once she's finished so we can all see her

Hey Bob, we’ll more than likely be doing a route along snake pass on day 2. Where’s home for you?
Do you know any good routes from Hethersage or Glossop, I’m open to suggestions.
Home is Teesside, on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.
I'm not familiar with Glossop or the surrounding areas, so I can't offer any good suggestions. What do you think your plans for the Sunday are?

I was originally looking to join the second day for a drive through the dales. Derby is a little further than I would ideally like to travel but I'm not ruling it out completely just yet.

Hi John
Well done on sorting out those problems, think you did quite well with the price of the replacement amp.
The caliper pins are the achilles heal of the IS, but if they get an annual service they should be fine.
Is the pump under the rear seat? I'd assume so. Odd about the lack of a float - how does the sensor work then?
-
Are you still thinking about the dales for day two?
How about heading up to Settle from your overnight stop, then onto Hawes taking in the RibbleHead Viaduct, and Aysgarth Falls. Then through Leyburn and onto Richmond. From there it's a short drive to Scotch Corner and the A66/A1 junction to make your way home.

Not sure this is your exact model

The more the merrier! F cars are not compulsory 😛
Looking at the proposed itinerary, I'm more likely to come as a day tripper on the second day for the dales part.
Really hope this happens 😊

Is this just for 'F' owners? If not, I'd be interested in coming along.
-
Welcome John. Sorry to hear about your situation and best wishes for a swift recovery.
Good luck with the IS220, keep us posted with progress - don't forget the pictures though

If you can remove the speaker, these people may be able to offer a repair service
https://www.wilmslowaudio.co.uk/repair-and-upgrade-service-4-w.asp
I've personally never used them, but they've been around the hifi audio business for donkeys years so I don't doubt they know what they're doing
