  1. I've got bosch on mine, actually seem pretty good, no noise clear well so no complaints here, only miss a bit on the top left of screen if it doesn't get enough screen wash on it...they whereon the car when I got it so I imagine are approx 6 months old. Nick
  2. So I finally managed to go pick her up tonight, she's an absolute beauty in showroom condition inside, not a single mark on it all. I did 60 miles on the way home and averaged 37.6msg admittedly in the snow so never went above 65, it drives so nicely I almost can't believe it's 10 years old. The ML audio when fed with a dvd is amazing as well, all in I'm made up about it. Two questions, it has HIDS with afs and on the left hand side of the road as you drive along there is a very noticeable line of light pointing diagonally across to the edge of the road not into the other lane, the afs works OK as it does its up down side side when you start up, is that line normal or more likely needing new bulbs, they didn't seem massively amazing as I was expecting, I'm guessing it needs new bulbs, I've read you can check the condition of them by looking at them and seeing what the glass looks like? At slow speeds on full lock it has a knock from the front wheel, I read this is normal and most Lexus dealers seem to say "it's normal sir" Even the baby seemed to enjoy the ride as he was pretty quiet when we went out for a family test run. I feel a little bad for my old vectra, going to get all the hard work of my daily 110 mile m25 grind to work, she still has two months of mot left! Ohhhh and those scuff plates! Nick
  3. Well erm errrrrrr I bought it, I couldn't resist it, it's a really, really good one, perfect interior, perfect exterior, all the door hinges are greased, 4 matching almost brand new sportmaxxrt2's tool kit, full service history....it's one of those cars you can just tell has been looked after and one owner as well! I test drove and it certainly feels different to the old is200, much smoother changes in the gears, it felt slower than the old one but we were in London traffic, it's Cadoxton grey with cream coloured interior, will pick it up next Saturday, I checked everything off the list from the sticky, the guy just looked at me like WTF I couldn't find a single issue just some bubbling on one wheel but it's a to be expected, having had 4 different Toyota, Lexus you kind of expect it, and thanks for the tip on finding the model in the door jamb made that easy as pie. Nick
  4. It's an SEL with Ml, to be honest all the SEL models seem to command a pretty high price, it a trade sale with 6month warranty for what it's worth and years as cover, I was surprised by the prices actually generally all seem higher than expected, it's 1 owners full S/H too.
  5. Done mot check, just tyres twice which if my old IS is anything to go by us pretty standard, I'll see tommorow what it's like, and how much better it feels than my diesel beast!
  6. After agooo few years away I have finally come to a point in my life where I need another Lex, my daily commute is 120 miles round trip which has admirably been knocked out by my vectra, now just hitting 218k miles, it's been a trusty car, spent nothing on it in 5 years bar tyres, brakes and a set of swirl flaps! And to be honest it's very rarely let me down, mostly user error, running out of fuel etc. So anyway I'm going to check out a 56 Is250 SEL tommorow it'd got 80k on it and is up for £5995, I've had a look on autotrader and it looks kind of top whack price wise, it looks in good condition anyway my question really is this reasonable, I've not looked at a Lexus in so long I'm a bit out of the loop. I'm not doing the commute in the New car will keep the vectra until hopefully in the next few months I change jobs and will go to work on the train instead. I've read the what to look for guide, some great advice there, I can't wait to fond my a new one, I miss my trusty 200 even now! Nick
  7. Hello guys i need a little help if possible, can someone with a 2004 is200 please take a look at the disc they have and see what part numbers it has on it, i have a 2004 disc for sale that i am told is not suitable for lexus however the system would appear to be exactly the same in my avensis and my old lexus. I think they just give them diffrent part numbers too confuse us the aprt numbers i have are 86271 - 24123 and also 86271 - 70V313. Thanks very much Nick
  8. And so another one came this morning, Autotrader has really P****D me off now, Sold 4 cars on there before and never had this before, Its a complete waste of my time having it on ther when all i get is fake mails from it! Nick Hello Dear, i came across your car through autotrader of which i am interested in buying it from you as a birthday gift for my lovely wife.please do get back to me to know your last price offer on your car so that we can conclude payment details. i wait your urgent reply. Regards, Terry.
  9. Guys in need of some advice on a car buying scam i seem to have attracted...anyway the post is over in gold at the moment as i dint want to post in public unless the mods felt that was ok. Cheers nick
  10. ok so i got a price from the garage for my car as part ex earlier he sat at his computer asked me some details and bang gave me a price! never asked if it was taxed or mot'd. so i think im going to take it out. Never once have i bought a car with tax on it and now i know why......the greedy garage! So this morning i got me an Avensis its a 2003 D4D t spirit, its as close as i will get to another Lexus for a while but due to my drive moving from a 14 mile round trp to 68 mile round trip i just couldnt justify keeping the IS and putting such a huge amount of petrol in it. Its the one thing i didnt want to do with moving jobs is sell the car but i think ill be happy with the toyota the only real difference is its a little noiser inside and not as fastbut other than that it has the same if not higher spec than the IS. So when i get it next week ill report back on how it is compared to the IS. Nick
  11. Thats the thing surely the isc is mine i own it not the car so if i want too keep it i can! im interested to know what other people have done in this situation?
  12. Ok i need some help i have a small moral dilemma, Im soon going to part ex my IS200 for an avensis d4d and was thinking the avensis has only £135 to pay in car tax per year and the lex is £180 so could almost pay for itself. So do i take the disc which is mine and runs till Jan 08 or do i leave it in the car, ive never taken one out of a car before, what i do know is its quite easy to refund though. Thanks for your help Nick
  13. I had an rx hybrid as a courtesy car from woodford a few weeks ago and managed too put about 230 mileson it in a day and a night!! a nice car compared to my IS and really liked the sat nav on it took me from Stansted airport too tower bridge in London too pick up the G/F and got me stariaght there and back no problems also really like the bendy lights on it look really good when u start it up and they do there swivel test bit.... my only grip i nearly ran a lady over in my town as i crept along milk float style and she walked out in front of me Other than that a really nice car too drive and if ihad the 40k they wanted for it i would very happily have it......also managed to do 32.3 mpg in it and did have alittle drive down the M11 in it about midnight back from London!! All in a very nice car and very suitable fro London driving sitting above most other people!! Nick
  14. I have always found Lexus Ipswich too offer a really good service department, Gavin there seems to be able to make time to talk about your problems and is normally spot on with a diagnosis, I know its not local too many people its a 50 odd mile drive for me but he willl aalways get me a courtesy car and lets me bring my car in at 8am and return last thing in the evening so ican get back home for the day. He is really helpful and well worth a visit if all else fails! Nick
  15. This is exactly what mine does sounds like something is really about to fall off the car, When i took it to Ipswich Gavin there pretty much diagnosed it before we got in the car, Something to do with the parts that hold the front pads in place he said i think the spring lose there "springyness" after a while and hence the pads can become loose, So next week its going into get a new brake fitting kit put on it. Im hoping this will solve the embarrasing noises my car makes, But he seemed quite confident and knowledgeable on it so i will trust him. The cost was about £130 all in for parts and labour, I dont mind spending the money if it does the job!! Nick One other thing he said when he first started with Lexus he thought as well like me and maybe you that it was the suspension but he soon learned actually its the brakes and they have done a few of them now. However I know next too nothing about cars so just passing on the few bits i remember him telling me.
