  1. Hi - Yesterday a problem developed in my 2012 CT200H, 63K miles. Despite the hatchback door being firmly closed the car seems to thinks it's open and of course the warning beeper is sounding. Worse than that is that the car will not lock using the keypad. I have to take the key out of the keypad and lock it manually. Can anybody help please? Thanks in advance Rob
  2. Hi... Not being happy with the thought of just having the can of sticky stuff in the event of a puncture I have bought a 'get you home' space saver wheel in the correct 17 inch size to match the road wheels. However the damn thing won't fit in the well in the boot. Having read other threads I was prepared for it to stand proud of the well and the insert tray not fitting but the wheel won't even go into the aperture - in fact nowhere near it... Now placing the space saver wheel alongside the road wheel on the car it looks the same diameter, which is puzzling. Am I missing something here??
  3. Real world mileage was about 2 MPG worse than the display, but TBH I'm not really sure how the display MPG is calculated. Is it since the engine was last started, perhaps? Or is it a cumulative figure? Is it possible to reset the MPG to zero to get a 'fresh' figure? There's a small knob on the speedo that seems to do something to the display when pushed but exactly what, I don't know. Perhaps someone else can advise?? Rob
  4. Hi... As an update to my post of 23rd March I have experimented by ditching ECO mode and running in normal mode. In truth I don't have too much faith in the accuracy of the MPG display so I've done a few weeks on a 'brim to brim' basis. Since April 1st I have done 1293 miles and been to the petrol station 4 times and used the car for what I think of as 'real world' motoring - a combination of shopping trips, Dad's Taxi runs, commuting and one trip to the Peak District for a long weekend over the bank holiday. I have used in total 122.72 litres of petrol, which equals 26.9984 gallons, so my true fuel consumption works out at 47.89 MPG. And I'm happy with that. The performance of the car is a little better in Normal mode, which means that you don't have to accelerate so hard to get up to speed. Fuel consumption at this level is 1 or 2 MPG less than my last car (Diesel Qashqai) but it's a much nicer place to be in so I can live with that. I don't drive like I'm driving Miss Daisy, nor am I a lead-footed hooligan so it's going to be difficult to get a better return that the CT200h gives - almost 48MPG from an automatic 1800cc petrol car is quite impressive..
  5. No, I think that was the Harley-Davidson Panzerwagon. The bidet was a optional extra.
  6. OK... I have done a brim to brim check over the last week. My motoring is approx. 5% motorway, 5-10% town driving and the balance A roads. I used about three quarters of a tank and did exactly 249 miles. I mostly leave the car in ECO mode, and only use normal mode when I'm approaching a hill and need a little extra acceleration. I only use the sports mode when I am joining the M4 and need to get up to motorway speed in a few seconds, then go back to ECO mode. I used 24.50 litres which equates to 5.39 gallons so the brim to brim 'real life' figure works out at 46.20 MPG. The car computer, on the other hand shows average consumption to be 48.9 MPG so there's a difference there. Perhaps I'm not properly understanding how the computer arrives at that figure.... Now for an 1800cc automatic petrol car 46.20 is good, but that economy is easily bettered by diesels - a family member runs a Mercedes C220 auto diesel which gives a true figure of 53.2 MPG and much better all round performance than my CT200h. I'm a bit disappointed in truth so I will give PaulWhitt20 and Ian J Parsley's advice a go and try a couple of weeks running mostly on Normal mode and see where I go from there. Rob
  7. Hi Alex - as long as it's not too onerous I'll join in. PM me the details. Rob
  8. Thanks for that, Tim. Not sure I'm brave enough to try it, but a great mod nonetheless. Rob
  9. Just a thought... I'll need fuel in the next couple of days so I'll brim the tank, note the mileage and do so again next time and then work out a true MPG figure. I'll report back in a couple of weeks with the true figure against the car's computer figure. Rob
  10. Has anybody done a check of the accuracy of the car's MPG readout? Rob
  11. Hi Tim. Interesting solution. If you've got the kit, any chance of a couple of photos of the job? It's just the sort of thing that Lexus should have thought of.
  12. Hi... I suspect this issue has been raised before - so apologies to anyone whose feathers get ruffled. I have gone through the threads but there are so many variations of model and year that I can't seem to find an answer relevant to my particular model. Specifically: My car has a scissor jack and wheel brace which appears to be original equipment, along with the repair pump, but no spare wheel. There appears to be the perfect compartment to store a spare wheel but the dealer says this model didn't ever have a spare from new - I suspect it's a cost cutting exercise, in which case shame on you, Lexus. Now I'm not comfortable with the idea of just having a can of gunk in the boot and would like to get a spare wheel of some sort even if it's a 'get you home' jobby. I'm quite prepared to buy one of those if I need to but I was wondering if a full size 17 inch Lexus wheel and tyre from a breakers yard would fit into the boot compartment (trying not to have to take the wheel off to check).... or maybe even a Prius wheel, which would probably be easier to source. What do you guys do? Hoping someone has already done the research on this and can advise for my particular model. Rob
  13. Hi... Only had my car a month but the computer read out shows 49 mpg overall. I'm doing about 900 miles a month with a round-trip 38 mile daily commute - almost all on A roads. If true, then I'm happy with that as my last car (a diesel Qashqai) averaged 48 5 MPG over the year. So my question is, how accurate is the inbuilt computer for this? Rob
  14. Ah... Verbout... I seem to have inadvertently tossed the terrier a bone - you won't let this go, will you? Yes, you really should take notice of your signature. People of your obvious superiority should never bother with the hoi polloi... we're all idiots, after all. My next FSQ will be along shortly - there is one thing I would like advice on, and I may tease you by once again using whimsy on the subject of age. Sharpen your virtual pencil in readiness, mon brave! Rob
  15. Many thanks to all for your patience. My son looked through this thread, went out to the car and two minutes later job done. I can't believe now that I just couldn't see that, but hey ho, this is the penalty for getting old, I suppose. Again, many thank to all who helped. Rob
