  1. You could try claying it perhaps. You seem to have done everything else.
  2. I am only going on the coincidental appearance of food wrappers at 3 points outside my house one morning. One set by the front door. one by the drivers door of the car and the other behind the car on the footpath, which all strangely coincides with the layout the scum usually seem to adopt in the CCTV videos I have seen. They were obviously hungry after a busy session thieving. Oh, and another car in the street stolen the next night.
  3. I've disabled the keyless entry on my RX450H. Mainly because I think there was an attempted theft by some scum with a scanner. Saves worrying about remembering to put the keys in a pouch every time. It is marginally more inconvenient in daily use but not as much as having it stolen.
  4. Lights now functioning normally after I prodded randomly at the brake light switch, working it on and off for a while. I guess it is on the way out so will get it changed when it is serviced in 2 weeks. I can’t really face changing it myself in this weather Rich
  5. IMany thanks for your advice. I’ve discovered you don’t seem to be able to disable the key fobs themselves but you can disable smart entry and smart start on the vehicle by using the steering wheel controls to access the customisation menu. Slightly less convenient because you need to use the fob buttons to unlock the car and hold the fob up against the start button to start, but I think I’ll leave it disabled whilst there seems to be a gang of scumbags in the area and I decide what to do about a steering wheel lock. Really helpful link thanks.
  6. I have a similar experience with my 450H. Having come from a remapped Volvo T5 with front wheel drive only I can’t say it’s that big a problem in relative terms.
  7. Thanks for the suggestion. I went back out in the cold and ‘poked around’ with it a bit. No brake lights on now so at least I won’t have a flat battery to deal with. Will see what tomorrow brings, assuming it’s still there. Removing the starter system fuses might slow up keyless thieves though.
  8. My 2010 RX450H has the brake lights on permanently (even with engine off) plus amber brake system warning light on the dash. Anyone have an idea what this might be please? I did try to find a fuse to remove to get the lights to go out but had no luck tracking one down. Any advice gratefully received. Almost certainly unrelated but I think the car was the subject of a failed keyless theft last night. Someone left food wrappers at the front door, car drivers door and on the pavement behind the car. Fortunately our keys are well away from the front door.
  9. Thanks for the replies chaps. Chris, thanks for the pointer. I'll check the website for driving technique. On the headlights, I've spent more than 10 years not having to remember to turn the headlights on so have no intention of relearning. I was hoping just to leave the switch in the 'on' position, assuming they would turn off when the car is off. Unfortunately the sidelights stay on so that idea is no good. Will just have to settle for Auto.
  10. Hi all, Just acquired my first Lexus in the form of a used RX450H SEI Grey in the sense of the car, and increasingly my hair. Swapped after more than 10 years of Volvo ownership, although I still have one Volvo left. Amongst other things, I ended up with the car because I didn't want a Diesel (Fuel of Satan, not ideal for short journeys, don't want to add to the horrendous pollution problem of diesel) which pretty much rules out a used Volvo, Merc, BMW etc. I'm really happy with the car overall so far. Only niggles are I can't make any sense of the Satnav and get very inaccurate journey times when I do use it so I probably won't, plus I miss daytime running lights. I'm a bit disappointed to discover I can't just leave the headlights switched on permanently so have had to make do with them on Auto. I probably expected better economy too but will live with the 30mpg I'm getting.
