  1. If this helps, I've had a new EVO(8) the interiors are B-a-s-i-c, they're a harsh ride, you'll need to service it every 4500miles and it'll do 8 miles yes thats 8! to the gallon if you drive it hard. I've driven subaru's both road and rally spec and they're b-a-s-i-c inside again and don't particularly drive that well compared to the Evo, both are fragile beasts and will harm your wallet, the Evo drives impossibly well and will keep you smiling until you get bored of stopping at every petrol station/garage. I've owned my IS200t for around 3 months now and it's simply the best car I've ever owned by a huge margin. It's quick, it handles impeccably, it does 29 miles to the gallon with a mixture of driving like a pillock and pottering around town, it's comfy, ab-solutely nothing annoys me about it, its better looking than most other cars on the road, no-one wants to call you a ***** when you overtake them (because it's a lexus and doesn't look like a drug dealers chariot). There's no other car for sale I'd swap it with. Thats my view on the thread for what it's worth.
  2. Got my 200t from Coventry. Would be nice to be buying Jaguar being so close to us, just a shame they've lost the plot.
  3. Having looked at my budget for a quality car, the Audi's, Bm's and Jags had nondescript interiors and a sales rep image that does nothing to make you feel good about yourself. The IS sport is a thing of beauty both inside and out, the 200T has performance too. There was nothing else I could see myself buying because I couldn't get excited about them. Was this just my taste? who cares, its me that's driving it. But in the first week of ownership I went into my local shop, a chap came in and said to his mates "you have to come out and see this Lexus, its outside now" all excited. How much would you have to spend on a BMW to get that reaction? Thats what sells cars my friends, pure class . . . . .
  4. Probably, be ok I guess. Not very relaxing keeping your foot planted on the brake though
  5. Just dawned on me today, as these cars are quite spirited and I'm certainly enjoying that fact at the moment, an issue has dawned on me. The stop start activates by depressing heavily on the brake pedal, the engine restarts when pedal released so you have to keep the brakes firmly on otherwise whats the point. If you've been hammering the car surely the disks are going to warp being as you're holding the brake pads on the disk? Or is there a way of changing the mode of operation that I'm missing?
  6. Thanks Ray, found it. There's not a second page, its just further along the menu god knows how I missed it, i was going into address and using postcode from there which restricts the characters, further along the destination menu there's a postcode tab as you quite rightly said, this allows full entry. My problem was the car was supplied with a note from the factory to say they havent got any satnav manuals in stock!
  7. Triumph dolomite. Death trap Ford Xr4i. Wonderfull About 20 company cars then Mitsubishi evo8. Handling to die for, cost a million pounds to run Citroen picasso. great inbetween car that ended up keeping for ages Ldv pilot. workhorse, uber reliable Jaguar xj8. plush and riduculous Kia sportage. Complete rubbish Isuzu trooper. Unreliable, thirsty, Landrover discovery. Unreliable thirsty, uncomfortable Nissan elgrand. One of the best cars Ive owned Honda crv. Noisy engine, annoying, uncomfy Toyota rav4. Great car Lexus is200. The best car Ive owned
  8. im not at car now but from memory. Pressed map, destination, address, went right on the menu wheel to the options (the three dots) select postcode. Then the wheel comes on screen for entering characters, select the characters (it was a seven digit but tried a six after as well with the space) it changes screen after 4 characters and allows you to scroll through the numbers for the 5th character, then it changes screen to enter street and house number?
  9. Nah, regardless of space or no space it changes screen after inputting 5 digits to enter the street info. If you go back you have to start again
  10. I got the standard, no premium option on the sport.
  11. I cant see any option for full postcode? Have you the premium or standard nav?
  12. Thanks Steve, saved me running through all of the settings, will get used to it I suppose.
  13. Picked her up yesterday. Well pleased with it, looks the business. Cant believe how well she handles and goes like a scalded cat. Getting around 24 to the gallon so far but to be fair have been thraping it quite a bit, seats are uber comfy for me. Only things I need to play with a bit more are, the satnav, when entering postcode it only takes first 5 digits then have to enter the street? cant find anything in settings to allow me to enter full postcode. Also the radio, there's not a lot of staions available? done the re-search stations a couple of times but still no joy. Other than that a stunning car
  14. Picking my new IS200T sport up tomorrow with the standard infotainment system. Can I use a portable HDD with the standard system?
  15. If either party has spoken to their insurance it'll probably be logged as an accident already. Regardless of whether you claim or not it may possibly affect insurance. I've experienced this a couple of times over the years. Last one was a pressure washer stolen from the back of a 4x4, it was knackered anyway so wasn't too fussed. I rang to see if I was covered for contents, they said no so it was left at that, next renewal it came up as a higher risk due to the incident on file. Anything that happens means you are a higher risk regardless of any claim. When you think about it, the old fart could potentially run into you again )-; About as likely as winning the lottery but yet another lame excuse to put your policy up.
  16. Well collection date pencilled in for thursday all being well. Have been looking for roof bars with a view to putting cycle racks on. Has anyone any idea who makes the Lexus supplied one as its probably cheaper to buy directly rather than through the Lexus dealer? Was toying with the idea of a towbar mounted one but don't really want the extra length on the car as it'll make parking more awkward.
  17. Yes, best offer I got was £4300 discount so for the sake of 2 minutes of your time carwow is a good tool, hybrid usually don't make any sense whatsoever financially except for company car drivers in terms of the bik, however the IS hybrid is only a grand dearer than the 200t so cost of ownership probably plays out well.
  18. Hi Steve, its a bit more complicated as I had a trade in and did a PCP but equivalent to about £4000 discounts including £2500 dealer and lexus contribution. I used "carwow" as bargaining tool. If you google it put a query in loads of local dealers will come back via email with best offers. Hope this helps
  19. I went for the sport, liked the black wheels and trim, bonus that its a bit cheaper. Went for Sonic white, your blue one looks nice for sure but wasnt keen on a colour. I'm with you on the deals bit, it took a day of haggling but got the £2500 contribution and a further big discount, plus £1800 over book for my part exchange. Pretty painless dealing with our Lexus showroom and the lad that was dealing with me clearly liked the car which helps. Our Jag dealer came out with the classic "no idea" when asked about the XE gearbox, nothing more annoying, it's not like there's a lot to learn about with half a dozen models in the showroom. I'll be honest, didn't even bother driving the XE, didn't like the design and build quality.
  20. Hi James, looks like thats 2 they've sold then (-: Good to here from another owner. Yes, can't wait to get it, test car went like billyo. Last car I had that went that fast was an Evo 8 and that did 12 to the gallon around town. 12 days to go, have you got the sport, f sport?
  21. Hi Paul, I need to be able to tow up to 1500kg is the bottom line, the only IS to do this is the 200t. I considered the NX but fell in love with the IS. The wow factor for me on the test drive was the performance which is stunning in a refined way if that makes any sense, super quite running although there is a little tyre noise due to low profiles, I did like the 8 speed gearbox unlike some reviewers online. The only downside is realistically it'll be 30mpg which isn't the end of the world. I like a lot of other things about the car but they are the same in the 300h so irrelevant to the question.
  22. Thanks for the welcome Edward. Yes the pics just remind me how nice the IS is, the Jag is just horrible to me, it looks like a cheap badly styled repmobile?
  23. Yes, it's always been the case that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, some people will love it but the Jags not for me. Every car I've had has seemed to be a compromise but there's not really a thing about the IS200t that I dislike. I'm sure living with it will unearth gripes of some sort, but for now I'm smitten. To be fair I've always wanted to buy a Lexus, for no other reason that the staff are so well trained to make you feel welcome. With the new IS I've had every reason to do so as it ticks every box. It also helps with the deals that are being offered.
