  1. Hi,

The only other way of topping up the header tank would be to.....When the engines cold and not been started take the pipe off that comes out the bottom of the header tank and goes into the top of the radiator.Take the pipe end off that goes into the neck of the rad top and then in the pipe going back up to the header tank, stick a funnel in the pipe and hold it higher than the header tank and top it up that way.

Its more than likey be quicker to break the old cap off and screw a new one on and top up.

As for the oil cleaner stuff i stay well away of that as it can cause problems on older engines.

  2. Hi,

Any Good car parts shop should be able to get hold of a copy set of HT leads and in the info books able to tell you which plugs you will need.

Its always good to ask a couple of shops and if you get the same answers then you know they know what there talking about :winky:

  3. Hi,

At least there is still coolant in the header tank,so ive got a little time for now.

But the header coolant tank cap will have to be removed at some point and replaced, best to buy another first then some how get the old cap off even if you have to break the cap to get it off.Just be careful not to damage the header tank.

The other thing to check from what you say is to take the oil cap off the engine, its on the top of the engine where you put oil in.If you look under the cap and find the same colour sludge then the reason your using coolant is because the engines headgasket is leaking and will need to be replaced.Because coolant is getting into the oil and over time will damage the engine :excl:

    Hope thats of help.

    Good Luck..

  4. I always try when I can to offer help to club members [along with many others]........can I ask

anyone who benefits, to post the end result if any, along with any other details they find?

If more did this we would all gain more info and hopefully save money!

Not a rant, I just wonder if we can get more 'follow ups' :winky:

    Hi,

    Good Topic!!

Ive asked on my replies before, let us know how you get on...only to find they dont :D

  5. Hi,

The throttle body and butterfly valve would be the easiest parts to check and clean first as that might give the hesitation problems.

It would be well worth fitting new spark plugs and HT leads and rotor arms and distributor caps.

It would also be worth fitting a new oil fitter if its dirty.

You will find the engine will run alot cleaner/better after all that.

    Good Luck..

  6. Thanks Chips,

Its weird because before i put the spring on it drove great :driving: do you think i'd have to change all four shocks as i bet thats going to cost a bit??

Maybe it would be better getting a set of coilovers as i bet the cost wont be a lot more?

    Chris.... :)

    Hi,

You did replace each side of the car with a new spring so you put a set of new springs on the front.... or did you fit new springs on the front and rear?

If youve just replaced the springs then you could replace the shocks, but you will have to make sure they match the spring rate of the spring.

    Chips.

  7. Hi,

Like you say you might need to replace the shocks.

If the new springs are of a stiffer type to the standard springs and your still running standard shocks then that might be the problem or the standard shocks are well past there best.

On uneven roads the car will fill unsettled at speed because of the lowering and the reduced amount of suspension travel.

    Chips.
