  1. Hi,

As ROYT says its not really normal for the autobox to loose oil,id have a look under the rear of the chassis of your car to see if theres any sign of a fluid leak. You might find there gearbox doesnt drop any oil on the road when parked, but when on the move theres a small fluid leak from the autobox under pressure when its working.Have a look at the exhaust pipe for signs of any fluid leak staining the exhaust.

Is there other problems with the autobox then as you say its due to be replaced.

  2. Hi wacko

I found my mk1 LS was floaty on the motorway and found it worse when there was some weight in the boot.

My car hadnt long gone through a MOT so there couldnt have really been anything wrong with it.

If the MOT on your cars not far away id hang on and ask the MOT guy to have a good look at the springs/shocks.

Tein do uprated shocks/shocks and have a comfort spec one.You might find there cheaper than the main dealer springs/shocks.

They should be able to answer all your questions about how the car rides on there springs.

    Hope thats of some help.

  3. Hi and Welcome to LOC :)

Its just my option but ive found extra warranty a waste of money. If you read the small print the new parts are only covered if there broken if parts are shown to be worn out you cover the cost of the new parts.

You will find that any parts are more,if not always found to be worn out ;)

Im sure others will be along with more options and advice.

Good Luck with buying the car.

    Cheers..

  4. Hi,

If the brakes are sticking then if you touch the centre of the alloy wheel it will be hotter than the other wheels. Its also worth checking if theres any small stones stuck between the disc and the dirt guard that could be making a noise.

It would also be worth having someone sat in the rear seats as you drive along so they can listen for noises at the rear of the car to see what side the noises are coming from.If the noise is there when cornering then it could be a wheel bearing. Is it just noise or is there any vibration as well?
