  1. Did you feel anything after changing the oil? Did the old oil look black and dirty? I asked my stealer of changing the gearbox oil for my gs450h and they said it is life time and it does not need changing... allso from what i'v read it is imposibile to change all the oil in the gearbox because it is sealed...
  2. Well... when i register i could not put my country. I am from Romania, Bucharest(that is why sometimes my english is crap, btw nice to mee yout guys, you helped me allot :) ) and here the fuel sometimes is crap all do i fill her up with the best possible fuel that exists here. The car is been very well serviced, oil and filter changed every 3000 miles, new spark plugs, everything and every sensor that can be cleaned, was cleaned (throttle body, MAF(new), vvti filters, etc) did an engine oil flush. However... crank breathers... i don't know anything about this, can you help me with more detalis, where they are, how can i clean them, etc? Thank you.
  3. In my country there are a lot of Lexus with lpg specially the RX model. I personally saw a GS450h with lpg with 150.000 miles. Car runs great and the engine runs a bit smoother then gasoline.
  4. Thank you John for replying. the strange thing is that i have no errors on the engine. No misfires. I am guessing it is bad gasoline. In my country we do not really have very good gasoline
  5. First of all thank you all for your answers. Today I put the car on the ramp and I discover something which is very weird the driveshaft is moving very little left right when the car is in neutral. It's kind of shakes and I don't think this is normal. The knocking sounds from underneath the car are coming from the driveshaft because it's shaking when the car is Neutral but not when in park. I suspect the rough idle is coming from the driveshaft too it's weird because it is like the gearbox wants to move the wheels a little. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? To be Honest I'm little worried at this point. Thank you all for all your help
  6. OK, after some time the problem with the overheating did not come back, i suspected bad fuel was the problem and the enginer was runing poor but now there is a new problem. The p0430 keeps coming, not permanent to light the check engine up but in pending. Funny thing is that i started to see that my idle is pretty rough. When i put the car in N the car shakes and underneath i can hear some strange knocks... What the hell is going on with my car, should i prepare for the worst? A lambda sensor or my cats ar starting to fail :)) Also is it normal, first morning start (after the car was sitting by night for about 20 hours) the engine starts, runs for about 1 minute then shuts off and it goes into EV mode? This thing started happening when the summer and hot days came (95F/35C). 110.000 miles on the clock Thank you all for the help.
  7. Because it was never changed and from what i know it is possible that in time the antifreze gets thicker and does not cool down as it should.
  8. First of all, thank you all for all your answers. After the heating problem i added some distilled water to dilute the antifreze. Coming back home i pushed the car pretty hard to see if it happens again. This time the temperature gauge did not move an inch but the temperature outside was 70f (21c). Strange thing was... after the heating problem i did have a p0430 code but it was in pending. After i started the car to come back home after about 10 minutes the CEL light up and the code p0430 was permanent. This was the first time i got this code, could it be somehow this was related to the heating issue?
  9. Nope. I bought the car from a friend and i know all the history. The car has never been damaged. Next week i will change the thermostat. Thank you very much John.
  10. Hello guys, i need some help with my car... again :)) So the story goes something like this. Today i was on the highway cruising at about 80 mph. In my country today was extremly hot. On the highway the outside temperature was about 40C (104F). As i was driving, behind me a Volvo was tailgating me so i wanted to have some fun and i floored it from 80 to 120 mph for a couple of times(it was some traffic in front of me). At about the fourth time when i was flooring it from 80 i noticed a hesitation of the engine and the power was going down and car did not accelerate, i saw that i drained the battery completely and i thought that's why i do not have power, but when i looked at the engine temperature gauge it was almost near the H sign. Instantly i let the accelerator off, the speed dropped to 80 again and in a couple of seconds the needle dropped at the middle between C and H where it sits normally. Then i drove it a couple of miles at 80, floored it again to 120 to see if the temperature rises again and the needle moved very very little up to the H (one square). After many miles, i was curious to see again if the engine temp rises if i floor it so this time i flored it from 40 mph to 120mph, everything was perfect the temperature did not rise at all. So my question is... what is rong with my engine? No check engine or anything on the dash, it is the first time i encounter such a problem with the car. The coolant is at top level and it is perfectly clean. Oil same... (i thought of the worst, head gasket ex.) Is this relatively normal because of the extreme heat outside? It was my fault for pushing the car hard or my engine has problems? I don't really know what to say, i thought this cars can live with such extreme temperatures, i don't think it is normal. I am a little worried. Please help and thank you for your answers.
  11. Thank you very much for all your answers. Basically the best way to drive a hybrid is by pulsing and glide :)
  12. Basically if i drive above 60 km/h which is arpox 45 mph the vehicle drives on engine power but bellow 60 it can switch completely to electric power. Hangie: Thanks for the tips, the car is very well maintained. I was just curious if you know any other tips to conserve the battery the best possible.
  13. Hello, I was wondering because I couldn t find anything about how to get the longest life possible out of our hybrid batteries. How is it recomended when driving in the city? To charge and discharge them? To keep the car as long as possible on engine power? To avoid using the full power? Etc Personally my car is used usually at night when there is no heavy traffic, i do one cycle of discharge and charge completely. It is very nice to drive for about 2 miles on full electric power :D. When i park the car i allways leave the battery with more then 50%. Thank you
  14. The throttle body is perfectly cleaned. Yesterday i took it out and cleaned it again and it is brand new. The maf sensor is one week old and again i changed with a brand new one. The problem still exist. I will take the car to the dealer and see what is their opinion. I don't know what to do anymore and the problem is very iritating. :(
  15. Ok guys, i am re writing here regarding the problem with the cold start problem. The p0016 code never came back, i cleaned the filter just like John said and everything is ok. The other problem is related to the cold start. I think it is better to write here then start a new thread. It is not something of a big deal but it bugs the hell out of me. The cold start problem is not fixed. The thing is this. If I don't start the car for a couple of days the engine misfires at cold start. But the misfire is weird in a way that I will try to explain the best i can: Start the engine, everything is fine, it idles ok, then after a couple of 10-15 seconds the engine starts to shake, if I let it to shake it will eventually throw the p0300 code or (p0300, p0301, p0302, p0303, p0304, p0305, p0306) if i gently push the acceleration the shaking goes away and it idles perfect. This only happens when the vehicle is left for 2 days minimum and it misfires for a couple of seconds then everything is ok. The thing isn't a big deal because when i start the car if I see that it shakes I gently push the acceleration pedal or put it in drive and go and everything is perfect but still... what could be the problem? Spark plugs are changed, MAF sensor changed, throttle body cleaned, oil, filters, vvti filters everything is new. I have no idea what the problem is. The coils i assume can't be bad since i got misfire on all cylinders. I thought the problem was the dipstick not plugged in correctly but it was only a coincidence... however today i saw something a little weird. At the bottom of the dipstick where it plugs into the engine there is some oil leaking very slightly. Is it possible that a vacuum leak appears there? I don't know what to do anymore and i do not want to throw money anymore on changing parts that are working Thank you.
  16. Ok so I think i can say everything is very ok. I cleaned the filters that John told me and changed the spark plugs. The check engine light did not come on since the first post of this topic. The filters where not dirty as far as I could saw but i cleaned them anyway. The strange thing is that when i took out the right screw with the filter for bank 2 of the engine, there was no oil coming out but on the left screw on bank 1 when i got the screw out some nasty dirty oil came out, probarly that was the cause for the CEL that i was mentioning in the first post. About the misfires, the strange thing is that the problem i think was related to the oil dipstick not plugged in correctly. Probably it was a vacuum leak because when i plugged the dipstick correctly, the engine cold started fine and this was before i changed the spark plugs. Anyway guys thank you allot for your help especially Britprius (John) for all the good advice about my problems. I will keep this topic updated in case others need help.
  17. Ok so after a week and so everything was perfect, no errors car runned great until... I left the car for 3 days in the garage. In my country it is pretty could this time of year. I started the car it ran great for a couple of seconds and then the idle began to be very rough. Check engine light came on and it started flashing. I restarted the car and everything was perfect. I pluged in my obd reader and it only gave me: "p0300 random multiple cylinder misfire detected". Does anybody have any ideas? When i restarted the car everything was perfect. Thank you very much.
  18. Just a little update. Today a plugged in again my obd reader. The CEL did not went on but i was curious to see the rpm at idle on the engine. It idles at 990-998 rpm but this sound ok to me. The strange thing is that i checked for errors and i had a p0017 but it was in pending. Something i shoud worry about? I did not clean those filter that John told me about. I am hoping to do that next week.
  19. Thank you very much for the answers. As soon as i will find out what it was i will post here.
  20. Thank you very much for your answer John. I think you are definitely right, especially because the car was bought second hand and the last owner changed the oil but the oil filter wasn't changed for about 30.000 miles because the shop where he would do the service oil did not have the tool to remove the oil filter housing (he did not know that those mechanics did not change the oil filter) and when i did the oil change i saw that the oil filter housing was very dirty and the oil filter pretty much toast. I cleaned up the oil filter housing, changed the filter, but i suspect that the enigne is still a little dirty inside. I will keep this oil for 2000 more miles and then i will changed again to do a flush (the oil was changed last week). Today i had about 250 miles with citys and highways and mountain roads. Traffic was moderate and the car run flawlessly. The CEL lights up only when the engine stop and starts allot of times on idle to power up the battery's. Strange thing is that i saw this only occurs only when the batteries are completely empty.
  21. Hello guys. I need some help regarding a 2007 Lexus GS450h with 100k miles. The problem is very strange in my opinion. Sometimes when the car idles specially in heavy traffic and the engine stops and starts allot of times to recharge the batteries the check engine light comes on. Even with the CEL on everything is running perfect, no limp mode, or anything regarding a power surge. I plugged in my obd2 reader and it gives me the p0016 fault. Camshaft corelation or something like this. I observed that this fault only occurs when the car is iddling allot in very heavy traffic (ex. one miles in one hour) in my country traffic jams are a very common thing :) If i delete it i can travel for weeks and it doesen't come on. Is it something i shoud worry about? I heavn't reached a Lexus dealer yet. The car had all the recalls done(valve springs and stuff). Thank you and excuse my bad english.
