I would be in a lot of trouble as my other half hates yellow cars. If it wasn't a 6hr+ drive away, I would probably go and have a look just to see what I thought of the colour.

Is that particular yellow available on other Lexus, as that's probably an easier way to have a quick look at the colour, even if it won't quite be the same as seeing it on the LC

I had a look at the yellow one at Newcastle and I actually really liked the colour.  Even on a dull day it looked brilliant, I’d certainly own it!  As with any purchase like this, need to make your own opinion on it however!

Not sure I’m the best judge mind you as my car is orange!

wow, that's a serious chunk of cash for a 4 1/2 year old car.  In today's market I expect that will stick around for a while at that price......  or it will be discounted fairly quickly to move it on.

I’m inclined to agree considering the age and mileage!  Feels a good way out….

I wonder if there is a preconception in some sellers eyes that a V8 is a rare positive selling point as they slowly die out.  I’m not sure we’re quite there yet, fuel prices still put people off and they aren’t quite rare enough (V8s generally) for enthusiasts to chase after them…..

Give it another few years and values will start to creep up!

I suspect there is a source of very wealthy buyers to be uncovered for the orange coloured RCF.  Looking to sell make sure you advertise it in Valencia it will have huge appeel.

I must remember that if I ever decide to sell.  Could also consider Scotland, the home of Irn Bru or perhaps orange Tango also!

I got my GT4 ST205 from Newera back in the day. I still have it and it's close to 550 bhp

Miguel is the director of Newera and really friendly and helpful in every way. He helped me in sourcing the car, getting it inspected and ready for its journey here.

I had both an ST205 and ST185. Really enjoyed them both though the 185 never really got ran.  That’s good power in the 3S-GTE.  Assume you have had block work done, turbo, installed an intercooler?

Still have the ST205 spoiler as a souvenir!

Motto ……. buy the best value car you can and get the max JOY from it 👍

I think this is really important.  I understand why others don’t like putting miles on cars but it’s not something I prescribe to.  I may get a 3rd car but for now the RCF is my daily.

I love every minute in the Lexus and always look forward to driving it.  I’m considering an S-Class as a 3rd car but the thing putting me off is whether I have the discipline to not drive the RCF everyday….

    How do others do it????

Tyres are everything, even fancy AWD and summer tyres will get you into trouble. Winter tyres and RWD is totally doable, I drove many snowy miles in my RWD Mercedes without trouble, well if one can get past all the stuck and abandoned cars!

Wife’s car has the Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season tyres on and they are impressive considering they are not ‘winter tyres’. Would thoroughly recommend them….

Managed on untouched 8” deep hills yesterday which is as bad as it’s ever likely to get up here.

Just glad it didn’t break down!!!😁

With a lack of low end torque, an F car is much better than the likes of an M4 / 63.

    Hope you got home safely!

Safely but sideways!! It wasn’t actually as bad as you would expect….glad I got the new tyres though….

Drove into work in the Range Rover, really confidence inspiring.  Only had the RCF out because it was booked in for its MOT and it runs out on Monday.

    Bilt Hamber or Autoglym?
I quite like the Autoglym range, but I'm very far from an expert. I have also used some Gtechniq products that tured out to be great.

Autoglym make a few good products but if you’re serious about it I’d suggest Bilt Hamber as a more ‘professional grade’ range.

Marcus, how did you find your Subaru Impreza WRX ?  We had one that had been super-chipped they told me and was just AMAZING …… comparatively speaking …. I never drove an “ ordinary “ one so wouldn’t know 😂

    Malc

It was good though the gearbox was the star of the show….as an RA it’s really short ratios and it makes such a difference to the driving experience.  At the time I liked it, not sure I would have one now though to daily drive.  My palette is a little more refined as I’ve aged….I’m growing soft!

    Hello everyone,

Bought a 2019 RC300H back in May and have had experience of Toyota hybrids before (also have a 2018 Yaris for past 3 years which my partner drives daily).

Whilst the Yaris typically loses 10-15% MPG during the colder days I've noticed the RC has dropped around 20-25% on the same types of temperature days.

I guess its because the hybrid battery is less efficient due to the cold, the increased resistance on the tyres, size / weight of vehicle and large interior to heat up.  It possibly also doesn't help because of the E10 fuel.

Out of interest has anyone tried Super unleaded during winter months and if so has the reduced Ethanol content increased MPG enough to more than offset the increased cost?

    Thanks, Charlie

Not a hybrid but I get around 5-10% better mpg in my RCF using Tesco momentum in my car.  Pays for itself…..

Also worth considering that it tends to drop for everyone, see below link

  13. Regarding the initial question, I would suggest the use of non-oem parts is reasonable as they have been designed as direct replacements for original parts to a comparable specification.  If they have been designed with the intention of somehow changing this specification then that’s considered a modification, rather than like for like replacement.

I can only assume this is when insurers ask about ‘modifications’ rather than replacement parts.

your car?!?  Or anything to say about any car? How 'bout.... anything?

My car is 'nori green'. In the sun it is glorious. If a bird flies by and interferes with a single proton of the suns' gente grace it looks like a WW2 jeep. The life just dies. It needs the sun. Most everything else about the caris just fine.

    Thank you.

My RCF is the least popular colour released….certainly polarises people.  I must admit though, when the weather is good and the car is clean, it looks fabulous! Similar to your car however, at this time of year it just looks flat.

I get lots of comments about how I look like a t**t in it, predominantly from women who clearly find me attractive and are threatened by it!

UK - 35mpg easily on a run. On my usual runs to the super market / town driving low teens.

The way the engine ticks over at high speed  is something really special.

With respect to the gearing in the LC500, what kind of rpm are you doing around 65-70mph in top gear?  In the RCF 8 speed it’s around 1500-1600rpm if I remember correctly…..

Bit random but recently the heat shield above the right hand exhaust backbox came loose & rested on the top of exhaust, it had 4 mounting points but they had all corroded away so it was 100% loose but not in danger of falling off the car, is this sort of thing common on these? Cheap replacement though.

Think it’s relatively common on everything!  The aluminium corrodes at an accelerated rate, I can only assume due to the use of salt on the roads.

Wifes 2018 Range Rover needs a new one and contemplating just removing it….

Anybody bought a Barbour wax jacket and had any issues with the Lexus leather seats? Do not want to spend a lot of money on a winter coat only to find it ruins my light cream leather. Thanks all.

Although my seats are black, don’t seem to have any issues with my jacket.  I’ve recently re-waxed it and still no problems.

As for what others have said regarding getting something different…. They clearly don’t ‘get it’.  I’ve got a couple of nice Rab jackets that I wear if it’s cold but nothing beats my Barbour with a Berghaus fleece, Harris tweed/leather gloves and a bobble hat for feeling cosy.

I’ve just realised that I’ve turned into a Lexus driver!!

I have had lots of different cars that have been overfilled by myself and by garages and despite the horror stories no problems. The biggest problem was when taking my BSA bantam to Charlie Robinson's garage for a service. They drained the gearbox oil but forgot to put any new oil in. After a week of running with no oil in the gearbox I took it back because it was getting so hot. They just topped it up and sent me on my way. Mind you, I was only 16 and did not have the confidence to cause a big fuss about it.

The isF is still about  a quarter of an inch over the dipstick max level but absolutely no problems to report. Runs like a dream as usual.

I think if you really overfill the car it will probably blow it out but certainly not recommended. What the true tolerances are - I don't know.

I’m actually inclined to agree with the above.  Clearly the textbook answer is to remove some until it’s within manufacturers recommendations but in reality I’m sure it will be fine.

Also 100% agree that severe overfilling will damage an engine, don’t think you are in that situation though.  That being said, do what sits right with you, garage should sort it if you ask them.
