  1. Did you ever find a good restoration kit sorcerer? I've been looking on amazon at the Phillips kit, it comes with a uv protector guaranteed for 2 years? Has anyone used any kits to recommend?
  2. I'm coming round to it actually after looking at a few on auto trader. Does anyone know the cheapest place to get a genuine one?
  3. I'm just about to get my first Lexus, the rx300 2005 reg I'm looking for a rear bumper protector/ cover for the entry to the boot. I like the genuine Lexus ones but I'm not keen on having a black one on my silver car. Has anyone managed to find anyone that makes/ sells any silver chrome ones or maybe grey. Ive seen some nice ones for the newer 2009 rx but guess they wont fit my 05
  4. Definitely sorcerer 😊 Really pleased with it, can't wait to fetch it next week. I will be doing the rear bulbs to led, any particular make you reccomend would be appreciated. I need some new mats I'd prefer genuine but the only ones I've seen are £105!!! . I'd like to source a rear bumper protector to cover the boot opening. I have seen the genuine ones on eBay but they are black and not sure it will look too good on my silver car. I'll start a new post about trying to find a silver/chrome one or something if it exists. Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated👍
  5. All sorted now :) I'm collecting this beauty on Saturday Only £3400 with a fresh mot and service. It's in great condition for its age and drives like a dream. Really liked the black leather too. It's abs light was on but the dealer is sorting it with the mot, Hopefully worth waiting for.
  6. So I will update you on my days hunting. I drove to London to look at the 88k black one for £3990 with sat nav etc and service history. Only to find that it was in terrible condition scratches all over it, a rear fog light was hanging out with a rip in the leather inside and the wing mirrors had a strange red blobby colour to them. I just walked away disappointed as I'd drove so far from the midlands to see it. So I drove to Bedford to look at the 06 with 80k on without the camera. It was very nice drove lovely. I struck a deal and as I was about to sign the line the guy said the tax was £535 😲 To my horror. So I begrudgingly walked away again. I just thought all the rx300s were only £305. my next step is to see the one in Manchester tomorrow in hopes of more luck
  7. Yes it was but I'm unsure on it at the minute. What issues have you spotted on it. I'm going to look at an 06 se with 80k on first thing tomorrow it's really clean and well looked after it just doesn't have the rev camera etc. So I'm Gna see what it's like. There is another 04 with 88k on the clock near London with full service history and great spec too but that's the one with the steering mot advisory. Decisions decisions . Thanks for the advice on the cambelt guys.
  8. Hi guys so there is another one I'm looking at at the minute that's a 54 plate with 89000 on the clock it has a full service history, mostly Lexus dealer. It has 4 previous owners. And in very good condition. He's asking £3490. With a new mot. But no cambelt change, the trader said in the manual it is not supposed to be done till 107000 miles, is this true?
  9. The 69k one isn't an option now as it has air suspension sadly, another question Should the steering be completely smooth on these? No noises or Judders
  10. That's great stuff I'll be interested in sorting out the rear lighting as soon as I sort out a car, I'll test drive this car at the weekend and see about the "rough steering".
  11. I know some of them have a reversing camera but do they have parking sensors? Was this an extra or an aftermarket job?
  12. There is one I like that the last mot had an advisory for "steering system slightly rough" does anyone know what this might be? I'm going to look at it the weekend and hope it's all good.
  13. Thanks I'll have a look at the rust? I'm surprised I haven't seen any yet with any visible rust, I'm guessing you mean underbody components. I would love a 400h but they are just too high mileage for my budget. I don't mind the fuel consumption too much but I don't want to spend £500 per year on tax. So the rx300 is about right for what I can afford I think. I appreciate your views on the air suspension and because of the age of the cars I'm looking at I just don't want to take the risk of it failing. I know these cars are reliable so I'm hunting for a well kept se with good spec. Thanks for all your advice guys
  14. Wow that's brilliant stuff. I was just wondering is it worth looking at the rx350 if I can get any within my price range? But I think the tax is higher on them if I'm right at £500 a year when the rx300 is only £300?
  15. I have been reading some of the posts on the forum about air suspension. so I am only looking at se models tbh I have been surprised by how many se models have the air suspension too when I saw the button on the dash. Thank you for your in depth advice sorcerer. I think I might stop being so picky on mileage then as I've been trying to wait to look for one around 70k instead of 80k but think I'll just look for good service history and make sure to factor in the cambelt in my pricing. I think from watching them on eBay even high milers seem to not sell too cheap either.
  16. Thanks piers, I agree I'm after a well specced se, Ive found out the lower mileage one with no history has air suspension so I think that's a no go due to the issues. Is 88k a lot of miles for these to do? Are there any worries around this mileage and will it have decent value in future? Thanks again
  17. Hello everyone I'm new to the forum. I'm looking to buy a used Rx300 and my budget is around £4000. im looking at 2004s with round 80k on for this money and my question is should I push my budget for slightly lower mileage one at £4500 with 69k on the clock but sketchy service history as the elderly owners lost the book. Or buy a 88k one for around £3600 with service history. I only cover around 4000 miles a year, so will it be worth me spending the extra to get lower miles or not? I thought I would ask you the true experts as you own these cars. Any advice appreciated thanks
