  1. Hi Aaron, I rarely use it without the AC now, but it used to do it at first before the AC came through! That’s stopped now, so I don’t know if it’s just constant use that has cleared it out, or several Meguiars Air Con cleaning sprays that have gone through it. Worth a try for a tenner! I’ve been using the Fiji sunset one.
  2. Oh yes of course, these potential RX400h lights are from a breaker. It’s just that they look a bit better I think, and in better condition than typical RX300 lights tend to be! Just need to be sure the wiring is all the same before pulling the trigger!
  3. Hi All, I've been searching this quite a bit without success! I've got a 2004 Gen 2 RX300, and the headlights are extremely clouded. I've had them restored by a company, who said that unfortunately it's too far gone. Therefore I'm looking to replace them, but wondering if I can use a set from an RX400h - the later model slightly tinted ones (2008 model). I have HIDs with AFS, and it looks like 2008 model 400h had AFS, so would this be plug and play? Any coding required? Thanks in advance!
  4. It does seem that I’m trying to find the best compromise. The car currently has 16s on it, and going from the 17s to the 16s didn’t make a huge difference, hence looking elsewhere to try and improve it. In the new year I might take the trip up to Exeter Lexus, and see about test driving a facelift model and see how it compares.
  5. I'd be happy to pay that if I could find somewhere that would actually do it... One of the main gripes for me is a software bug in the firmware version I've got - the first time on every startup that you navigate to the setup or phone or climate tab, it gives the warning of "don't use the map while driving", and the only option is "Show Map", and it takes you to the map! Despite wanting to go to the phone, or climate settings.
  6. I had heard that they'd added some new welds, but was hoping that it wasn't anything too significant. My 2003 Fiat Stilo I had before this rode like a Rolls Royce in comparison! (with the same profile tyres) Comfy and smooth, with little body roll, so I would hope I could go a bit softer on the CT without compromising badly on handling. However if the facelift models aren't that much better, then perhaps it's not the way forward. Unfortunately my closest dealer (and any garage with a facelift CT) is a 130 mile round trip, so I'm not sure I'll be able to do that quite yet. Maybe aftermarket will be an option.
  7. I've got a 2011 SE-L, and the ride is very hard. I've heard that they softened the suspension setup on the facelift model, so I'm wondering if anyone has fitted shock absorbers from the facelift model (or perhaps aftermarket) to a pre-facelift in order to soften the ride. (If they're even compatible) I've downsized to 16" alloys for winter, and that's helped, but would love to go back to the factory 17s for summer. Anyone done anything like this? Cheers, Paul
  8. As an update to this, older topic I know.. I went to the Toyota dealer and they informed me that they were a Toyota dealer, and couldn't imagine why I would even ask about any other brand.. Wouldn't assosciate Lexus with Toyota at all - so I won't be going there for my MOTs and servicing then! So I emailed Snows Lexus (preparing for the 130 mile round trip), and they promptly replied saying they'd find out a price for me.. I then heard nothing back, so chased them after 2 weeks, and they never replied to that either.. So I didn't really get anywhere with this! No one seems to want my money for updating the maps..
  9. Not sure that all VWs are 5x100, but the older Golfs definitely are. i was considering some of the 90s Golf GTi BBS alloys.. theyre ET42. The CT is ET45, so near enough if the wheel is the same width (7J). If the VW wheel is 6.5J, I’d imagine the offset should be the other side of 45 if possible. Attached a picture (not great I’m afraid!) of the Borbet Y alloys on mine. 7J with a 35 offset, so quite a bit off but you can’t really notice the 10mm difference.
  10. Ended up with the Borbet Y in a 38 offset. Firstly the Cades Eros were no longer available in 5x100, so then I changed to the Calibre Vintage, and they got shipped to France by mistake.. and turned out to be the last set available until next year! Never thought buying aftermarket wheels would be so hard 🙄 Will get some pictures soon...
  11. Hi all, I’m looking at changing to aftermarket wheels. I want to downsize to 16” to improve the ride, and I’m looking at the Cades Eros. However they're ET35, compared to the originals which I believe are ET45. The 16s are the same width (7J), so I will have 10mm of negative offset. Is anyone else running a similar setup? Does 10mm of negative offset affect how the car drives too much? Thanks in advance!
  12. Thanks all, I've used an autoglym aircon bomb that didn't help, but maybe the more specialist products are a better bet. In the mean time, I'll look into cleaning the drain. Looks like it's easier to access from under the carpet, rather than below the car. Also looks like there's a foam cleaner designed for the job too.
  13. I almost always do have the AC on, but when you start the car, it takes 10 seconds or so for the AC to start working fully, so in that time you've got to hold your nose! I thought at first it was stale air somehow being moved out of the pipes, but then discovered that the smell comes back if you switch the AC off..
  14. I've had my 2011 CT for around 3 or 4 months now. One issue I have, is that turning on the fan with AC off results in a stale smell. I get it in the few seconds waiting for the AC to kick in, and I also get it if I turn the AC off and just have the fan. The moment I switch AC back on, the smell disappears. I've tried leaving it on max heat setting blowing hot air for 15 minutes, and I've also tried an Autoglym aircon deoderiser (the type that empties the can while the car is set to recirculate). Cabin filter is brand new. Is there any reason why it might only smell when AC is off? Doesn't matter if it's set to outside or recirculate. It's a strange problem! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  15. Thanks everyone, I'll try and get a chance to pop into the Toyota dealer and have a chat. There are some bugs in the software that hopefully have been fixed, for example sometimes going into the Info page, it takes me to the maps. The discs on ebay don't appear to be quite the right ones for this car, but I'll keep my eyes peeled. (Just got to get my starter battery sorted first, reading 9.5v shortly after switching off)
