  1. Hi Herbie, this obviously is a better bet than a blend change of say 1 -1.5 Ltr a time. I'm fairly competent on most vehicles/bikes. Haven't had a look underneath yet nor can I find a Haynes manual fro the Rx 300. Is it an easy enough job? Any advice must appreciated fella.
  2. Hi Daniel, have you had any success with any of the suggestions? Be good to have an update
  3. Just a thought - the XCW 70 2.5 would be a great car for towing. I can vouch for the V70 2.4 turbo with 200bhp - excellent. The XCW would give you more power plus 4wd.
  4. Have you tried disconnecting the battery and leaving it overnight? When you reconnect the next morning, the ECU will effectively have been re-booted.
  5. Many thanks for that fellas, sounds like a done deal with Lexus Reading. Will see if I can get a massage with my coffee and bikkies.
  6. That's a good shout Andrew as I'm that far away and can easily lose time in Reading. Will pin that one definitely and thanks for the heads up on the reduced costs for 'Essential Service' Thanks fella.
  7. Personally i've always managed to improve the braking performance on all my cars by changing to either Mintex or EBC discs and pads. Easy job as said above.
  8. Why didn't i think about a Toyota independent - thanks for that, will start searching.
  9. Hi Colin, Thanks again for that. Did some research and found that all but the CVT auto transmissions in a Lexus are made by Aisin SW in Japan. Further digging revealed that Mobil supplied Aisin SW with Mobil ATF 3309 so your thoughts in my mind are confirmed. I will search for suppliers of either but strongly feel that Toyota T-IV and Mobil ATF 3309 are one and the same. Thanks again
  10. Thanks Colin, it would be purely a precaution change and you're right it would be a "blend" change to freshen it up. So is it only Toyota Type T-IV fluid or is there another suitable alternative fluid you can recommend? Cheers
  11. Maybe a Volvo XC90 T6. It's a twin turbo 2.9 litre petrol. Can't think at present of other petrol turbo SUV's.
  12. Had a similar towing issue using another SUV 3.0 auto (and I did blow the torque converter), low rev pull wasn't great. Prior to that I used a V70 2.4 turbo ( not one engine/box issue) producing the same power as the 3 litre but was fantastic at towing. I'd say the V70 with the turbo was better due to the turbo coming on song (more power/torqe) at much lower revs than the 3.0 petrol. Would say that a diesel would be similar, also pulling much better at low revs. Just my 2p worth.
  13. Hi all, Following on from my previous post - can a Toyota dealer change the auto box fluid? I'm more than mechanically competent to change the fluid - warm gearbox over 10 miles, rest it for 5 mins, drain, measure fluid & refill etc but would like to ensure my new buy has it done 100% correctly for peace of mind. Cheers in advance
  14. Hi all, As per title - as a new owner of my 1st Lexus i'm looking for recommendations for Lexus Independent Specialists. I don't have any issues at present but would like to know in advance of any recommended Independents before I have any issues that may arise. Any advice, as always, much appreciated Cheers, Jeff

  16. Cheers all - sounds like I got myself a better deal than i thought which makes it even sweeter, Found it at a dealers literally within 2 miles from me which is tucked away and had forgotten all about it - popped in and there it was! To be honest I was looking for XC90's, X5's, Touaregs, Range Rovers etc and totally forgot about the Lexus.....until I saw it. I needed a car where i (at 6'3") could sit behind myself due to my 13yr old lad being 6'2". All the other cars failed but I can sit comfortably behind with room to spare in this - and in amazing comfort. I'm smitten to say the least. And yes the cambelt was done in 2014 so 6yrs at least before worrying. Only downside is one key so will get that sorted asap.
  17. Hi all, as per title really. Went looking for a replacement SUV and found myself buying a one owner RX 300 SE-L, '54 plate, totally unmarked inside & out, with 27k miles and full history for £7300. Bought this morning. I absolutely love everything about it. Comfier than a Volvo, smoother than a Merc on the rode and just as quiet. Give it a boot and it picks up it's skirt very well with decent handling to match. The list of equipment it has is quite frankly stupid for the money - it's loaded and i'm still finding new features. Just thoight I'd say Hi as i'm looking forward to lots of "how does xxxx work?" posts Cheers
