  1. Okay, so it looks like the part number is 88898-50010 and no longer available new, sadly. Even Rockauto doesn't have a match for that part The ambient sensor that goes behind the bumper seems available though, if that's your bag. Looks like I'll have to roll the dice on a breaker part
  2. Thanks, but I need one for my 1999 LS! Still not finding the elusive 'thermister'
  3. Hello! I'm guessing this may have been covered before! So, climate control is not heating cabin correctly, it's too cold. If I manually put the temp to 'HOT' it blows hot without drama. So I'm guessing faulty cabin temperature sensor. I'll probably change the ambient temperature sensor too, should be cheap to do but does anyone have part number for the cabin one? I can find the ambient one (the one behind the front bumper that reads outside temp) but can't find a part number for the one behind the little grill in the lower drivers side dashboard? Thanks David
  4. This is what I bought and it seems great quality and went straight in https://www.autodoc.co.uk/nissens/7284339 I couldn't find a Denso one but the Nissens one are very well thought of. Mine's a 55 facelift, not that I believe it's different
  5. Brilliant, thank you. I might look for the 17's if they also fit, the DHP wheels were 17's I think so might be a better compromise?
  6. Thanks, that's utterly brilliant, I should have known you'd know! Am I right to assume going from 16s to 18s means a compromise in ride? If so, how much is the next question! Handily I quite like the LS430 facelift wheels
  7. I'm looking for new wheels! But I don't want agonies of work to fit them. I'm open for going bigger than 16's, within reason. I appreciate my options maybe limited. So, would anyone like to furnish me with any??
  8. Thanks, that's helpful. I've had a few recommendations for Powerflow, there's places in Portsmouth and Southampton but I've heard mixed reviews. Knowledge of SC430s would be handy as I don't really want to make two trips due to ferries. But mum and dad live in Bexhill so Brighton may work?!
  9. I'm looking for decent options for a SS exhaust. I'll be needing the full system rather than cat back. Obviously being on the island down South is much preferable. So show us your tips! 🤣 I posted this in the SC430 section but most of us need an exhaust! I live on the Isle of Wight so it's going to be a ferry either way but somewhere down south would be useful
  10. Thanks Neil. I'll get myself a couple of options, like many I want some V8 noise but not loads. I'll have a chat to Rich and see what his sounds like!
  11. Well yep, culprit was a fuse! 😆 Just leave this here for any future searchers. And to remind me of my own paranoia!
  12. Yes, I'll start by checking the fuel pump relay tomorrow. If I can find it! 🤣 Thanks Herbie!
  13. Thanks Herbie, yes, I'd go straight to that but it's a good quality battery and is 3 months old. On start up it's showing 13v easy and every time. On the basis it's just showing the one code and not loads of hybrid codes I'm thinking maybe something in the fueling? Pump/pump relay, injectors, etc possibly?
  14. Fault Code P3191 Engine Does Not Start 🤔 Before I start remortgaging as I convince myself my entire hybrid system is knackered does anyone have some insight into this rather wide ranging fault code?! Car has been spot on and is well maintained, done 157k without a blip. Today, out of nowhere, it starts up and after about 10 seconds it conks out and shows the 'check VSC/Hybrid/AWD' errors. I have read the codes and the only one showing is P3191, no others. There is about 80% of a tankful of fresh fuel and the car is my daily and used as such. So, research has shown me this could be anything from MAF sensor or fuel pump relay up to knackered hybrid batteries. Hybrid system was operating perfectly fine yesterday. So what are the 'easier' things to check that me and or my good local indie can do? The issue for me is that I live on the Isle of Wight and we do not have a hybrid specialist here. Even the Toyota main dealer sends their hybrid faults to the mainland for repair. So let's check the stuff we can first. Plus secondly, does anyone know a good hybrid indie in the south if it comes to that? Always good to know for the future.
  15. Thanks Neil, that's helpful. I'll get over to the other place to ask Rich, the prices vary widely! I'd rather somewhere down south given I'm on the Isle of Wight but once in on that Ferry In can go anywhere!
  16. Hi SC430 Folks! My exhaust is starting to look a bit worse for wear and my mind is casting to options for a new exhaust. Thinking of something in SS maybe, maybe something with a gentle burble and something preferably down South! But it's all up for grabs for the right bit of kit So, recommendations??
  17. O2 sensors are common on older Toyota cars and are pretty easy to sort. There's not much too go wrong really. They are epic GT cars rather than a sporty drive, mine has coil overs and its no MX5! Just get one with history and a cambelt change and youll be fine. The 2005 facelift commands a premium but if registered after 23rd March 2006 it will fall into the £600 quid a year road tax, if that's a concern
  18. Thanks, yes, great idea. However the only radiator they have listed is the 'Bleed valve variant' which implies there are other variants! Plus they don't have an alternator listed for the SC?
  19. Hi all, I'm going to order up a new alternator, as it's on it's way to alternator heaven, and possibly a new radiator to change preventatively. Does anyone have the correct part numbers for these as I want to give Rockauto a try and clearly I want to get the correct ones! I have already learned the radiator was different in the US and Japanese markets (thanks to The-Acre). If they don't have the correct one I'll try amayama. BTW, it's a late 55 plate facelift. Thanks in advance David
  20. Neil, That is brilliant, thank you very much. Yes I have been doing some digging and it looks like they started fitting the P3933 model in 2004 in the last of the 2001-2005 models and to MOST of the facelift models. Rich posted a pic of the unit from his facelift and that was a P3933, I think most were. I can't see the model number on yours but the 2 plug (6 pin + 20 pin) arrangement leads me to believe it must also be. I appreciate it may be worth a more modern unit (what did you install, out of interest?) but I do like a stock look inside and the only things I really want is Bluetooth streaming and maybe a reversing camera, both of which I can do and keep the stock look. On further investigation I do believe that this may work as it has a splitter cable for the 20 pin plug and I know that the Yatour units are the only ones that work properly on the RX as I installed one on mine. Once this is cracked, it's operation reversing camera! Thanks again, I really appreciate it David
  21. Thanks! Yes I've asked over there, it's a bit of a mystery?! Plus typing on the small keys on my phone i seem to have created a new model! I don't think I can edit it, I'm sure you'll all know what I mean!
  22. Hi Does anyone know how the CD changer connects to the stereo on the facelift? The pictures below show the pre facelift (with three ports on the back, the circled one being a 5+7 pin external port for CD changer) and the facelift which only seems to have two ports on the back? Neither of which seem to be an external CD port! Thanks David
  23. So, an update. Car checks out nicely and clearly has been looked after. The alternator is a bit weak, side repeaters are full of water and it needs a 4 wheel alignment as there is some ruddering at speed. That's about it. Not a single leak of anything anywhere, always like that! Exhaust has had the back box modified for a bit more noise and some nice tips added for effect, can live with that. However car has coilovers which makes it a firmer ride than it should be. So I'm going to have a play with the hard/soft setting to see if we can soften that up a bit. Why on earth would you put on coilovers? Probably cost someone a grand or so too, especially on a car like this. But let's see if I can live with it. Got near £500 off for the alternator so happy days really. Those wheels do look good too. But it's silver, gonna have to live with that too! 🙂 Still wondering about replacing the gearbox oil and radiator as preventative things. The car's done 77k so a good time for gearbox oil change really if you're gonna do it. Out of interest, best place to get these parts? And all future parts?? That isn't Lexus? Has anyone used Rock Auto in the states for parts?
  24. Who makes OEM rads? I think Denso is one? Looking like it's less than fifty quid from Rock auto so I think I'd get it changed. Cheaper than a new gearbox! On that note, is an ATF oil change recommended? Or is it a sealed for life thing?? Thanks for all your help btw!
