  1. Also seems to do something to the rear diff when slowing down to prevent the car from spinning out. Used it in thick snow a couple of years ago and was amazed by the difference it made, even on crap tyres the car felt planted!!! Press the button, witchcraft and wizardry happened and the car transformed into a go anywhere beast!! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  2. I am currently in the process of fixing mine for the same reason. The bearing in the passenger side top mount has completely disintegrated (see picture) so I have just removed them and am sending them through to Brian at Orchard Engineering to have the bearing replaced. He has quoted £60 each plus postage to send them back. The job of removing them is a damn site more simple than I originally imagined, I have just removed them both in under an hour, in the rain, (it always takes longer if it's raining) on axle stands. I didn't even have to remove the wheels to do it! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  3. I have decided to beat the thieves by removing my own catalytic converter from my RX and running a stainless custom made exhaust. As we don't have MOT's on the Isle of Man and no emissions testing, this will not be a problem. To be honest, the car has 3 catalytic converters as standard so will be leaving 2 in place and just removing the 3rd. And if I'm being brutally honest, we don't have that kind of crime here either so I'm just looking for excuses to have a custom exhaust made for my baby. IT PAYS TO STAY VIGILANT!!!! 4. My £9.95 ebay China special arrived a couple of days ago so have just had the car in my workshop, got it up on my lift and replaced the sensor. I am pleased to report that it is all working again as it should. I had to drill the screws out of the old sensor to separate the metalwork from the plastic to use on the new sensor but the cover screws from the back of the old sensor made great replacements for these! Decided to clean and paint the brackets etc while I had the sensor stripped down. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  5. I will watch this video comprehensively when I have a few spare minutes (or hours) and then pull my Mark Levinson head unit to see what is different between the 2 sets. If they're pretty much the same, I can't see why it can't be done and maybe even add a subwoofer to the system too! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  6. As a tyre guy myself, (see www.facebook.com/tyremanniom which is my own business) I would have the Jinyu YS82's that I'm running on my own RX over those Nexen's all day long!! I have been really impressed by them as a tyre and not just as a cheap tyre but even against much more expensive brands! I find that so many of the more expensive tyres are not as good as they state, I wouldn't touch Dunlop, Goodyear or Uniroyal as they are too soft and wear the edges off very fast! Plus the Dunlop and Goodyear tend to start perishing after only 6 months (as do the Nexen) Continental & Bridgestone are OK and are better than the Jinyu but for how much more expensive they are, I couldn't justify the spend as they're not THAT much better a tyre. Which leaves Michelin!! Again, a very expensive ordeal buying 4 of these for the motor but there is a very good reason Michelin have been market leaders for most of (if not all of) my life. The Cross Climate is a very good all round option but beware as I have had a few of these go noisy and out of shape as they get beyond half worn! All in all, I think that personal preference has a large part to play in tyre choice but although a lot of tyres from China are cheap and nasty, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better! There are some good quality products also coming out of China for very reasonable prices! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  7. I know that the standard Lexus stereo can be replaced with a double din facia and that works very well but what I cannot find out is if there is any way to do a similar upgrade for the SE-L with the Mark Levinson Stereo? Is there some kind of wiring harness interface that can be used? If so, where would I find one etc. Looking at bringing the interior of my 2003 SE-L into the 21st century by covering all the dated wood with Silver Carbon wrap, having the steering wheel padded and re-trimmed and replacing the gear selector knob but there is no point to any of this if I have horrible 1990's style stereo display! 8. Yes. First off, the lever is very stiff to move, theres loads of corrosion inside and one of the gold springs is seized in place and snapped in half (it was also seized to the lid of the sensor). Safe to say FUBAR! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  9. Yup! That's the one! Just wondered if anyone had one as I don't really want to spend the best part of £200 on one! I have one ordered from China but will take 3 weeks to get here. It's a bit of an experiment as they're advertised on ebay for £9.95 with free shipping. I will let you all know if they're any good, if it comes through ok and works, I will be ordering 4 to keep in stock ready for next time! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  10. Has anyone here got a spare R/H rear ride height sensor for a 2003 Lexus RX300 SE-L? If so, how much with postage to the Isle of Man please? It would appear the second hand one I fitted nearly 3 years ago has failed and I could live in the gap between the wheel and the arch!! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  11. Just a quick one for anyone looking for a good "budget tyre" option, I am currently running my Lexus RX300 on 235/55R18 Jinyu YS82's and to say I've been impressed is an understatement! Anyone who knows the Isle of Man, knows the mountain section of the TT course and also knows we have no speed restrictions on this stretch of road. A couple of weeks before TT this year I managed Ramsey hairpin to Creg Ny Baa in just under 6mins 30secs. I pushed the car and the Jinyu tyres right to their limits and couldn't believe the grip levels!! They're not only good for grip but also very quiet and are wearing very slowly and evenly. Don't get me wrong, there are many better tyres out there but if you are working on a serious budget, you really won't go wrong with Jinyu. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  12. Have a quick look up under the front bumper of your Lexus. I had the same issue with damaged keys and then one day as I had it on my ramp doing a service, I noticed this plastic bag cable tied under the front bumper. I couldn't believe it when I unwrapped it to find a spanking new key!! Slapped a new battery in the remote (it has been there for 15 years) and it's now my main key! Bit of a long shot but worth a look! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  13. I own my own tyre business so everything is covered on a traders policy regardless of modifications. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  14. I have found a few body kits / bumper skirt kits that really modernise the gen 2 RX/Toyota Harrier, and bring it up to date. The only problem I seem to be having is all these kits seem to be big money and only available in Japan or Malaysia. Does anyone know if the kits in the pictures can be bought anywhere in the UK or in the EU at least? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  15. Fantastic! I commented to try and help you and it ended up with me getting the help. Thanks [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  16. Fantastic! Is Brian the guy who was advertising on Ebay?? How is the vehicle now they've been done?? Have you got any cont details for him as mine are getting desperate?!?!?! [emoji12][emoji12] Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  17. Hi people, just thought I'd pop by and say hello. I have a 2003 gen2 Lexus RX300 that has become part of my family and absolutely love driving it. She has developed a couple of little issues that I hope to get resolved in the near future and thought I may be able to draw on the previous experiences of the guys and girls in this group. Anyway, I have added a picture of my baby that was snapped on a recent Isle of Man car meet as I was blasting up the Sloc. I look forward to chatting more soon. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
  18. I am assuming you also have the usual crunching/clicking sound from your top mounts from lock to lock. Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. There was a guy advertising on Ebay that you could send your strut to and he would strip and rebuild with new bearings for £70 each plus p&p but I've just gone to find his advert tonight and it has disappeared! Unfortunately, the top mount is part of the shock/airbag assy and cannot be purchased separately. Your options are: 1. Hunt this guy down on Ebay, I'm personally going to give it a couple of weeks and see if his advert reappears. 2. Replace the front air strut assembly's. These are very expensive though at over £800 each. 3. Remove the air suspension from the car and fit standard springs and shocks. Bear in mind that you will also need to buy the top mounts, shims, dust covers etc. 4. (my favourite if I can't get the originals repaired) fit a full set of street/track BC Racing coilovers. These kits can be found online for approximately £750 and are fully height and ride adjustable! Hope this helps. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
