Ideally all tyres should be exactly the same, make, type, speed rating etc. If not, at least the front should be identical and of the same make and similarly the rear too if of a different make. Even if one tyre out of a pair has a tube inside the other the car will wander on the road. Tyre pressures should right, a professional cheks the pressures before aligning.

A  very important condition is the calibration of their electronic equipment. Only they know.

I would suggest to make sure the foregoing conditions are met and if you opt out for another alignment  do it with instruments that use absolute methods of reference and not electronic. They have no moving parts and they are factory calibrated for life.

When the steering geometry is right, the car obeys to every slightest command of the steering and drives straight ahead, on a flat level road,  with no hands on the steering.

Pressure all checked before doing alignment. All same speed rating.

Tyres are same brand on front and both same brand on rears.

There done it twice. Know there suggesting swap the wheels over first.

The steering is sitting to the left and when I centre it pulls to right.

Has anyone got the factory alignment specs. I try post a few pics.. I'm going tommorw but feel it's going to be a, waste of time..

No pics, but I had exact same thing, went back for 3 visits, all the same. Back adjusters seized and steering wheel off centre a touch, turned out that light stork was in auto, so 1 notice from equal position and thats what they were centering to, so storks looked even. Never went back to adjust to true even storks, got used to it and my ocd actually prefers thats storks are even to the wheel now 🤣😂

  3. Lexus GSMK2

    Had my alignment done twice.
Mentioned twice that steering is not sitting centre, it sitting to the left and I have to centre it then it pulls to the left. They did do it second time same issue
He did centre the steering with a lock then adjusted the toe. The camber he said the bushes in the lower arms no 2 rear were shot and couldn't be adjusted.
Can anyone look at the pics and advise please..
1st pic before they started and last pic when alignment done. And I'm sure he said caster cannot be done on these. Unfortunately there printer was off the blink so I just took some pics. If the readings are not right I will going in with the info. What are the factory alignment specs of the GS MK2. All factory standard.

The body is a single piece and the casing is a rear shell and front bezel. I seem to recall that they are slightly different in shape with the mk1 being a shade squarer. I have a set of the electric folding mk1 aristo plus controllers which have been around for years in the shed

Hi my GS 2003 are two piece. Im sure 2000-2004 are two pieces and years before are one piece.

Mk1 GS is different fitment to the body.

It’s section 3 you need to follow, mark around the striker plate them move it in a couple of mm towards the seats, pre marking with the pen allows you to see how far it has moved for reference. Retighten the bolts and see if the door has closed up enough. It’s a bit of a trial and error job.

I took the striker plate off and it won't move anymore than what it is. What do they mean by using the other bolt that bit I couldn't understand. Would section 2 and three apply then?

There will be in the factory manual, you can access all of the Lexus manuals on a pay per view basis ( one day is only a few pounds compared to £200-300 for the paper copy). Unfortunately I don’t have the link but another member will hopefully chip in with that.

If it is the the trailing edge of the door not aligned (lock end) you can adjust the striker plate on the door pillar by slackening off the securing bolts under the covers. I would suggest using a washable ink sharpie pen to mark the outline of the original position so you can see where it has moved to after adjustment.

Cheers Steve a link would be good for future use. I found this online not sure on how to do it as it mentions using centring bolt instead of standard bolt. Mine need adjusting vertically..

  7. Hi all I had the centre console for auto transmission out to change few bulbs. After changing the bulbs started her up and the auto transmission is stuck in P. My brake pedal when pressed doesn't allow it to shift gears I have to hold the Interlock button to shift gears. I think I must have but a spring for the lock somehow wrong also can't get my key into ACC or OFF have to disconnect Battery to get key out. Can someone guide me how to put this spring in. Or even better a photo of another one installed correctly. Highlighted is the two bits that I think I've put in wrong. Shift lock release link and shift lock release spring..

  8. Hi all been busy at work so no update on the mod. I've been looking into the OEM mod and would like to do that but don't really want to mess with the ECU too much.. so I'm going to tackle it with a dpdt switch and piggy back tails. My question is which piggy back fuse would be safe or if there is a empty fuse slot that any members know of in the kick panels. What size gauge wire should be used.. any advice be appreciated 😁

    Hi,

Unfortunately I do not speak Japanese. To me it is just like hieroglyphics. Try to get the repair manual of your car with the the full circuit diagram. There are a few websites on line to get the manual on a pdf document with very reasonable prices. I bought a Toyota Avensis and a Hundai manual for about 30 Euro each.

Without a complete circuit diagram showing all the connections you will be shooting in the dark.

    Chris.

Hi Chris I thought it would be. exactly were did you get the manuals from? If not I'm thinking of wiring it via dpdt switch with two relays. Or buying a JDM power folding mirror relay and dpdt switch. Some owners have done this on others forum. Not sure if it would be safer to do it with two relays to protect the life of the motor. 🤔
