  1. Thanks Andrew. Its crazy indeed in UK. I can see there is plenty of life left in my RX, but the cost of repairs discourages maintaining an old car in this modern era. appreciate your advice.
  2. Hi Folks, I have a 2002 RX 300 AWD. she has been a great companion for many years now. i have been getting her serviced regularly. the engine and trans is great, but recently things have started to go wrong one after the other. The front and rear passenger shock absorber needs replacement. my current mechanic has given me a ~500£ per absorber (part and labour) quote, each part costing around 300£. Any ideas where i can buy these for less? also, might add any good Toyota/Lexus garages in and around Edinburgh if someone could recommend, that would be much appreciated!...as i also have the infamous ABS activation (on low speed) problem, which my current mechanic has been unable to resolve. many thanks Sama
  3. update: so I got my mechanic to just push the pipe further and do a fresh clamp. Seems to be working since then.. lets see if it holds for long. thanks again for everyones help. glad i asked the question here.
  4. Ill see if i can get some decent quality jubilee clips, the ones on right now appear to be quite low quality. cheers everyone for very useful advice!!
  5. Thank you @Delphius1. I will be suggesting that advice to the mechanic as a first thing to try. will see if it holds!!
  6. @The-Acre yes thats trans oil cooler. @Stupot: thanks, sensible advice. Have you had experience with these silicon pipes used in trans pipelines, given that their must be some pressure in the system. whats the longevity on these things generally under pressure?
  7. Hi guys, ive recently bought 2002 RX300 auto AWD in UK. Seller informed me that the pipes leading to the transmission oil radiator have been replaced as the old one corroded away and were leaking. But they replacement is silicon pipes (see photo attached) and Ive noticed a small leak that happens when the engine runs. Any suggestion as to how to fix it? The garage guy advises to get Lexus original pipes, he did'nt give me an estimate, but I am assuming it would be expensive. Regards Saad
