  1. OOI, does anybody favour the more basic form of deterrent i.e. steering wheel lock? I'm not keen on more sophisticated stuff unless it is mandated by my insurer. Maybe in time that will come to pass. Currently, not a condition of cover at NFU.

In the meantime, more rudimentary solutions are what I'm after e.g. hiding an apple Air Tag somewhere out of the way.

Anyway, what does the body of the kirk feel about my skinflint notions?

  2. I'd be surprised if there isn't something in the small print Ts & Cs regarding petrol use in a loan car. My personal experience, at the dealership I have been a customer of for the last 16 years, has without fail been entirely reasonable. They always have a loan car that I can easily fit in to and never quibble about fuel level on return. As I say, just my anecdotal evidence in support of Lexus.

Today I will be moaning about the fact that my UX is the first car, that I have owned, where one cannot leave the wipers off the windscreen when cleaning! The bonnet prevents them from levering up and away!

Used to be one of the first things I did when car cleaning.

If you look in the manual, does it not show explain how to put them (vertical) ie in the service position?

    sorry if I’m wrong.

  4. Mincey, I feel your pain as I thought I’d got away on mine. Unfortunately I was wrong.

But, as I previously reported, all was well in the end with fine performances from NFU and Autoglass. The latter did a 5* job of fitting an OEM windscreen.

Don’t despair as I’m living proof of a perfect solution.

  5. Here’s that promised feedback:

    Faultless

Autoglass service was first class from start to finish. OEM part fitted exactly as requested and hoped for. John, who was in the car park ready to meet me, did the work. When he first saw the damage he said he could possibly fix it. But he wouldn’t be happy that it was the way to go.

Couldn’t have asked for better standard of work. Told me exactly what would take place and called me to tell me when he had completed the fitting.

Not a single thing can I complain about. And all for £50 excess and lifetime guarantee; nice one NFU.

    Result happiness 👍

  6. Well would you Adam’n’Eve it?  Just had a call (3.10 pm on Sunday!) from a lady at Autoglass to make a booking to fit the OE windscreen. All booked in at their Cambridge facility. Hurrah!!

Will provide update when done. Thanks to all those who have generously contributed to this thread; much appreciated.

Had the screen replaced in my RC. Took nearly six weeks to source an OEM screen from Lexus EU. The fitter, a mature chap of very many years experience, said he has only ever fitted OEM screens to Lexus cars.

cost to me was also just the £70 excess.

More reassuring words; many thanks. Patience is an imperative I’m increasingly thinking!!
