  1. I didn't get as far as buying a camera. Prolex had got a lead on some excellent quality cameras for about £100 which I was going to look at when the time came.
  2. I got as far as drawing a detailed schematic and buying the parts for this - but due to the swap to a Honda, I'm not going to take it any further. If anybody fancies taking it on, drop me a PM and I'll send the details. Ian
  3. I pick my new car up on Saturday afternoon - it's got no tax, and due to the pre-historic opening hours of the post-office, I can't get it taxed until Monday. I guess I'm OK driving it home from the garage, but how do I stand driving it for the rest of the weekend? I'm worried about ANPR cameras firing fines out left right and centre as I drive down the motorway Cheers Ian
  4. That's it. There's more stuff, but it doesn't come up on ebay.ie if I haven't specificed that I'll post internationally. I've probably missed a trick here - I'll update the details later tonight, and you should be able to see the whole list.
  5. Same sort of price of the equivalent RS200
  6. I've given up waiting for an Altezza, so all the bits I'd amassed to fit are now for sale. I've no gold membership, so I'm not going to list them here - they're all on ebay. Mr Singh - you might recognise the seats :D Ian
  7. I've finally given up waiting for on the ideal Altezza to turn up - I've put a deposit down on an Accord Type R, picking it up next weekend. On paper it's relatively similar to the RS200 - just over 200bhp with a VVT engive in a 4 door saloon (albeit FWD rather than RWD). However it leans much more towards a sporty car, whereas the RS200 is more of a GT type car. The recaro interior of the ATR is fantastic, but I have to admit the dash is a bit ho hum - very functional, without the flair of the Altezza. However FWD means there is loads more room inside. Externally, it's not ugly by any means - but again doesn't quite have the flair of the RS200. The VTEC on the Honda is fantastic - when it kicks in the car just snarls. It sounds like a formula one car. In truth it's probably no better than the VVT kick of the RS200, but it sounds 100 times better. As a driver of average skill, I can't tell the difference between FWD and RWD, and to be honest I prefer the safety of knowing I can put my foot down without the risk of ending up heading backwards into a tree. 8. :D I couldn't tell you exactly, but I do know that 90% of them have been silver automatics from 1999. :P
  9. There just aren't any about - except old, automatic, silver ones. I've got somebody looking for one in Japan for me, and they are also coming up with nothing. He is telling me they are very expensive at the moment (as expensive in Japan as here. Add on shipping and tax, and it isn't cost effective to bring them in). I wonder if the end of production of the old model has cause a surge in demand in Japan, with a knock on effect here. I'm getting very frustrated now - I really need a decent sized car for the summer. I'm looking at an Accord Type R this weekend.... Ian
  10. We need to know if it's with or without external amp Ian
  11. The UK lexus head unit is a direct swap for the Jap unit - but you have to make sure you have the correct version for your car. As has been mentioned, you need to find out if you have an amp or not in the Tezza. It's behind the glove box, fitted to the left hand side wall of the car. Its silver aluminium, with cooling fins - dead easy to spot. If you have an amp, you need a stereo from either an SE or Sport model. If no amp, the head unit has to come from an S model. There are also 2 versions of the stereo - there was a face lift in 2001, and the stereo was changed. The position of the CD loading slot was moved from the bottom to the top (or maybe the other way round - can't remember exactly). Anyway - you need to make sure the head unit you buy has the same location of the slot (ie from a pre 2001 car). There are plenty on ebay all the time - they go for about 150 to 200. Make sure they don't have the Err 3 error - it's a costly repair. Hope this helps
  12. Do a search - been plenty written about him Avoid him like the plague - I reckon I hold the record for the most out-of-pocket after dealing with him - about £6000.

    Interiors

I've had the back seats out - very easy - the bench pops upward with a good tug, and then there are 3 bolts underneath holding the back in place. 5 minute job once you know what your doing. Ian
  14. Looks stunning. I'm so jealous!! - I want one NOW Ian
  15. You'll need industrial strength double sided tape though - the stuff from WH Smiths won't do the job! It's made by 3M - I don't know of any sources off the top of my head, but somebody may be able to point in the right direction. Ian

    Coolant

What's so special about Toyota red? What makes it better than bog standard antifreeze from the garage? Just curious Ian
  17. I'm not sure where it is now, but the potential buyer is in Ireland
  18. It's my old one - The guy I sold it to is selling on again. I think he has already found a buyer. The potential new owner has already registered on here, so may introduce himself shortly. Ian
  19. Does anybody have the panel & 4 buttons from an IS200 going spare (for cash :) )? I bought Mr Singh's old seats, and want to have a go at getting the heaters working when they go in my (currently) non-existing Altezza. Cheers Ian
  20. This has all the frequencies, but you need to know the name of the nearest transmitter site. Link Try Waltham - I think that is on the Notts/Lincs border Ian
  21. I hadn't spotted that it's non-transferable - no idea why. I though you could put an old plate on a younger car, but not the other way round. Ahh well, I won't bid on it then :winky: Ian
  22. Had a calm rational chat with the wife tonight - I explained the reasons why importing again wasn't a teriible idea, she explained her worries about chucking good money after bad. After rationally listening to each others arguments, we both agreed I'm a knob, and I should just do as I'm bloody well told. So it's UK registered, or nothing. Women!
  23. I'm not a big fan of private plates, but I would have that one Ian
  24. 40 thousand quid for a Morris Minor!!!!! Ebay link
