" No RX300SE's in Tungsten Mist until 2005 and then only maybe. Plenty of Brechin Slate and Platinum Ice however. (The saleman tried to put me off T.Mist; he said it might be discontinued shortly). Only one RX300SE-L in Tunsgsten Mist with black interior (actually two but I've bought the other one with Sussex). There's a boat load docking in the UK any time now. UK dealers should know what variants are on the ship.

    What would I change? I'd like a nice rich metalic maroon paint option!

    I had an email from Lexus UK dated 24 June which states, "At the beginning of next year Lexus will introduce the RX400H!" Their exclamation mark. Also, "The full UK specification has yet to be announced". I imagine that Lexus UK is as much in the dark as the rest of us. Incidentally, 'What Car' still has the introduction date as January 2005 and the estimated price as £32,000. I think both are these will be well wide of the mark.

    The August issue of What Car, page 117, has a cost comparison chart, 15 suppliers, for a Dunlop SP Sport 270 235/55 R18V tyre suitable for a RX300. Lowest quote £163, highest £212. The same issue also has a three way test feature of the BMW X3, Freelander and RX300. Guess which comes out top; no prizes.
