I have been impressed with the upgrade on my front brake so much that I decided to do a full overhall of the rears.
Despite trying it would appear that there is no stock of these discs and pads out there, EBC are showing minus 2 in stock (how does that work?) and have said it could be a long time before they get any stock in.
Please be aware that stock out there may currently be non existent for some items and it would pay to source parts early for any job you are intending to do!

mine are staying permanently on, can someone please tell me where the actuator or switch is that turns them on so i can see what has happened.
I think what Ged may be alluding to is "how do you know the light is staying on, as it has a switch to turn it off when the boot is closed! 💡
Is that right mate?

Last week my ns mirror stopped dipping down when reverse was selected but with some adjusting in every direction to full extent it sprang back to life! 👍
Looks like a possible cure has been found for these mirror problems, although it may be only a temporary fix. 🤞

I'm not sure what a "reverse polarity" bulb is, but all LEDs are polarity conscious. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode and all diodes only allow current to flow in one direction - if you plug them in the wrong way, ie, with reversed polarity, they won't light up.
I'm not sure either but I followed recommendations, bought them from eBay and they fitted well, worked instantly so that was win win in my book!

Also replaced interior lamps with LED and they sure are brighter.
Wife say they look awful and make the comfortable car look like an operation room on a hospital so was told to reverse.
Must admit that she is right.
Hi Las Palmas
Yes they are quite clinical and modern and certainly not to everyone's taste but I have had approval from my other half mind you she is 15 years younger than me...lol!

Just replaced the interior lights and what a difference!
I used reverse polarity bulbs as I have read about problems on the Internet people have experienced if not used.

Hi Jim
Your car sounds beautiful, great colour combination and I sincerely hope you can continue to enjoy it for some time.
You are fortunate to get such a perfect car, I have a list of jobs as long as a toilet roll with entries vying for position. I hope to get it the best it can be.
Do you have any pics and have you seen any more SC's in your area?

Yes, that kind of money could buy a late model SC430, full lexus service history, low mileage, beautiful condition....well most of those things because main dealers are now retailing that spec of car for a fortune!
You need to get one bought it would make a excellent partner for your LS400.

Hi, I'm from Holmfirth near Huddersfield in Yorkshire.
At 61 years old I have finally got the car of my dreams, a SC430, 2007, 84k in silver with ivory trim.
It's not perfect but it is beautiful to me and it is part of my enjoyment to upgrade, improve and even repair things on it.
My son Tom (Lexiguy Junior) is a petrolhead like me and loves working on it and riding in it. A bonus is he can still squeeze in the back for family runs.
I enjoy meeting other SC enthusiasts and recently attended the meeting near Sleaford where over 30 SC's turned up!
In Huddersfield there are two more SC's and I have made a point of speaking to their owners.

Hi Lexiguy
I still have all the cat's in place, otherwise you would get more of that V8 rumble and lots of crackle and popping. which to be honest I do love, but I also like the quietness of the Lexus, so I will stay on for the moment, but do watch this space....
Sounds great!
From the 3rd cat is that two straight pipes with no boxes in them?
-
Thanks Neil
Do you know, have they always been the same or are there different options?
Need to know before contacting a breakers 😁

Hi Steve
That sounds great!
Is that replacement from the 3rd cat back with two straight pipes and no boxes?
What are slash tailpipes?

Hi Steve
It's good to hear that you have gone for the 2021 version and it worked! Well nearly.
I was only brave enough to go for the 2017/2018 version believing any newer version would not play on my 2007 vehicle.
It will be interesting to see how this one pans out, hopefully a clever guy can switch on the extra knowledge it contains.
Please keep us informed.

Hi Stewart
Yes the rubber brake pipes need clamping off but this only stops brake fluid loss from the clamp down. You will need to top up, I used almost a litre but as the pistons were replaced which needs more fluid and they required bleeding twice before they were perfect!
I have heard negative comments about braided hoses so you need to investigate them fully first. Also if you replace these the vehicle will need the brakes bleeding all round.
This is no bad thing because you could do a brake fluid change at the same time. Which could improve performance if your current fluid has absorbed a quantity moisture.
I am going to do the rears on my car and I will definitely do a fluid flush an fluid change!

Windows

I have just seen a convertible Merc with front and rear side windows down in true coupe fashion.
I believe it is possible to do this on the SC430 and I think it would look even better without the extra rear quater light windows the Merc has at the back.
Anybody know how to do this and could talk me through the process?
