  1. I had this too on my old IS200. It would go away as the car warmed up.
  2. KYBs are your best bet for an OEM replacement. Wouldn't trust any of the other name brands to do the same as a KYB. I'm on B6s and they are great but also not cheap!
  3. Most cars' photos that are taken with that background are car from auctions hence the lack of cleaning.
  4. UPDATE: new shocks and rear bump stops have been installed today as well as the new LCA bushings. Car is sitting a bit higher now (I think my old shocks were REALLY bad as it looked like the car was on lowering springs before!) £225 for the labour which is not too shabby. Car no longer wobbles around on twisties and bumps. Steering deadzone is less and lower speed steering feels much tighter. Yet to take it on an A road/motorway but I would assume I'll have a more planted feeling. Overall very happy, time will tell as they settle in and soften up slightly. Will be putting it on 18s with some Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics at some point in the next month as mentioned above and getting a proper alignment done.
  5. @Mr Vlad got some 18s that I am gonna refurb so once those are done I'll tackle tyres at the same time! That's going to be a February job though
  6. @J Henderson I am going to follow Bilstein and forum members' advice and stick to the OE springs for now. I don't want to prematurely wear them out with lowered springs. Coilovers, whilst very nice, are extremely expensive even in comparison to what these cost and as you said for a daily driver I personally don't want them!
  7. @Mr Vlad found them on Tegiwa but I think I might have snagged the last ones! Hardrace is the brand if you want to go digging.
  8. Got these lovely bits of kit going in next Thursday! Will report back how they feel! Side note, why do I suddenly want to go buy some flat pack furniture and eat some meatballs?
  9. It's funny you should mention that as I recently had my mum in the car and she left the belt in a similar way! I did do due diligence though and have checked all the trims around the door, nothing in the door pocket. Sounds like it's coming from inside the door card. Will probably just have to bite the bullet and take the doorcard off.
  10. Hi all, So far, I think I have managed to avoid most of the tropes that plague the early models of the 2IS (other than the dash speaker cracking every so often, I don't really mind it though.) One thing I have noticed is that there is an intermittent rattling noise coming from the passenger door. Unsure of whether it is in the door itself or maybe in that corner of the dash? Anyone experienced anything similar?
  11. @Mr Vlad I will once I've fitted my 18 inch sport alloys and new bilstein shocks, rn it looks a bit executive spec haha!
  12. Part numbers for @ahmed-abrar and anyone else interested: Front left - 24-155311 Front right - 24-155328 Rear - 24-155335 I believe they were originally designed for use with the ISF. But given the compatibility I'm giving them a try as an alternative to coilovers.
  13. I do. I was not aware that there are companies that would import the exhaust on my behalf when I looked tbh. Regardless, the 4 inch tip is not for me, does make yours look super mean though. Just to mention, this clip was recorded pretty late in the evening and I did not want to ***** off the neighbours. Once the exhaust has worn in a bit, I will get some proper exterior sounds!
  14. To be honest, i think it would be negligible if there were any difference. The main thing for me is that I wanted something similar to the HKS system, but didn't want to pay the 800 + shipping + import and I wanted a slightly downsized tip. It sounds good (the main thing was I wanted to reduce the amount of drone as much as possible, I think that is why they designed the system like this) and imo looks nice, especially when you can see the craftsmanship that went into making it. I like me some welds.
  15. It is about as close to the boot floor as you could possibly get. I think the angle of the photo makes it look lower than it actually is. Been over speed bumps, potholes, no issues.
  16. Hey maybe next time I can bring mine and it'll look like your cars' lovechild!
  17. Thanks Frank, I'll go for the B6s on OE springs I think. So the springs are now for sale if anyone is interested. Send me a PM! 🙂
  18. I've owned one. Idk whether you're looking at a manual, but I'd say the only thing missing from it for me was cruise control. The autos have it so not a problem if you're going for one of those. Power steering on mine was starting to become a problem, especially when cold. Squeaky belt and juddery at low speeds, but otherwise OK. I'm sure a new pump and belt would have fixed it straightaway. The rear subframe mounting brackets made me fail an otherwise advisory free MOT which was annoying. Luckily, not too difficult to source and replace. It is a fantastic "drivers" car. Especially good if you can find one with an LSD (mine was open diff boooo). Slightly underpowered but honestly, no problems getting up to speed limits. Stick some decent tyres on it, attack a B road and you'll love every second. Every time I went out to it, it made me smile. Driving it did too! As with anything, service history is all important. And because of its age and materials used, corrosion is a biggy. Look out for those two and I think otherwise, you're golden!
  19. Hey all, Bought some lowering springs quite recently and was looking to get them installed when I was having some other stuff done. The guys told me (as I had begun to suspect for a while) that my shocks were nearing the end of their life at the front AND back. No point in putting new springs on shot shocks so now in the market for new ones. I am torn between going for something OEM such as KYB or going for aftermarket such as Bilstein. I know that the B6s are advertised as being for cars that are on factory springs and the B8s are for lowered cars. But the Eibachs are a very modest 30mm drop, not sure that is what Bilstein considers 'lowered' as far as their B8 range goes. Add to that, I don't believe B8s exist that fit an IS250. Is anybody here on the B6 + Eibach combo that can report their experience? I have seen other member's forums (BMW, Porsche, even Corvette!) but nothing here. Thanks all!
  20. For sale is this IS200 OEM manual gear knob. Swapped this with a brand new OEM part from Amayama and have since moved the car on and found this lying around and figured someone else could get some use out of it. It could use a polish as it has some scratching/marring on the mirror finish bit. Posting it on here to feel out interest before listing it on eBay! Looking for £45 posted! 🙂 Reply here and I'll DM you.
  21. Hi all, Got my eyes on some OEM 350z Rays wheels that I think might look quite good on my car. The fronts are 18x8 ET30 and rears are 18x8.5 ET33. The all important question, would this be OK as far as fitment goes? As far as I understand lower offset means the wheels will 'stick out' more from the hub but please correct me if I am wrong! Looking for anyone that has experience in fitting a lower offset rim to their IS250. Cheers!
  22. Looking for 4x 18" IS250 (preferably 05-13 model, could be interested in the 14+ ones too) alloy wheels. Not bothered if they come with tyres or not. I am interested in all of the styles that came with the car so let me know what you've got! Thank you in advance!
  23. Hey guys, The dreaded rusty sills have befallen my IS. So far it's bubbling but it can only get worse and id like to keep the car as rust free as possible for as long as possible. I am located in the Beds/Bucks area. Does anybody have any recommendations for bodyshops that also do welding that would be able to carry out the necessary repairs? (Cut out rotting sill, weld in new plate, fill, paint) Thanks guys, Sam
