  2. Is this being sold as an "Approved Pre-Owned" vehicle? One of the conditions (among others) for being Lexus pre-approved is that: Services for qualifying vehicles must be within 1,000 miles either side of the scheduled service mileage limit or within 2 months either side of the specified time period. If it is, you might want to ask the dealer how it qualifies..... Cheers, Jon
  3. DRLs are a legal requirement in Canada so RXs will have them there...but they are not fitted to UK spec cars. Cheers, Jon

Hope this is of interest, Cheers, Jon
  5. I'll take a look at these costs in some more detail (I have all the paperwork) and post again Wed or Thurs. Cheers, Jon
  6. Just noticed that tomorrow is the 8th anniversary of my RX300 (bought new 1/9/2004), which made me think about how much the car has cost me over that time. Rather sadly, I keep records of these things so here's the story after exactly 8 years of ownership. Cash price paid : £33,630 (£1,655 discount off list) Estimated value now: £4,550 Depreciation: £29,080 Taxes & Insurance: £4,907 Maintenance: £11,769 Total running cost: £45,756 (£5,720 pa) Mileage: 112,600 (40.6p per mile) The maintenance costs broken down by year are: Year 1: £184 Year 2: £458 Year 3: £1,469 Year 4: £1,588 Year 5: £3,050 Year 6: £3,280 Year 7: £1,466 Year 8: £275 All servicing has been done at main Lexus dealers. Not sure what conclusions to draw from this, except that the list price now seems very low compared to the current model and I've been lucky with maintenance the last year! I'd be interested to hear what others think. Cheers, Jon
  7. Hi, For the last few days my 2004 RX 300 has started making what only can be described as a hollow, metallic grinding sort of noise at low speed. At first I thought it was only when the brake pedal was depressed as i came to a stop but it now seems to be all the time at very low speeds once the car's been driven for a while (e.g. I can hear it as I come home and into my driveway). It's getting more noticeable day by day. I thought it was from the front at first but now it seems to be more all-around. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Many thanks in advance, Jon
  8. Thanks, Appreciate the responses to the OP. I'll increase the tyre pressures and see what impact that has. Cheers, Jon
  9. Hi, I have a Jan 2011 RX450h which is giving very uneven tyre wear on all 4 tyres. The fronts were completely bald on the outside after 20k miles. 2 main dealers tell me this is "normal" but I'm not convinced, especially as I have a 112k 2004 RX300 that wears perfectly evenly (and very slowly) on Bridgestone Potenzas. I'd be very interested to know if anyone else has had this issue on a 450h? Many thanks in advance, Jon
  10. Hi, How much should I expect to pay for a new bumper for my RX 300? Old one is very scratched and worn. Many thanks, Jon
  11. The early Autocar blurb suggested a 7-seat option but unless I've missed it this is not the case. Presumably we wait for 2012.
  12. Same story in Autocar last week except for comment that only the hybrid would be for sale in UK. Current sales are only 1/4 of Merc ML apparently and petrol versions no longer selling.
  13. Jon, Just found my Lexus service plan I received last week, must say yours does sound a little high compared to mine, and thats allowing for the fact they've quoted you for 4 services compared to my 3 Benefits they're offering me * Fixed labour costs for the duration of your plan protecting you from inflation * Your first M.O.T free of charge * Free puncture repairs * Free wheel balancing * Interest free affordable monthly payment plan * Free transfer of your existing plan to a new Lexus vehicle * Additional discounts off all our services and products The service plan will cover me for 3 services, starting 60,000 miles / 6yr for a total of £766.49 inc VAT, must admit it's rather tempting. 2 errors I've noticed though, is that I had my 40k service with them a couple of weeks ago and my next service is next year for the big 50k service, (timing belts etc,) and they've got my model being a 2003 onwards model, whereas it's actually a mk1 2003 model.Hope this helps Nev :winky: My 60k service cost me around £870 inc VAT so makes your plan appear somewhat of a bargain!!
  14. My local Lexus dealer has (unprompted) sent me a letter giving me the opportunity to pay for my next 4 services (70k-100k inclusive) for a price of £2,287 (inc VAT). This seems an extraordinary amount and has got me thinking about what a reasonable cost might be. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Jon
  15. Thanks for replies. If I understand you correctly Colin, I should ignore the trip computer initially and try and run down to empty as close as possible in order for it to calibrate correctly. Still seems a bit strange though.... Cheers, Jon
  16. Thanks for replies to date. Just did a fill-up this afternoon. Trip computer read 21 miles remaining, fuel warning light was not on and I filled up with 58 litres. Once full it said 307 miles remaining and previous consumption reading was 23.2 mpg. There's definitely something screwy with the calibration somewhere, probably the trip computer??? Anyone else with the same issue (problem)? Thanks, Jon
  17. Hello, Today is our 19th day with our new SE Navigator and we've just gone through 1400 miles, a trip from Herts to Cornwall and back being the majority of this. First thoughts are that the car has delivered what it promised - a fantastic ride, quiet ambience and generally an understated air of luxury. Cruising at 80 mph and only 2,250 revs was a revelation. The power back door has probably been the biggest surprise - I originally thought this was a bit of a gimmick but when you're running back to the car in the rain absolutely essential! The parking camera too proved invaluable when manouevering in small, busy carparks. The only downsides are the floor mounted parking brake (hate it), the fact that the fuel guage warning light only comes on when there are very few miles left (I've only let this happen once because the trip computer said there was only 10 miles left!), and what seems to be an out of date SatNav disk (it didn't recognise the M6 Toll Road!). Does this seem normal to you experienced users? Cheers, Jon
  18. Hello, I'm soon to be the proud owner of an RX 300 SE Navigator, my only slight worry being the number of topics posted on here about excessive stone chip impacts etc. My dealer has offered me "Supagard" protection (for £299 if I remember rightly). Do you existing owners think this is worth having? Thanks in advance for your responses. Cheers, Jon
