  1. Good to know that they are prepared to be a little flexible on their definition of a standard install although I guess it does depend a certain extent on the guy doing the survey. I do expect ours will be beyond the scope even of a flexible approach so I’m getting a couple of local electricians to advise & quote for running a 32amp cable to a consumer unit in the garage prior to the survey. Was it a virtual survey or did they turn up in person? Ours will be a virtual survey
  2. Thanks Doug, one question if I may after watching the first video since I have just seen one possible solution to my particular problem of having the consumer unit inside the house away from the garage. The video I watched showed them taking new tails from the connections in the main meter box to a new fuse/connector (Henley?) box to the side of it, from which they wired the charger. I didn’t think this would be allowed by the Electricity Supplier but, if it is, then this should solve my main problem. I can then get a local Sparky to do this and run the 32amp cable from the outside wall of the house to a consumer unit in the garage on readiness for the survey. Unfortunately the current supply from the consumer unit in the house to the garage is only 16amp.
  3. That is what I am expecting Duggie 👍 hence why I think it is helpful for others to share their experiences Thanks for the heads up about the videos, I shall be seeking them out shortly
  4. Yes, of course, but hearing peoples practical experiences are much better than guessing how a person doing a survey of fitting interprets T&Cs.
  5. Could anyone who has already had their wallbox installed, or survey completed, please share their experience of what was classed as a standard installation and in particular what was classed as outside of the scope of a standard installation. Our survey (virtual) is booked for 10th March & in am trying to get ahead of the game as to what I might be liable for outside of the scope. I know that our current supply to the external garage is 16amp and therefore will need upgrading to 32amp so I am wondering if It's better to get that upgrade done before the survey so that it is done in the most sympathetic way possible rather than new cabling being merely attached on walls (easiest route) rather than hidden (best route). If people could share their experiences I'm sure its would help others in addition to myself.
  6. Yes it does @Starlight, our order was placed at the dealership late in the afternoon of 31st Jan and is KR9002 so no doubt treated as an early February order.
  7. Re the free servicing and GAP insurance I just said to my dealer that I needed a bit more to get my signature today otherwise I need to go away & think about it. I then suggested why not give something that has a real value benefit to me but does not cost you much like free servicing. I also pointed out that I wouldn’t be taking the GAP insurance since I could arrange my own much cheaper. He went away & came up with the 3 years servicing and free GAP insurance if I would sign that day. It may have helped that it was 31st January (month end figures etc)
  8. Yes, 450h+ Apparently the £750 loyalty allowance applies to all current Lexus owners who take the PCP finance. I didn’t need any finance but fort he past 3 cars I’ve bought I take it out just to get the discount and settle the finance after 1 month of taking delivery
  9. I managed a £1500 “discount” via an improved offer on my RX, the value of which was already very generous, together with a £750 loyalty allowance, 3 years free servicing and free GAP insurance
  10. Ordered ours 31st Jan, delivery “sometime in June” but not holding my breath. BG phoned Friday and virtual survey for wallbox installation booked for 10th March, so I don’t expect this to be installed in time before the expiry date of the grant, particularly since it is going to need a new 32amp supply from the house to the detached garage. (Current supply is only 16amp) My dealer has asked Lexus what the situation will be re the £350 after 31st March since their T&C’s are unclear. Waiting for a response Not too early since you can put it on retention as others have indicated. Also have a think about whether you want the car initially registering with the private plate or not. I always prefer the initial registration to be on the current age related plate and change them over afterwards. This way the car has its own registration identity which can be changed back again before sale since in 99% of cases the DVLA just re-issue the original registration plate. It’s a bit more of a faff having to inform insurance co, Lexus warranty, roadside assistance etc about the change in registration plates but your Lexus dealer should do everything for you other than insurance
  11. The bigger screen is included in the premium plus pack and standard on F Sport & Takumi I’m not familiar with the latest tech in the RX but the speed of reaction on the latest NX offering is instantaneous. The navigation system also works in real time and I was surprised that, when we had the car for a couple of hours, even though the navigation wasn’t set it warned me of an impending traffic jam ahead on the road that I was travelling along at that time. (Although I’m coming from a low base, it doesn’t take much to be impressed when one is used to the 2018 RX system) I’m with you on the CarPlay point, I’ve said for the past 5 years that CarPlay capability is really what manufactures’ only need to consider rather than questionable dated in car SatNav systems, the maps on which are usually out of date before you buy the car
  12. TBH I don’t find the ML system in my RX particularly outstanding but, then again, if I wanted to listen to high class hifi I’d do it at home. Never seen the point in these super fan dangled hifi systems in cars but maybe that’s just me
  13. Agree about the acceleration and the new infotainment system, the RX one is so positively archaic that I’ve not used the satnav for the past 2 years! Handling wise, I’ve never had a problem with my RX FSport, just switch to customised mode where I have the AVS set to stiffen the suspension and I find it fine on the twisty B roads around where we live. Really like the V6 in the RX, same basic engine as in my Lotus Evora minus Lotus ECU and supercharger
  14. 24 hours ago I was thinking that you’d be going for the RX🤔
  15. Well I’m moving from the RX to an NX450h & tbh I’m not 100% sure about the move, mainly because the NX feels so much smaller inside. We don’t need the space anymore & the wife has always found the RX a little too large so head says it’s the right thing to do but the heart is still with the RX😉
  16. Agreed, that’s what I’ve achieved (within a decimal point) over 4+years and 36,000 miles of mixed driving. However, re your other post, I stopped using Eco mode after the first few months, I found that my best consumption was in normal mode.
  17. I’d be investigating if there are any after market CarPlay modules available which would fit/work.
  18. Lexus now updated their website Free wallbox offer applies to all orders by 31st March 2022 and delivered by 31st Dec 2022 Revised T&Cs here https://d3rvezpmgp265q.cloudfront.net/lexusone/lexgbenv11/British-Gas-Wall-Box-Terms-and-Conditions-Final-2022_tcm-3157-2456319.pdf
  19. Just to help with a few points raised in this topic, I’ve just traded a late 2017 RX450h F Sport for a new NX450hF Sport. The RX has been, and still is, an excellent car. Extremely comfy and plenty of torque but the wife has always found it a bit of a barge which it is, particularly when squeezing in to parking spaces etc. We had an NX300 a few times as a courtesy car and no way would I have moved from the RX in to one of those, but the new NX is light and day different from the previous model. It does feel quite a bit smaller to me once inside, something which I no doubt will get used to, but other than that it was a delight to drive with quicker acceleration than the RX. Yes there are big discounts to be had on a new RX if you take a car which is already in the network, which is what we did at the time of purchase back in 2017 to secure a decent discount. Will that discount be nullified on trade in 3-4 years down the line, probably but we benefited from the current surge in demand for 2nd hand cars and hence pricing. By way of illustration, against the new NX450h which won’t be delivered until around June, our px value is guaranteed until the new car arrives and was £4K higher that we were offered in Feb 2020, representing 65% of initial purchase (not list) price. Happy with that along with the 3 years free servicing and £750 discount which we also secured, even allowing for residuals becoming more normalised in years to come. As for running costs of the RX, it has been faultless since purchase and has returned an impressive 35.6mpg over that time, which is better than I was expecting.
  20. So sorry, my mistake 😢 but since there isn’t another 450H model does it really matter 😛
  21. Re wallbox offer, scroll down this page, all orders to 31st March https://www.lexus.co.uk/car-models/nx/#pure-exhilaration Order your all-new NX 450+ Plug-in Hybrid online and receive a complimentary wall box including installation. Offer available to orders placed from 1st September - 31st March 2022. Please see terms and conditions for details. It does state “order online” & the T&Cs state must be registered by end April, hence why dealer checked with Lexus whilst we were there. They agreed that since they couldn’t supply in time for end April date the “orders by 31st March” now applies. The T&Cs, if you click on them, are otherwise pretty clear https://d3rvezpmgp265q.cloudfront.net/lexusone/lexgbenv11/British-Gas-Wall-Box-Terms-and-Conditions-Final-3_tcm-3157-2415341.pdf Yes the £350 grant stops in April so I’m resigned to accepting that I will have to take that cost.
  22. Ordered an NX450h F Sport on Monday 31st following an extended test drive & after over 4 years of owning a RX450 F Sport. The RX was the most comfortable car we’ve owned, eclipsing the previous RR Sport. Reason for change, wife drives it a lot and has always found the RX to be a bit of a barge around town and for parking. Why the F Sport version? Well the majority of trips we make involve bendy country B roads and I found that the Adaptable Variable Suspension on the RX really does take out a lot of body roll when switched to Custom mode or Sport mode so I wanted to retain that feature. Why the 450h? TBH it may be a mistake, only time will tell. 50% of our regular annual mileage should fall within the EV range with the other 50% usually being 200 miles+. My fear is that the longer trips will not manage the mpg figures of the 350h due to lugging around the extra weight🤔, but no doubt will be better than the RX (the RX has given us an average over 36,000miles of 35.6mpg). We managed what I thought was a decent overall deal on the 450h with the dealer throwing in 3 years servicing, GAP insurance and extra £2k for our RX due to the earlier delivery date so with this, along with the free wall box that Lexus are offering, I decided to take the risk on the 450h. Only time will tell if it was the correct decision. Following a call to Lexus by dealer, initially to confirm that the wall box offer would still apply to vehicles delivered after April, delivery was quoted as June but told “could be May could be July” (would have been Sept/Oct for the 350h)
