  1. Sorry if I am waffling on a lot everyone I have never typed so much , obviously hits a bit of a nerve this topic I’ll quieten down a bit now. Make the most of the sunshine everyone
  2. The Battery warranty won’t be affected by where you take it for a service that would only be if like Lexus they offer a warranty over and above the normal time frame. We service vehicle from new for all makes and the warranty is not affected.
  3. Hydrogen is a lotus less efficient than electric/ battery vehicles but it does address a lot of the problems with supplying the amount of power required and also the amount of raw materials needed. so your point is a good one but also there is the chance that new inventions and technology may address a lot of the battery EV problems. as Roy said we will see, this is such a strange times of competing and changing technologies is is hard to envision where we will be by the 2030 deadline. Interesting times
  4. The problem we get Roy is that if you go to the main agent for a service ICE or EV they just have a set price £350 say, with no real breakdown. when we service a vehicle we have a set book time and set prices for parts for the leasing companies. I bought my wife a new Audi Q2 in 2017 and on the anniversary Audi sent me a service reminder for the first service, it was £349 , now the first service is basically an oil and filter change and an inspection. Which we do for £99, I don’t know what sort of imaginary labour rate they must be on to charge £349 . So the main agents always make their money. P.S Even though we service her Audi I will be taking the LC500 into Lexus
  5. To Royof one note to Roy EVs do get through tyres a lot quicker than ICE vehicles, so if you factor that in and suspension wear for the extra weight that will increase overall running costs a bit (we don’t do tyres, so we don’t see that side of things)
  6. I think it will be less than that, I own a couple of garages and Mot centres that do work for the leasing companies. They are not accepting the EV work as not enough profit in it and the leasing companies are desperate for garages to carry out the work as so many business user are going electric for tax purposes , but for the leasing companies, we have to collect and deliver the vehicle, so you collect and deliver back a car that’s an hours driving, to do a service that is about 0.6 of an hour. They want you to work for £45-49 per hour then take a cut of full invoice on the back side of 5%. There are no cam belts to do, no engine oil, oil filters, air filter or spark plugs to make profit on. Brake pads and discs were good earners but unlikely to see and of those in the 3 years leasing deal. You will have a pollen filter replacement and wiper blades when they are due. So we do not want that work 1.6 hours for about £22 . Definitely not 80% (note our normal labour rate is £65) obviously the main agent charge more but the leasing companies don’t use them unless they have to. Not sure how garages are going to survive on EV work, labour rates will need to go up massively.
  7. Serving cost are very low for EV’s with little extra on them Will Suppliers still be able to offer warranty with not much to earn on a service? Will be interesting to see if they can keep the offer as it is expected by customers and will be seen as a negative if they drop it. It’s a bit like the clothing companies offering free returns by post . They can’t keep that up much longer, once one major supplier starts charging they probably all will.
  8. Though I think is just one of those things, there is absolutely no reason not to push the main agent for a repair, it is possible there is a fault or they may just do it for customer satisfaction .
  9. I agree with the people who say it will be a much closer run race. I am happy to pay extra from the quality products, but a lot of people when they see a pretty packaged Renault and they think well it looks nice and there is not much to go wrong or worry about Tyres , suspension joints, maybe wiring, Brakes could last 100k with regen braking. And then you have the South Koreans making solid reliable products. I think it’s going to be a much tougher market in 5 years time, and design , range and control of battery tech and materials will be everything.
  10. Hi Everyone Just a though, I would like your views Is the reliability of Lexus going to be less of a selling point with EV’s , as any manufacturer is going to have a much more reliable car. Batteries and electric motors are much more reliable than an ICE vehicle and those are the parts most purchasers worry about going wrong. Even though the build quality is much better overall will this be enough to keep/tempt owners to Lexus in an EV world?
  11. I’m afraid I agree with the others on here, this happens sometimes and just because you haven’t experienced it means you have been lucky, I have never won the lottery but I keep buying a ticket, hopefully it won’t cost you too much to fix it and it’s best not to leave it to long.
  12. Don’t you pine for the old days of 2 tin cans and a length of rope life was much more peaceful and less stressful
  13. Probably Malc, but he was born in 1951 and thinks Google is what you do when a pretty girl walks by.
  14. I love it Baz Convertible’s have always been my love, I couldn’t quite afford one in my current model but in a couple of years 🤞🏻. Yours looks lovely Enjoy
  15. You have to be careful having old maps around a group of us went mountain biking near bike park wales recently and one of are group loves to be the path finder with his ordinance survey maps. He told us that if we cycled down this road to the next lake there we excellent trails all around the area. After one and a half hours of trying to ride through almost rainforest type conditions over thick thorny ground more walking than cycling. We eventually got back to bike park Wales after 7 punctures between us. and re-examine his map and with a bit of help from the locals we found out that a reservoir lake had been build back in the 1980s ( if I recall right) in between there and the now second lake down the road his OS map well he purchased that in 1974

  19. Yes Andy mine is covered in sand as well thats what is worrying me
  20. I think I’m still leaning towards leaving it off, I quite like the fact that as it is such a rare car and looks so unusual that having no badge will keep people wondering what it is. I will have the badge so can always get it fitted later thanks for your thoughts
  21. On my way to the shop to get my chocolate bars now I feel an emergency coming on😃
  22. Hi Rayaans when my car was delivered it came with no badge on rear at all They were waiting for badge to come in and have told me that they will post it to me and pay Lexus Bristol to fit it. But after looking at the rear these last few days I am starting to think it looks good without it, but I am in two minds so a second opinion from you or anyone else would be appreciated
  23. Thank you Andy After the drive back from Devon and all this rain we have had and being parked under a tree it is look a little bedraggled at the moment and I am scared to death to try to clean any of it off lest I do damage.
  24. I still like to keep an AA atlas, thin fleece, water proof of some kind, ice scrapper, small torch, CDs (now that I can again) latex gloves, electric tape, compact umbrella, etc. I think either a bag behind drivers seat (the seat is far enough back and close to the rear seats that you can not see it) or a small bag in boot that I can strap to the netting points on one side The storage unit Alex suggested looks great but a bit too big for what I want, but some of the suggestions it throws up may be ok. After a long hard internal argument I have decided to throw out my Atlas and water proof ( some of the pages of my Atlas had stuck together as it was last used on a holiday to St Ives in 1989😃
  25. Yes Malc Was thinking of putting a small bag on floor behind drivers seat
