  1. Im defo interested in this. Koblenz is a beautiful part of Germany, right on the Rhine, with a fab Castle on a cliff, and ACE beer. I went there about 10 years ago for the Rhine in Flames festival.

I would be interested in this trip Ken, dependent on cost obviously, and Im not entirely sure about my work committments yet, but I would love to come for it if I can.

  2. Hi Guys, thanks for the interest. Unfortunately, I am not able to do any gold plating. The reason for this is simple. I am an authorised trader to the LOC, however there is a club sponsor who offers this service, who has a long standing arrangement with the club.

As I am sure you will agree, we have to respect the club rules and respect the club sponsors position, so please submit your enquiry to them.

Anyway, the method of gold plating that I can do is different. I believe that GoldGenie use the "Wand" method, which is good and affordable, however my method is by total submersion, including total chrome-stripping and recoating. The process itself is expensive, so I dont intend pushing our gold plating anyway.

Thanks for the interest anyway, and sorry I cant do it for you. Now if yoou want chroming, Anodising, Polishing or Vinyls, then thats a different matter. Were also experimenting with some rather nice, what shall we call it, erm......"AnoChrome" which effectively coats anything with a chrome based coating with just a tint of an anodised dye, giving it that pearlescent sort of look. If we can get the mix right, it will look ACE on wheels.

  3. Ive just had a look at my stock, and I have a Metallic Graphite vinyl which, to be truthful, doesnt match exactly, but its not a million miles off, and contrasts well with the painted surface on the dash.

I think the dash paint has a hint of bronze to it, which gives that greenish sort of tint and I think you would be pushed to match it exactly anyway.

If you want a swatch sending of the vinyl, just pm your address and will send you some.

  4. Ive just supplied a "Sunstrip" for want of a better word. It was a thick Red Vinyl, 10" across from top to bottom, the full width of the screen, for a road-going BTCC lookalike. It passed the MOT OK because the field of view was not inhibited by the sunstrip at the top.

I think this is an open and shut case. The bobby did not test in the normal field of view, and without the sunstrip in place, on a bright and sunny day, you would use the normal sun visor, which cuts 100% from your field of view if it is in use.

The tint in the window is there for a reason - SAFETY.

Let it go to court mate. I would.

  5. I can look out of my office window right now and think to myself

"I can remember when all this was fields"

I remember going to a schoolr reunion 2 or 3 years ago, and I went to my old classroom. The plastic seats were really small, and Im sure the little bit of chewed up paper that I fired at the ceiling through my biro was still there.

I visited the back of the engineering shop where everyone went for a fag

and I met my old headmaster, who still has halitosis, and still carries the big bible under his arm which he used to use as a weapon.

I had school dinner, with those lovely small scoops of mashed tatty and tapioca pudding with a little dollop of cheap jam.

Oh, the good ol' days are gone forever........

  6. You know what - I totally and completely understand every damm line of this. *** I must be old.

But they were the good ol' days.

But you forgot something which we all did Im sure:

    1. Scrumping !

    2. Riding pillion on the Raliegh Chopper - cos the little sign on the seat said you shouldnt !

    3. Making a swing out of a bit of wood and a length of discarded rope, usually over the most perillous swamp you can find.

Can anyone think of any more?

  7. I had the same problem with my Mini-disc - I dropped it in the bath. All I did was sit it on some tissue paper for a week or so on a radiator and it worked fine after that. Alternatively, just remove a service panel and get the hair dryer in there, but be carefull not to get it too hot, just enough to vapourise any moisture.
